I Love this collection overall.  I think it's very magical, fun, and festive. The glitter pixies are always fun to me, the matte texture against the sparkly glitter makes an incredible eye pleasing delight. The other two shades, Saint and Olivera, are also gorgeous and highly unique.

I found the formula to be great and very easy to work with.

My top favs include: Olivera, Saint, and Alice.

The Seashells collection PixieDust consists of the following shades-

Dixie: a hot red cream with magenta undertones.

I am beyond obsessed with these two collections.  First of all, I have always been a huge fan of the PixieDust line.  I think this set in particular is the prettiest and best one yet!  The micro fine holographic glitter particles in each of the shades really adds tremendous dimension, depth, and a shiny brilliancy I haven't seen in the other PixieDust collections.

As far as the Sunsets collection, super highly pigmented one coat creams are my obsession.  If a client is in a rush, or if I am in an absolute pinch on a photoshoot set, these polishes are a dream come true.  One coat and you have creamy smooth even perfection.  I wish all nail polishes came in a formula like this.  Heaven has finally answered my nail polish prayers. ^_^

My personal favorites include: Dixie, Dory, Tilly and Bay.

Zoya Spring 2016 Petals Collection Review

Zoya Spring 2016 Petals Collection Review 0

"A flourish of beautiful blooming nail color!

Introducing Petals, the latest color collection from Zoya Nail Polish just in time for Spring 2016. Inspired by the gardens of spring, this fresh and vibrant collection invites you to revel in the beauty of the season!

  • Leia: a sheer top coat with pearlized pink and green shimmer, in a clear base. Even with three coats you will still see visible nail line. [Sheer opalescent white with flecks of fuchsia, green and gold.
Just as beautiful alone as it layered over your favorite spring shades!]
  • Aster: a blurple (blue/purple) shimmer.  [Fresh periwinkle with flecks of fuchsia to create a dewy finish,
mimicking the look of spring flowers in the morning.]
  • Azalea: a bright magenta pink shimmer. [Classic spring pink with a captivating white and fuchsia flash.]
  • Zahara: an orange sherbet with a fine pink shimmer to it. [Brilliant shimmering coral made modern with an opalescent effect.]
  • Tulip: a flamingo pink cream. [Pure pastel salmon cream with the slightest hint of sheen to mimic
    a petal soft finish.]
  • Laurel: a medium pink creme shimmer. [Warm pastel pink with the slightest hint of sheen to mimic a petal
soft finish.]" according to the official press release.

What I enjoyed most about the Spring Petals 2016 Collection was the pearlized reflective shimmer in many of the colors.

At first glance of the collection, in the bottle Leia was my favorite.  Once I painted it on however I wasn't a big fan,  I don't love sheer polishes in general. However, when layered atop the other colors in the collection, as mentioned in the press release, you get a gorgeous effect.

As far as the formula is concerned I didn't experience any issues whatsoever.  They were all very easy to work with, and painted on smoothly and evenly in two coats, with Leia being the sole exception.

My personal favorites in the collection include: Leia, Zahara, and Aster.

They retail for $10 each, per .5 fl oz (15 mL) bottle.

Zoya Whispers Review

Zoya Whispers Review 0

"SIX NEW TRANSITIONAL SHADES -ZOYA WHISPERS
Experience color serenity with this muted and tranquil palette of transitional nail neutrals.
· Cala - ZP823: A soft nude with a kiss of warmth that will flatter most skin tones.

· April - ZP824: A light, rosy toned neutral that is a modern take on blush.

· Eastyn - ZP825: A subtle grayed grape that is more interesting than mauve and
gives a modern alternative that is ever so wearable.

· Misty - ZP827: An easy to wear taupe that is an updated version of gray with
just a touch of green to make it daring.

· Ireland - ZP826: A uniquely wearable green that is muted enough to make it subtle
yet still interesting. This green is well balanced between blue & yellow so it’s
flattering on all skin tones.

· Lake - ZP828: A softened blue that gives the effect of serene water with just a
hint of vibrancy to preserve its luminosity." according to the official press release.

The Zoya Whispers collection is comprised of the following colors:

Misty: a greige creme with slight light brown undertones.

Ireland: a soft light green creme.Provided amazing coverage.  Highly pigmented.

April: a creamy nude with rose undertones. Had great coverage with just one coat.

Cala: a beige nude creme.

Lake: a dusty light blue creme with slight grey undertones.

Eastyn: a dusty light lavender creme with grey undertones.  Highly pigmented.  Provided excellent coverage in a single coat.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

What a pretty collection.  I honestly think this is the perfect transitional collection of colors to take us away from the metallics and glitters we were doing last year, but before we go with the bold bright and neon hues of summer to come.  I'm really impressed with the formula and how highly pigmented some of the colors were.  They all painted on smoothly and effortlessly, giving me zero problems.

My personal favorites are: Eastyn, Lake, and April.

The colors retail for $9 per 0.5 fl oz (15 mL) bottle, and are available now.

Zoya MatteVelvet Holiday/Winter 2015

Zoya MatteVelvet Holiday/Winter 2015 0

"BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND!!!  ZOYA MATTEVELVET
Six new MATTEVELVET Nail Colors to slip into this WINTER/HOLIDAY season.

The best-selling, MATTEVELVET finish returns this holiday season with six new shades. Each nail polish perfectly opaque, matte color with that extra special ZOYA MATTEVELVETfleck finish everyone loves.

  • Aspen (ZP814) - a sparkling artic white with a micronized diamond pearl fleck.
  • Sue (ZP815) - a soft champagne gold with a multi-hued oyster shell pearl fleck.
  • Amal (ZP816) – a classic crimson red with a ruby red pearl fleck.
  • Iris (ZP817) - a deep amethyst with a fuchsia pearl fleck.
  • Yves (ZP818) - a deep sapphire that's midway in between indigo and royal blue with a blue pearl fleck.
  • Honor (ZP819) - a true emerald green with a tone on tone emerald pearl fleck.

NOTE: MATTEVELVET nail color by Zoya is not intended to be worn with a base coat, glossy top coat or speed dryer. Due to the unique matte formulation, color is not as long-wearing as traditional nail color. A completely clean, dry surface yields the best results for matte nail color wear. To extend wear, apply one coat of the Zoya Matte Velvet Topcoat over your favorite matte shades after polish is completely dry.

Zoya MATTEVELVET Colors, 0.5 oz. -  $10 (US) ea.

Zoya MATTEVELVET Color Sampler, 6 – 0.5 oz. bottles -  $60 (US)

Available in top salons, spas and on zoya.com

* **BIG5FREE, TOXIN FREE: Zoya Nail Polish Formula contains no formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, dibutyl phthalate, toluene or camphor." according to the official press release.

The 6 shades comprising the Zoya MatteVelvet collection include:

  • Iris: a beautiful deep magenta purple.
  • Amal: a crimson ruby red.
  • Honor: an emerald green.
  • Sue: a glistening beige pale gold.
  • Yves: a shimmering midnight blue.
  • Aspen: a glittery snow white.

I am personally obsessed with this collection.  I am so glad that Zoya decided to bring back the matte finish this holiday season.  This collection is right on trend.  Matte nails are very huge this fall/winter, and this collection is the perfect and easiest way to achieve the trendy look.

The finish is quite unique.  It's not quite completely matte, but it's also not shiny like conventional polishes, it rather falls somewhere in between.  There is definitely a satin/velvet-look to the finish that in my opinion is quite rare on the market.

I didn't experience any issues with any of the colors.  They all painted on smoothly and effortlessly, without any streaking.  Plus I feel that these matte shades dry quicker than conventional polishes, another major plus.

My favorites from the collection include: Yves, Sue, and Honor.

Zoya- Focus & Flair Fall 2015 Collection Review

Zoya- Focus & Flair Fall 2015 Collection Review 0

"From Runway to Real Life!  ZOYA FOCUS & FLAIR Two exciting new Zoya Nail Polish collections arrive for FALL 2015

FOCUS (creams) The Zoya Focus Collection features six strong, solid shades that anchor a look for fall as stand-alone shades. The densely pigmented cream formula features a unique, micro-grind pigment that allows for extra-smooth, streak-free application.

FLAIR (metallics) Six, jewel toned liquid metal shades. The unique, micro-grind metallic pigment of the Zoya Flair Collection is fully blended into a vibrant base, creating the effect of brilliant colored melted metal!"  according to the press release.

The cream colors that comprise the FOCUS collection include:

Charli: a dark army green with brown undertones.  A 1 Coat Wonder! Incredible formula.  Very highly pigmented.

Desiree: a deep chocolate brown creme.  Also a 1 Coat Wonder! Has a similar formula to "Charli" mentioned above..

Janel: a crimson ruby red creme.  Also highly pigmented.

Lidia: a deep rasin purple creme.

Sia: an electric cobalt blue creme.  Highly pigmented.

Hannah: a bright cherry red creme, almost neon.  A 1 Coat wonder!! I'm obsessed.

and the six metallics that comprise the FLAIR collection include:

Aggie: a yellow gold/ green duo chrome shimmer.  For a duo chrome I was shocked to see the amount of coverage I got with even the first coat.

Tris: a metallic gunmetal.

Giada: a medium metallic purple.  A 1 coat wonder!

Estelle: a royal blue metallic shimmer.

Ember: a candy apple red shimmer. A 1 coat wonder!

Cinnamon: a rich coffee brown metallic shimmer.  Also a 1 Coat wonder!

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

What I loved most about this collection was the formulas.  The colors themselves aren't anything new or terribly exciting, but the formulas of them was truly remarkable, and alone makes them worth it.

I have never in my life come across a single collection that featured so many 1 Coat Wonders in it!  The pigmentation was just simply amazing across the board.

The colors painted on so smoothly and easily including all of the metallic shades.  Usually metallic shades leave awful brush strokes, but not these! Flawless, smooth, application with tremendous ease.

My personal favorite shades include: Sia, Hannah, Ember, and Tris

My personal favorites include: Genesis, Isa, & Cecilia

Hey guys, I hope you are all doing well.

The Delight Spring 2015 collection includes:

Lillian: a light aqua blue creme. [faded aquamarine]

Rayne: a bright icy blue with iridescent blue shimmer running through it. [dewy, spring blue metallic with turquoise metallic flash]

(all swatches shown here are two coats and are photographed outdoors in natural light.)

Overall I really enjoyed this collection.  I think the colors are perfect as spring approaches and the weather warms up.  I really enjoyed the blue iridescent shimmer that runs through three of the shades, I found it unique and pretty.  As far as the formulas are concerned, they were all great, and provided very easy, clean, and smooth application.

My personal favorites include: Tiana, Leslie, & Daisy

Zoya Naturel Satins 2015 Transitional Collection Review

Zoya Naturel Satins 2015 Transitional Collection Review 0

Hey guys, I hope you've all had a wonderful week.

Today I've got the latest from Zoya to share with you.  A new transitional collection to help go from winter to spring has arrived, Naturel Satins, featuring 6 new satin finish shades that are said to be a "beautiful hybrid between matte and glossy polishes! The new Zoya Satin* formula provides opaque coverage and is wears much longer than traditional matte shades. Plus, the forgiving smooth finish hides imperfections! Now that is what we call a great new nail polish" according to the press release.

Also to mention, this collection is not intended to be warn with a glossy topcoat.  I don't mind this at all, because it saves me both time and product.  A win win!

The Naturel Satins 2015 Transitional Collection includes:

Leah: a pale gray with a hint of lavender. (lavender tinged taupe)

Brittany: a pale dusty mauve. (rose mauve creme)

Tove: a true elephant gray. (misty slate gray)

Sage: a dusty mint sage green. (mossy sage green)

Rowan: a light beige-y taupe. (suede taupe creme)

Ana: a pale carnation pink. (light toasted almond creme)

(all swatches shown here are two coats without any top coat.)

I am honestly OBSESSED with this collection; as is my girlfriend whose hands I used to model the swatches.  First off I think the color palette is Excellent, there's nothing I would add or change.  Second, I really love the notion that this is a transitional collection, intended to aid us as the weather and our environments change;  I think it's an excellent idea.

Thirdly, I am a big fan of this new Satin formula Zoya has introduced.  Not quite as matte as I initially anticipated, but still a very pleasant and novel effect.  I have tried many other matte polishes before from various brands, and found them to be streaky, with a tough application that was uneven and messy.  I found the formula on these to be great; each painting on smoothly and effortlessly in two coats, with zero brush strokes.

I highly recommend this collection for everyone, whether you are a salon owner, nail tech, or just a nail polish junkie.  In any case you really can't go wrong with these 6 beauties.

The Naturel Satin 2015 Transitional collection is available now, and retails for $9 per .5 fl oz (15ml) bottle.

Zoya wishes winter/holiday 2014 swatches and review

Zoya wishes winter/holiday 2014 swatches and review 0

Hello everyone.  Happy Hump Day, you've survived and made it to the middle of the week, only a few more days till the weekend.

In the meantime, I've got a great new collection to share with you all from Zoya- Wishes 2014 Winter/Holiday.  Six new winter inspired shades, three of which are Magical Pixie Dusts (matte textured glitter) and three regular nail polishes.

The Wishes Winter/Holiday Collection includes:

Prim: a shimmering periwinkle.  Provided excellent coverage in one coat, and was very highly pigmented.

Haven: a shimmering deep majestic plum with magenta undertones.  I also found this shade to be highly pigmented, and had great coverage in a single coat.

Willa: a classic black creme.  Unfortunately there isn't anything too special to report regarding this shade.  Most people already own a black creme or two in their collection, so this would then be a pass.

And now onto the three Magical Pixie Dust polishes.

Nori: a medium blue with various sized holographic silver glitter particles.  This reads more of a summer shade to me than it does winter, but it's still pretty nonetheless.  For a winter blue I picture a paler icier blue.

Thea: a medium plum purple with silver holographic glitter particles.

Imogen: a black with silver holographic glitter particles.

(all swatches shown here are two coats.)

Overall I enjoyed this collection.  I like the fact that Zoya keeps things fresh by regularly introducing new shades of their Magical Pixie Dust line.  I personally love these matte texture glitters because you don't use them with a base or top coat, and they dry relatively quickly.  Whenever a little girl, say around the age of 5, asks me to paint her nails, I always make her choose from the Pixie Dust collection, and they always Love it.  The sparkle and shine is always truly magical.

I think the Wishes Collection as a whole has a little bit of something for everyone.  It is a nice representation of the season, as we transition from fall to the chillier winter months.  I also find this collection to be a nice departure from the conventional Holiday collections most nail companies come out with, featuring red, gold, and silver glitters.

My personal favorites from this collection include: Imogen, Prim, and Haven.

Each bottle retails for $9-$10 per .5 fl oz, and is available now.

Zoya Matte Velvet Fall 2014 swatches + review

Zoya Matte Velvet Fall 2014 swatches + review 0

Hi everyone.  I hope all is well and that you are all having a great week! It's almost the weekend, so hold on just a little longer.

Today I've got the latest collection from Zoya to share with you all, "Matte Velvet Fall 2014".  This collection is comprised of 6 matte shades that are both bold and mysterious. Zoya says, "All of the color, none of the shine!"

Like most matte finishes, these polishes are to be used on their own, skipping both base and top coats.  This is a Huge time saver, that I absolutely LOVE.  As stated in the initial release, "*MATTEVELVET nail color by Zoya is not intended to be worn with a base coat, top coat or speed dryer of any kind. Due to the unique matte formulation, color is not as long-wearing as traditional nail color. A completely clean, dry nail surface yields the best results for matte nail color wear. If you do elect to use a base coat, make sure that it is 100% dry prior to color application to avoid color separation, cracking or shrinking."

The Matte Velvet collection includes:

Harlow: a matte magenta.  It has some plum purple undertones to it.

Posh: a matte ruby red.  It falls on the darker side of the red spectrum, it's certainly not a bright cherry red, and it has some berry/ blue undertones to it as well.

Dovima: a matte coal black.  It is not a super inky jet black Black, just a smidgen lighter.  It is much darker than a graphite gunmetal gray however.

Savita: a matte vibrant majestic royal purple.

Veruschka: a matte pine green.

Loredana: a dark matte gunmetal gray.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, with NO top coat, taken outdoors in natural sunlight for accurate color rendering.)

I really enjoyed playing around with this collection.  I think it is a great release for the fall, and allows people to try a fun, fresh take on nails.

I found the formula was great, and I didn't experience any issues.  The product painted on very smoothly and easily, and didn't show any brush strokes or streaks.  The formula also dried very quickly, which is always a major plus in my book.  I also found it removed easily too.

The only suggestion I would make, is I wish they included a cobalt blue and burnished gold in this collection.  Those would have been spectacular in this formulation.  Perhaps in the next release. 😉

My personal favorites are: Dovima, Loredana, and Savita.

The Matte Velvet polishes retail for $9, or $54 for a sampler set including all six of the shades.

Zoya Ultra PixieDust Fall 2014 Swatches & Review

Zoya Ultra PixieDust Fall 2014 Swatches & Review 0

Hi guys.  I hope everyone has has a great week.  It's been crazy hot here in Los Angeles, but it is finally starting to cool off.

Today I've got the latest collection from Zoya to share with you: "Ultra PixieDust Fall 2014." 3 new beautiful red toned textured matte glitters that sparkle and shine.

The Ultra PixieDust collection includes:

Oswin: a classic ruby red matte textured glitter.

Arianna: a magenta red matte textured glitter.

Noir: a deep magenta purple matte textured glitter. My personal favorite of the three shades!

(all swatches shown here are two coats. there was no base or top coat used, as suggested for maximum effect.)

Although I myself am not a huge fan of red polishes, I enjoyed this Ultra PixieDust collection.  If it were up to me, I personally would have also included some darker more vampy shades of red, especially because this collection was released for fall, but that's neither here nor there.

Nonetheless, I am a big fan of Zoya's PixieDust collections as a whole.  I love the fact that you do not need to apply a base or top coat.  This saves so much time.  They also dry very quickly, which is a great thing.  No one likes to wait around endlessly for their polish to dry.  Lastly, I was amazed at how easily they removed.  Naturally I used "Zoya's Remove +" which is an excellent nail polish remover in general, but usually I have to struggle to remove glitter polishes.  These removed very easily after holding a cotton soaked in the solution over the nail for a couple of seconds, and then I gently rubbed from side to side, and voila!

The Ultra PixieDust Fall 2014 collection comes in 0.5fl oz bottles, retails for $10 each, and is available now.

ZOYA Entice & Ignite Fall 2014 Swatches & Review

ZOYA Entice & Ignite Fall 2014 Swatches & Review 0

Introducing the latest collections from Zoya for Fall 2014- Entice & Ignite.  ENTICE is comprised of six full- coverage cremes, and IGNITE features six metallic liquid metals.

ENTICE (cremes)

Genevieve: a blackened slate gray.

Ryan: a midnight navy blue.

Margo: an eggplant plum purple.

Nyssa: a rich creamy milk chocolate brown.

Veronica: a regal maroon wine.

Claire: a dark vampy burgundy.

IGNITE (metallic metals)

Teigen: a glistening pungent magenta pink with gold shimmer.

India: a regal and royal ruby red with gold shimmer. Covered beautifully in just one coat.

Autumn: a fiery copper with gold shimmer.

Yuna: a dark gray with gold shimmer. Covered beautifully in just one coat.

Remy: a sapphire blue with gold shimmer. Covered beautifully in just one coat.

Sansa: a rich purple with gold shimmer.

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats with a top coat.)

Overall I am very impressed with this latest release from Zoya.  Although I definitely prefer the liquid metallics from the IGNITE Collection, the ENTICE Collection still features many desirable shades for the cool season.  I found the formula to be quite excellent with all of the shades, with complete coverage in two thin coats; and as always Zoya lacquers are vegan- friendly and 5 Free (dibutyl phthalate (DBP), toluene, formaldehyde, resin, & camphor.)

I have to say I am shocked and highly impressed as to how highly pigmented the IGNITE line is, with three of the shades essentially providing complete coverage in a single coat; what I Love too call a "One Coat Wonder."  This is typically unheard of for metallic polishes.

My personal pics from both collections are: Veronica, Geneviev, Teigen, India, & Sansa.

Each of the polishes retails for $9 and are available now.
