Alessandro International Spring 2015 Sunday Rose Collection Review

Alessandro International Spring 2015 Sunday Rose Collection Review 0

"SUNDAY ROSE In Love with Spring... International runways and the fashion universe promise a magical spring awakening for 2015.  The big fashion trend is "intense pastels" and alessandro International brings you highly concentrated yet soft colors, both warm and cool, making every look flatteringly fresh and pretty, like an enchanted spring bouquet.

Who doesn't look forward to the first signs of spring after a long winter? Delicate hues and rosy freshness awaken the desire for everything new.  With its new line of nail colors: Sunday Rose for a spring look, alessandro International turns spring awakening into a dreamlike romantic rendezvous.

The Sunday Rose line is a new interpretation of classic pastel tones in more sophisticated yet, expressive colors.  And these flamboyant heavenly hues with ices pastel notes will take you in the loveliest and most feminine fairytale adventure this season.

As a highlight, our magic top coat "Euphoria" creates a rose- golden glitter effect resembling spring-like dew.  Fine, multi-sparkling sequins encourage you to try out countless variations when applying it.  Apply as a color accent on the nail tip, a complete nail color, or as a final top coat over your favorite hue, and  voila: fairytale euphoria guaranteed!" according to the press release.

The Spring 2015 Sunday Rose Collection includes:

Pastel Mint: a sage mint green creme with a slight shimmer running through it.

Happy Coral: a terracotta coral creme.

Euphoria: various sized coppery glitter particles and fine shimmer in a clear base.  I just used a single coat of this, and yet you can see how densely packed it is with glitters and shimmers.

Tender Rose: a light carnation pink creme.

Sunday Blue: a cornflower blue creme with purple undertones; a blurple shade if you will.  A 1 coat wonder!! Had incredible coverage in a single coat.

Apricot Touch: an apricot peach creme.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

This was my very first experience of ever working with Alessandro Internaitonal, and I must say I am highly impressed.  I found the quality of the polish to be quite excellent, the formula painted on smoothly and evenly, and I found the colors to be highly pigmented.

I really enjoy the simplicity and directness of the polish names.  Some brands get a little too carried away in my opinion in their polish naming process.

Also worth mentioning is the bottle cap's design, I found it be to very unique and also amazing. It sits beautifully in the hand, allowing one to paint with impeccable ease.

The Sunday Rose collection from Alessandro International will be available starting in April 2015.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Spring 2015 Pt. II Review

Rescue Beauty Lounge Spring 2015 Pt. II Review 0

Hey guys.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Today I've got part 2 of Rescue Beauty Lounge's Spring 2015 Collection Je t'aime! Je t'aime! to share with you all.  If you haven't read my first review featuring this collection, check it out here: http://www.merricures.com/blog/rescue-beauty-lounge-spring-2015-review/

I have the two brand new shades to share with you all to round out this collection.

Combien?: a pale yellow gold pearlized shimmer.  Nicely pigmented.  Painted on smoothly and evenly.  [possibly the most important French word to ask when you shop- it means: "How Mucg?" Elegant and neutral, this beige gold with a slight rose cast is not too shy to ask how much.  Combien is jammed-packed with sugary shimmer, but dries down to a matte for a tasteful glam.  Add a swipe of topcoat to amp up the bling factor.]

Trois Oignons Rouges: a vibrant magenta jelly.  Well pigmented color that built up beautifully in just two coats.  [Like the insides of red onions, this color is a cross between magenta and a toned-down fuchsia that dries to a chic matte.]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

I really love both of these colors.  I think they help balance out the rest of the Rescue Beauty Lounge Spring 2015 collection.  I find both of the shades to be highly unique, and the formulas on both was an absolute dream to work with, application could not have been smoother or easier.

Rescue Beauty Lounge nail polish retails for $20 per .4oz (12ml) bottle, and is available exclusively on their website: http://www.rescuebeauty.com/

KB Shimmer Glitter in Bloom

KB Shimmer Glitter in Bloom 0

Hey guys,  I hope you've all had a great week!

I'm really excited to introduce famed indie polish brand KBShimmer.  KBShimmer was founded in 2008 by a husband and wife team, now how lovely is that?!  Their polishes are all completely unique, and not what you typically find out store shelves.

"KBShimmer unveils SS 2015 collection. Say goodbye to winter's dark hues, embrace sunny skies and open toe shoes with KBShimmer's Spring Summer 2015 collection!

There's nothing better than the first signs of Spring and all the joy that it brings! Our Spring 2015 collection is inspired by sun-kissed days and lush gardens blooming, the Easter season, and Pantone's 2015 spring color , Aquamarine, says KBShimmer owner Christy Rose.  What better way to celebrate that Spring has sprung then with creamy pastels, metallic glitters, and a touch of sparkle and shine?" according to the press release.

The KBShimmer SS 2015 collection is comprised of 12 colors, however I have 3 of  them to share with you, and two sneak peeks at upcoming Summer shades:

Blue-d Lines: blue holographic color.  Incredibly dense.  One of the Best holographic polishes I have ever come across!!! I am personally wearing it on my toes as I type 😉 . (Spring collection)

Sweet Egg-scape: a pale pink with multi-colored shapes and sized glitters... blue stars, red squares, magenta triangles, white hexagons, etc.  I was very surprised and pleased with how easily it removed. (Spring collection)

Meow or Never: a milky white grey with multi-sized glitters in white, cornflower blue, lavender, and purple.  This also removed very easily, especially for a glitter. (Spring collection)

A sneak peek at upcoming Summer shades...

Rum Me the  Right Way: neon yellow creme.  No white base coat needed, which is amazing and very unique from my experience. (Summer collection) Retails for $7.50.

Dust in the Bottle: fine silver holographic shimmer in a clear base.  I personally would't recommend this shade by itself, use it instead as a top coat to add dimension and magic sparkle. (Summer collection)

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light.)

This was my first experience with KBShimmer polishes, and I must say I am rather impressed.  I think the quality of the polishes was excellent.  They were all very highly pigmented, which is a huge plus in my book.  The glitters removed easily, the neon didn't require a white base coat to make it truly pop, and the holographic was truly holographic.

I would definitely recommend picking up some KBShimmer polishes for yourself and giving them a try.

KBShimmer polishes are 3 free, and retail for $8.75, *unless stated otherwise*

For more information on KBShimmer, or to purchase, check them out online: https://www.kbshimmer.com/

Morgan Taylor- Ooh La La Collection Spring Summer 2015 Review

Morgan Taylor- Ooh La La Collection Spring Summer 2015 Review 0

"Romantic and Classic Parisian Spring/ Summer Shades.  This spring, get inspired by the chic and sophisticated style of Paris with the Ooh La La Spring/Summer 2015 collection from Morgan Taylor, which features four NEW soft , whimsical shades.  From a teal creme to warm pinks and a multicolor glitter, each shade delivers a classic, yet on-trend finish for any look this season.

"I'm always inspired by Paris- from its romantic essence, iconic art and architecture to its fashion trends" said CEO and founder Danny Haile.  For this collection, we developed a color palette around this theme using soft to lavish shades filled with vintage charm," according to the press release.

The Ooh La La Collection includes:

Amour Color Please: a hot fuchsia pink creme with a purple shimmer.  Very highly pigmented.  I had full coverage in a single coat.

Escar-go ti France: white, pink, magenta, baby blue, holographic silver various sized round glitters in a clear base.  Was easy to remove, which is a huge plus.

Postcards from Paris: a light mint green creme.  A one coat wonder.

Cancan we Dance: almost neon flamingo pink creme with purple shimmer.  So gorgeous in person.  Was also highly pigmented and provided full coverage in a single coat.

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

Overall I am really impressed with this collection.  I like that its small, only four shades, but I think Morgan Taylor chose wisely.  I really love the glitter, Escar-go to France, its pretty unique as well in my opinion.  Also worth mentioning is how easily it removed.  I also really like the purple shimmer that runs through two of the shades- Cancan we Dance? & Amour Color Please; it adds dimension and depth.  The formulas overall were fantastic.  I found almost all of the shades to be very highly pigmented.  They all painted on smoothly and evenly.

The Ooh La La collection will be available for a limited time beginning in May 2015.  They retail for $8.50 each.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Spring 2015 Review

Rescue Beauty Lounge Spring 2015 Review 0

"Ji Baek's newest spring collection- Je t'aime! Je t'aime! - is inspired by her love of Parisian farmer's markets.  Who can resist the refreshing banter between sweet-talking vendors? Living in Paris has inspired Baek's aesthetic and color palette.  Je t'aime! Je t'aime! is her take on French culture," according to the press release.

The Je t'aime! Je t'aime! Spring 2015 Collection includes:

C'est Tout: metallic gray green.  Reminds me of a Tahitian pearl. A very rare and beautiful shade.  [a rivalry between gunmetal and green; sometimes it appears to be a dark gray with blue undertones and in another moment, you will see green with micro shimmers of pink, blue, and gold.  If you are ever asked, "Avec ca?" You should answer with a resounding, "That's all!"]

Ah, Oui: periwinkle purple jelly creme.  Reminds me of Essie's Boxer Shorts from a couple years ago, but this jelly-like finish is quite different and unique. ["Ah, yes." Just keep saying this if you don't understand a thing anyone is saying.  This colo epitomized Parisian chic.  It's not blue, not purple, and not gray; it is the embodiment of the picturesque, powdery cloudless Parisian sky.  This polish is a glasslike periwinkle cream-jelly, transparent in one coat with an exceptionally smooth application; you can even add another coat on the tips of your nails for an eiasy gradient effect.]

Bonne Journee: metallic strawberry pink delight.  Requires three coats for full opacity.  ["Have a good day," is how we should all take leave of anyone- this is a happy rose pink with blue undertones and a hint of copper.  The shimmery satin finish will put a smile on your face and spread happiness! This cool pink complements all skin colors and the formula simply glides on.  Pink shimmer has never looked this good.]

Pardonne Moi: metallic navy blue with purple and silver undertones. Reflects purple with catches of light.  It is very gorgeous in person! Also required three coats for full opacity. [This phrase somehow sounds more chic than "excuse me" when you're bumping into people at the market.  This color is a satin finish of exceptional indigo blue overcast with iris purple.  Flashes of beautifully generous shimmer gleams with stunning sparkles.]

(unless stated otherwise, all swatches shown here are two coats, taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

Overall I really enjoyed this collection.  I think it is a nice departure from the typical bright or pastel creme shades most nail companies usually introduce for the Spring season.  The formulas were all excellent and very user friendly.  I didn't have any issues with brush strokes or unevenness, including with the metallics.

Also worth noting, I love that the names are in French, yet I can still manage to pronounce them even though I don't speak a word of the language. 😉

I think a couple of the colors are very unique and rare, and are most certainly worth picking up.  My two personal favorites from this collection are- C'est Tout & Pardonne Moi.

Please keep in mind there will be two new additional shades added to this collection at a later date- Combien? & Trois Oignons Rouges.  I will keep you posted as more information comes.

The Je t'aime! Je t'aime! Spring 2015 Collection of Rescue Beauty Lounge will be  available exclusively on their website sometime in April, and will retail for $20 each.

Venice Beach ’81 Collection Spring/Summer from Cuccio

Venice Beach ’81 Collection Spring/Summer from Cuccio 0

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you guys all had a great weekend.

Today I've got a great new Spring/Summer collection of gel polishes to share from the folks at Cuccio.

"In 1981 Roby and Tony Cuccio set up shop selling nail polish on the world famous Venice Beach boardwalk.  On that day their dream of building an international beauty brand that embodied the essence and magic of the California lifestyle began!

Inspired by the boardwalk's boundless energy and inspiration, the VENICE BEACH '81 collection is a celebration of color honoring the spirit of this dream and the mecca for style, fashion and creativity that Venice Beach has become," according to the press release.

The Venice Beach '81 Collection of Cuccio Colour Veneer includes:

A Star is Born: various sized pink and baby blue matte hexagonal glitters, along with tinnier matte navy glue glitters, all in a clear base.

Soul Surfer: a light dusty lilac purple creme.

Mimes & Musicians: a mix of pale yellow, pink, and magenta matte hexagonal glitters, all in a clear base.

Roller Skate: an aqua teal blue shimmer.

Good Vibrations: a pastel buttery yellow creme.

Pink Cadillac: a bright magenta pink creme.

Muscle Beach: a bold deep teal creme with slight green undertones.

California Dreamin': a vivid orange coral creme.

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, cured each for 30 seconds in an LED light, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

Overall I think this is a great collection from Cuccio.  The color palette is really pretty and a very good representation of the colorful eclecticism Venice Beach embodies.  Growing up in Los Angeles myself I have frequented the beaches and boardwalks of Venice since childhood, and have many  fond memories.  All that aside, I won't let my childhood interfere with providing a non-biased review.

The formulas on all of the shades was really great, and applied smoothly and evenly in two coats.  None of the shades required a third coat, which I was very pleased with.

My personal favorites from the collection include: California Dreamin;, Soul Surfer, and Roller Skate.

The Venice Beach '81 Collection of Cuccio Colour Veneer is available now.

Check out Cuccio online here for more information: http://cuccio.com/index.php

Essie Spring 2015 Collection Review

Essie Spring 2015 Collection Review 0

"The profusion of petals on the runway and on the most stylish streets announces essie's spring 2015 collection.  Inspired by the bright blooms seen all around, from Instagram to fashion runways to the streets, this season's go-to botanical look is more than just a budding trend.

With the collection's hero shade inspired by a "flowerista"- a fashionista who create her signature style from floral-inspired fashions- the spring 2015 collection will breathe beauty into all aspects of life.  Now is the time for every woman of style to stock her wardrobe with essie looks to last a lifetime.

Can't wait for spring's first bloom to sport your favorite petal pushers? Prefer the garden variety over all others? Well, it sounds like you're a true connoisseur of florals- a real flowerista.  Now is the moment to create a wardrobe that is picked perfect, because just like spring itself, blossom dandy style always comes back in fashion- it's a perennial chic.

In addition, essie gel will be launching a coinciding set of gel colors sharing the same names and shades as the spring 2015 collection," according to the press release.

Essie's Spring 2015 collection includes:

Perennial Chic: a creamy opaque peachy beige.  It's not a skin tone shade if that's what you were thinking.  I love it nonetheless.  [sumptuous tawny tulip]

Petal Pushers: a slate gray creme with lavender undertones.  [smoky stone rose]

Garden Variety: a bold oceanic teal creme with blue undertones. [teal blue orchid]

Flowerista: a deep magenta creme.  The shade you've all been waiting for.  This is the "it" color for spring.  A must have in your arsenal of polishes. [passionate plum dahlia]

Blossom Dandy: a light blue mint creme.  It is very similar to their cult color "Mint Candy Apple," but is slightly more blue, and not quite as green leaning.  [mint creme hydrangea]

Picked Perfect: a creamy camel.  A one coat wonder.  Had excellent coverage in a single coat!! It is much darker than Perennial Chic.  [antique almond peony]

(all shades shown her are 2 coats, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

As a whole, I really Love this collection.  I think it is such a gorgeous color palette for spring, and the colors all go together beautifully, which is why I posted the pic with different shades on each finger! (love that look).  The formulas on all of them were great, giving me absolutely no problems.

This collection is special for a couple of reasons.  First off, this is the first time Essie has collaborated with a fashion designer to create the colors, in this case- Rebecca Minkoff.  I think Rebecca did a remarkable job of picking shades that are elegant, yet fun and edgy.  Also, this collection is the first time Essie has released both gel and nail polishes together with the same name.

I must admit it is really hard for me to pick favorites in this collection.  I honestly think all of the shades are rather gorgeous and great.  Nonetheless, if I had to choose my top favorites, they include: Flowerista, Petal Pushers, Perennial Chic, & Garden Variety.

Essie's Spring 2015 collection retails for $8.50 per bottle and will be available in March at essie.com, fine salons and beauty destinations nationwide.

Soft Shades by OPI 2015 Review

Soft Shades by OPI 2015 Review 0

"The number one salon brand, OPI, is celebrating the lighter side of nail color.  With signature high-fashion colors and iconic shade names, OPI has been a go-to for salon professional for 30 years.  Now, to bring the richly pigmented formulas you love to the season's hottest nude matte nail trend, OPI introduces the new SoftShades Collection.  This of-the-moment collection of blushes, nudes, and matte shades delivers rich, true-to-bottle color with just a few coats, even in the lightest hues.

These six pastel hues are the perfect way to lighten up your spring style.  Available in sheer white Chiffon My Mind, pink and white flecked with white daisy decal Petal Soft, pink-toned beige Put it in Neutral, light beige Act Your Beige!, pearlescent silver This Silver's Mine!, and iridescent glitter Make Light of the Situation," according to the press release.

The 2015 Soft Shades by OPI Collection includes:

Put it in Neutral: a semi sheer pale pink creme with beige undertones. [I'm driven to get my hands on this pinkish beige.]

Make Light of the Situation: a multi- iridescent glitter in a sheer opalescent base.  It surprisingly removed very easily.  [Fine, iridescent glitter sparkles with style]

Act Your Beige: a sheer nude pink.  It is more beige toned than Put It In Neutral. Took 3 coats.  [Age is just a number, but this light beige is #1!]

This Silver's Mine!: metallic silver kissed with pink.  The pink sheen is very subtle, and barley noticeable once painted on.  I wanted to LOVE this shade, because at first glance it seemed like a unique silver with the pearly sheen to it.  But once I tried it, I hated it.  A streaky nightmare, I do not recommend this shade.  [I totally dig this pearly silver!]

Chiffon My Mind: a white/pink with iridescent shimmer. Took 3 coats. [I can't stop thinking about this lovely sheer white.]

Petal Soft: Pale pink and white matte glitters in circles, tiny specs, and flower bits.  I applied it over Put It In Neutral.  The flower bits are rather difficult to target.  I put some drops of this shade on a some tinfoil and used an orange wood stick to pick up the flower pieces I wanted.  In general with this shade, to get a higher glitter concentration, I recommend using a dabbing motion. [White daisies softly float with pink and white speckles]

(most shades shown here are two coats, unless stated otherwise.)

Overall I am not a huge fan of this collection, primarily because I dislike sheer polishes in general- they aren't for me.  If you are a sheer polish lover, than this collection is absolutely for you.  I found the sheer shades needed to be build up too much in order to get proper color and to conceal any patchiness.  The Petal Soft shade was annoying to fish out the daisy flower glitter pieces, and This Silver's Mine was terribly streaky.

My most favorite shade in this collection I would recommend is Make Light of the Situation.

NCLA: an L.A. Fairytale Spring 2015 Review

NCLA: an L.A. Fairytale Spring 2015 Review 0

Hey guys.  Happy Hump Day!

I hope you're all doing well.

Today I'm stoked to share with you all the latest collection from hip Los Angeles based nail brand NCLA- An L.A. Fairytale for Spring 2015.  Comprised of four matte glitters, although a relatively small collection it still packs a magical punch!

an LA Fairytale Collection includes:

Once Upon a Time: a creamy oatmeal beige with white, magenta, baby pink, baby blue round matte glitter particles and yellow tiny bar glitters.  Has great coverage with even just one coat! ["Your fairytale finish is here with this multi-colored glitter confection that adds a magical final touch to any look!"]

Enchanted City: a sheer clear base with micro fine silver holo glitter, and larger matte aqua blue glitter bits.  Visible nail line does show if used on its own. ["Who needs a bluebird on their shoulder when this sparkly baby blue lacquer adds a cheerful dose of color to any look?"]

Valet My Carriage: a sheer clear base with micro find gold holo glitter, and larger matte light peach round glitter bits.  Also has visible nail line showing if used on its own. ["No need for Rumpelstiltskin here! This glitter-infused topcoat will give you more gold than any princess in all of La La Land."]

Ever After in LA: a sheer clear base with fine silver holo glitter, and larger matte white/pink glitter bits.  Also has visible line showing through if used on its own.  ["Mirror, mirror, on the wall, our silver glitter polish is the best reflective surface of them all!"]

(all swatches shown here are two coats and are shown without a top coat, as recommended to ensure matte effect.)

This was my first time trying NCLA's nail lacquer line, although I have used and Love their Nail Wraps.  I must say I was also pleased with their polishes.  Glitter can be a nightmare, we've all been there, and know it all to well.  However, these all removed very easily;  I didn't have to struggle or soak them in acetone, they simply came off with regular polish remover.  Also, I have to note how densely packed with glitter they are.  Unlike most other glitter polishes on the marker these didn't require multiple coats or finagling of the glitter in any way to get specific pieces.  It painted on smoothly and easily.

Once Upon A Time aside, I recommend using the other three shades to layer atop other solid shades, for instance paring Enchanted City with a baby blue creme like Santa Monica Shore Thing or Eight Days a Week (not shown here).  But if you are into the sheer look and want some magical pizzazz and sparkle wear them alone.  Either way you can't go wrong.

Each of the NCLA shades from an L.A. Fairytale retails for $16 and is available now.

For more information on NCLA or to purchase, check out their website: http://www.shopncla.com/

Zoya Delight Spring 2015 Collection Review

Zoya Delight Spring 2015 Collection Review 0

Hey guys, I hope you are all doing well.

I am very excited to share the latest collection with you from Zoya: Delight for Spring 2015. This collection is comprised of 6 happy and fun spring shades, 3 of which have a blue shimmer running though them, and 3 cremes.

The Delight Spring 2015 collection includes:

Lillian: a light aqua blue creme. [faded aquamarine]

Eden: a bright magenta creme. [classic spring flower pink]

Daisy: a pastel lemon yellow with blue shimmer running through it. [refreshing lemon meringue yellow metallic with turquoise metallic flash]

Tiana: a pastel mint green creme. [pistachio gelato green]

Leslie: a light lavender with iridescent blue shimmer running through it. [soft spring lavender metallic with turquoise flash]

Rayne: a bright icy blue with iridescent blue shimmer running through it. [dewy, spring blue metallic with turquoise metallic flash]

(all swatches shown here are two coats and are photographed outdoors in natural light.)

Overall I really enjoyed this collection.  I think the colors are perfect as spring approaches and the weather warms up.  I really enjoyed the blue iridescent shimmer that runs through three of the shades, I found it unique and pretty.  As far as the formulas are concerned, they were all great, and provided very easy, clean, and smooth application.

My personal favorites include: Tiana, Leslie, & Daisy

The Delight collection is available now, and retails for $9 each, or $54 for the entire collection.

Deborah Lippmann Whisper Collection- Spring 2015 review

Deborah Lippmann Whisper Collection- Spring 2015 review 0

"Shhh… this Spring, find serenity with Deborah Lippmann’s new Whisper collection, featuring sheer, light colors that are clean and understated, yet modern and refined. As easy to apply as they are to wear, all four shades float over the nails with a soft and effortless elegance. Always inspired by the fashion and beauty around her, it was backstage at Honor’s S/S 2014 show, where Deborah became captivated by the quiet, yet dramatic effects of the light cascading through the models chiffon fabrics as they exited backstage. A moment – calm and peaceful amongst the chaos. Like a soft whisper.

Explore your softer side with these tranquil shades: Like Dreamers Do, a sheer pale bisque previewed at the Badgley Mischka, Theory and Donna Karan S/S 2015 runway shows, A Fine Romance, a sheer pearly champagne, Misty Morning, a sheer blue-grey, and Chantilly Lace, a sheer iridescent pink" according to the press release.

The Whisper collection includes:

A Fine Romance: a pale nude with a fine golden iridescent shimmer.

Misty Morning: a super pale powder baby blue with grey undertones.

Chantilly Lace: a super pale powder pink with iridescent shimmer.

Like Dreamers Do: a light toasted almond with subtle gray undertones.

(all swatches shown here are two coats).

This collection to me serves as a nice respite from all the highly saturated and dark shades we've been wearing for fall/winter.  Keep in mind this entire four piece collection is SHEER, so if you are not a fan of sheer polishes with visible nail line showing, consider yourself warned, this collection might not be for you.

I typically am not a fan of sheer polishes, but I find these shades in particular to breathe a breath of fresh air.  The undertones or iridescent shimmer gives them dimension and subtle texture, something not present in other brand's sheer polishes.

Considering the fact that the shades are all sheer, I did not have any problems with application.  I found each shade painted on smoothly and evenly in two coats; being very well pigmented for sheer shades.  I have seen other bloggers using three coats, but I don't find it necessary.  This collection is intended to be very light, airy, and ethereal.

My personal favorites in this collection are A Fine Romance & Chantilly Lace

Each shade retails for $18, and can be purchased online at www.deborahlippmann.com and at
Barneys New York, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Sephora stores nationwide.

For more information on Deborah Lippmann, check them out here: http://www.deborahlippmann.com/

Gelish Mini- Cinderella Spring 2015 Collection Review

Gelish Mini- Cinderella Spring 2015 Collection Review 0

"This spring will be filled with magic and fantastical colors as Gelish MINI introduces the Cinderella 2015 collection.  Celebrating Walt Disney Pictures' release of the new live-action Cinderella, the collection showcases a unique palette inspired by the movie to spark anyone's fancy.  With six whimsical creme to sparkly shades and a trio of glitters from the TRENDS line, any pick is perfect to accent this season with charm and grace"  according to the press release.

CEO and Creator of Gelish, Danny Haile says, "For this classic story, we really wanted to create an iconic selection.  Drawing inspiration from the movie, we were inspired to develop colors and statement glitters in soft, playful shades for the collection."

The 6 main colors from the Cinderella Collection include:

Watch Your Step, Sister!: a vibrant magenta pink creme.

My Carriage Awaits: a peachy coral with subtle fine pink shimmer up close.

Party at the Palace: a Tiffany aqua blue with shimmer.

If the Slipper Fits: an icy blue with iridescent and holo glitters.  A very unique shade.  This reminds me most of Cinderella in the collection, and happens to be my favorite shade.  Required three coats to make it opaque.

Ella of a Girl: a strawberry pink milkshake creme.

Live Like There's No Midnight: a deep blue with fine micro purple shimmer.

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, unless stated otherwise).

And the three new TRENDS shades include:

Make it Fit: multi colored glitter in a clear base.

A Moment of Magic: mostly yellow gold glitter, with some white and pink glitter bits mixed in, all in a clear base.

Stepsisters Rule!: mostly red glitter, with some magenta and holo glitters mixed in, all in a clear base.  This shade is Perfect for Valentine's Day.

(all TRENDS swatches are three coats to show color accurately).

Overall I think Gelish did an excellent job of curating a collection that embodies the classic fairy tale.  There is honestly something in this collection for everyone.  Some of the colors are highly unique, like If the Slipper Fits, but some are also just okay, like Ella of a Girl; I must have reviewed at least 6 other gel polishes that look like this.  Nonetheless, I am a huge fan of the shimmer in a lot of the colors, like Party at the Palace, and Live Like There's No Midnight; it provides depth and dimension to the colors.

As far as the TRENDS are concerned, I think they're great.  Layered they can be amazing on their own, or used as a top coat over another color, for some extra added oomph and pizzazz.

My personal favorites include: If the Slipper Fits, Stepsisters Rule!, I'll Make it Fit, and Party at the Palace.

Now that I have played around with this collection, I can't wait to see the film when it comes out March 13th.

In the meantime, this Cinderella collection of Gelish MINI's will be available for a limited time starting in February, and will be available at Sally Beauty Stores.  They retail for $11.95 per .3 fl oz (9mL) bottle.

For more information on Gelish, check them out online: http://gelishmini.com/

And until the film comes out, enjoy the trailer:

cnd- flora & fauna collection spring 2015 swatches + review

cnd- flora & fauna collection spring 2015 swatches + review 0

"Retreat to the peaceful harmony of nature with the new Spring 2015 Flora & Fauna collection from CND. Colors and styles are inspired by watercolor impressions of luminous landscapes.

“This season’s trends are all about unplugging from today’s digital world and embracing the simpler things. Sun-bleached tones and dreamy watercolor paintings emerge from the perfection of nature,” says CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “Nails are easy and softly squared – as wearable and simple as a barefoot stroll through the grass while finishes play with matte and shiny effects” according to the press release.

There are 8 new shades in Vinylux, six of which are part of the new Flora & Fauna Collection, and two are being released, Thistle Thicket and Blush Teddy, which were both previously released in the Shellac line.

The Vinylux Flora & Fauna Collection includes:

Dandelion: a pearlized peach/pink shimmer.  Has a pearlized golden sheen running through it.  Slightly on the sheer- streaky side.  Required three coats to even out the brushstrokes.  I wish the formula was a little better because I really love this color.

Salmon Run: a salmon pink creme with peach undertones.  Also on the streaky/patchy side.  Required three coats.

Creekside: a powdery pastel baby blue creme.  I Love this shade.

Field Fox: a neutral creme taupe with mauve undertones.  A gorgeous year round color in my opinion!

Wild Moss: a medium mossy green with micro silver shimmer specks. The silver specks give this shade an almost texturized look, although it's not a texture polish.

Fragrant Freesia: a pale peony pink with iridescent pink/purple shimmer running through it.

Now the two shades being introduced to the Vinylux line, but not necessarily part of the Flora & Fauna Collection.

Thistle Thicket: a very pale lavender gray.

Blush Teddy: a creamy light pink rose with a slight shimmer.  Reminds me of a strawberry milkshake.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, unless stated otherwise)

The Flora & Fauna Shellac collection includes the same six new shades as mentioned and shown above, with the exception of Thistle Thicket & Blush Teddy, both of which are already available in Shellac.

I really enjoyed this collection as a whole.  I find the colors to be very refreshing and going back to a place of Earthy nature.  I was a little disappointed in the formula on a couple of the Vinylux shades.  I have never had issues in the past with any Vinylux, so I am not sure if it's these particular colors, or if I happened to receive a  poorly mixed batch.   On the other hand, I had zero issues with the Shellac shades, so if you are still interested in those particular shades I had difficulty with in Vinlyux, I would recommend you skip those and get the Shellac version of the color instead.  My personal favorites include: Creekside, Field Fox, and Dandelion.

CND Additives- Flora & Fauna Collection Spring 2015

CND Additives- Flora & Fauna Collection Spring 2015 0

"Retreat to the peaceful harmony of nature with the new Spring 2015 Flora & Fauna collection from CND. Colors and styles are inspired by watercolor impressions of luminous landscapes.

“This season’s trends are all about unplugging from today’s digital world and embracing the simpler things. Sun-bleached tones and dreamy watercolor paintings emerge from the perfection of nature,” says CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “Nails are easy and softly squared – as wearable and simple as a barefoot stroll through the grass while finishes play with matte and shiny effects,” according to the official press release.

CND's Additives are in my opinion one of their most versatile and innovative products to date.  They can be used in so many different creative ways, the possobilites are literally endless.  They can be blended with nail polish, acrylic powder, or gel (my personal favorite).  I personally love to do ombre fades with them over gel polish.  For the pro's out there, CND's site offers tons of wonderful step-by-steps on very cool creative looks you can achieve with them; check it out here: http://www.cnd.com/pro-products/enhancements/additives/additives

CND Flora & Fauna Additives Collection includes:

Hydrangea Bloom: a glistening light blue with silver shimmer undertones. (pigment effect)

Dream Lily: a fine holographic pink glitter.  It truly pops in person, and looks amazing when layered onto darker shades. (glitter)

Nectar Glaze: a glistening light pink with silver shimmer undertones.  Think of this as the pink alternative to "Hydrangea Bloom". (pigment effect)

Silver Ponyfoot: a shimmering silver gunmetal. (pigment effect)

Hummingbird: a fine iridescent glitter, that reflects shades of green and pink.  When layered over white you get a very snowy Holiday effect, but when you layer it over black, or a dark color, the magic really starts to happen.  Hands down my most favorite in the collection!  It is so gorgeous in person.  I would personally buy the entire kit just to get this shade alone.

(all swatches are shown on either a white or black gel background to demonstrate different effects).

As you all well know I am a Huge huge fan of CND's Additives, and this latest limited edition offering is no different.  I personally am obsessed with CND's Additives, and if you haven't ever tried them for yourself, I highly recommend you find your local distributor and get some.
