Tweezerman Implements

Tweezerman Implements 0

Hi guys.  I hope all is well.

Fellow nail techs always ask me what implements I use for my services, and I am finally going to share that with you all.

I use all Tweezerman implements.  They are excellent quality, very trustworthy, non destructible, and easy to sanitize and keep client.

Some of the products I'm going to share with you include:

Regency Finish Collection Fingernail Clipper: the stunning laser-etched pattern is 100% sanitizable and easily clips fingernails with ultra-precise blades and ultimate performance.

Regency Finish Collection Toenail Combo Clipper: this combo clipper and case feature an extra sturdy super sharp blades for clipping toenails with perfect precision.  The removable case is designed to catch clippings for easy throw away and clean up and is shaped for comfort and easy handling. $12

I love these clippers especially for the removable case that collects all of the clippings.  I hate when you walk into a salon and you see discarded nail clippings all over the place- super gross! There are no excuses with this one!

Pushy and Nail Cleaner (Stainless Steel): 2-in-1 nail tool combines our famous Pushy cuticle pusher with a convenient nail cleaner.  Super-thin edges are buffed smooth to prevent scratching while the textured body provides a perfectly secure grip. $18

I use this little tool particularly to clean under my clients nail beds, and it gets into the tiny grooves with no issues!

Half Moon Pushy and Curette: half-moon shaped pushy is contoured to tenderly push back cuticles without scraping the natural nail. The reverse end of the tool features a curette designed especially for cleaning edges and tight corners where polish and debris hide, particularly essential in aiding the removal of gel polish that can remain on the nail after soaking.

I use this gadget for removing all dead skin and excess cuticles from the nail plate.  It is gentle enough that it doesn't scratch the nail plate whatsoever, and it works Wonders with pedicures too.

Eco Friendly File: for medium sanding on acrylic nails and for filing edge on natural nails. 100% biodegradable. $3.50

Premium Emory Board: pack of 5 thin wood files.  Ultra durable. ($5 for 5  files)

Sansation Nail File: reinforced center for durability and strength.  Durable, washable and sanitizable. $4

I really like the shape of the files, and love the fact that some of them are washable and can be reused.

Ingrown Toenail File and Cleaner: after you soak and while nails are soft, gently slide either end of file under ingrown to lift nail- choose the flat or curved end depending on shape of nail. To file away ingrowns, slide file side under lifted area and slowly pull file out to thin the under-surface of the nail and relieve pressure. $14

I am personally very fortunate that I do not come in contact with many clients suffering from ingrowns, but when I do encounter them on occasion, this tool gets the job done!

Grip N' Snip Spiral Spring Cuticle Nipper: features a spiral spring for the ultimate in style, comfort and control. The looped handle maximizes precision and provides a no-slip grip, while the opening and closing action is ultra-safe and smooth. $25

Rockhard Cuticle Nipper: the sturdy design of this nipper is reinforced by its rock-hard, stainless steel construction.  Features sharp, long-lasting snipping tips for smooth cutting.  Great to take to the nail salon. 1/4 jaw. $26

If your only going to invest in 1 pair of nippers, I highly recommend the Spiral Spring ones.  I know the shape seems a bit odd at first, but let me tell you, don't be fooled by the shape.  This bad boy cuts like no other, and the spiral spring is so revolutionary, I don't know how I used traditional cuticle nippers prior!  The shape is so sturdy, and aerodynamic, it just feels so right when its in your hand.

and last but not least,

Sapphire Crystal Foot File: features tiny, abrasive sapphire-ceramic crystals fixed to an easy to clean stainless steel handle and uses the latest, advanced surface technology to provide maximum abrasivity for the ultimate in comfort and efficiency.  Created to withstand frequent sterilization by autoclave or hot-air devices, as well as spray or liquid disinfectants. $38

I can not perform a pedicure without this!  It is textured on both sides, with one side being significantly more coarse than the other.  I haven't had to use a chemical callus treatment on any of my clients since I started using this.  I can even perform dry pedicures without water and as long as I use this foot file my clients feet are baby soft like butter.

GelColor by OPI Fall/Winter 2014 the Nordic Collection- Swatches + Review

GelColor by OPI Fall/Winter 2014 the Nordic Collection- Swatches + Review 0

I am excited to introduce the latest collection of GelColor by OPI for Fall/Winter 2014- the Nordic Collection.  Twelve new hues to satisfy any and all clients during the coming cooling months.

According to OPI Co-Founder Suzi Weiss- Fischmann, "The colors of the Nordic Collection by OPI echo all the contrasts that inspired me for this palette.  Spicy browns and rich wines like the cinnamon buns and heady glogg of Sweden (Going My Way or Norway?, Ice-Bergers & Fries, How Great is Your Dane?, Skating on Thin Ice-Land), the floral tones of the colorfully painted houses of Denmark (Can't aFjord Not to, Suzi Has a Sweed Tooth), gazing in wonder at the northern lights of Finland (My Voice is a Little Norse, My Dogsled is a Hybrid, Thank Glogg it's Friday!), the moonlike surface of Iceland's lava fields (Viking in a Vinter Vonderland); and the glow of Norway's midnight sun and the moody waters of its fjords (OPI with a Nce Finn-ish, Do you have this color in Stock-holm?)."

The gel polishes are sold individually, or in 2 kits.  Each kit contains six gel polish shades from the collection, 20 Expert Touch Removal Wraps, a blank chained nail palette to display swatches, tabletop instructions, and an instructional brochure.  Each kit contains enough product to perform approximately 82 complete sets.

The fist kit, Nordic #1, contains the following shades:

OPI with a nice Finn-ish: a warm Butterscotch copper color.  Has a shimmering/slight metallic finish to it. (This light, mellowed bronze completes me. The end.)

Thank Glogg it's Friday!: a deep shimmering cranberry. (The start of the weekend is nothing to "wine" about!)

Ice-Bergers & Fries: a warm milk chocolate brown. ("Wood" you like a chocolate shake with that?)

My Dogsled is a Hybrid: a ripe mint creme with blue undertones. (Enliven your environment by wearing this creamy sea green.)

How great is your Dane?: an espresso bean brown. (Pass up this cinnamon coffee? You're barking up the wrong tree!)

Can't aFjord not to: a bright tangerine orange creme. (Whatever it takes, get your hands on this extravagantly creamy coral!)

The second kit, Nordic #2, contains the following colors:

Suzi has a Swede Tooth: a bright magenta pink creme. (That's why I always have this strawberry candy pink on hand!)

Do you have this color in Stock-holm?: the perfect bright blurple, a hybrid of a bright purple and cobalt blue. This is one of my personal favorites in this collection! It is so gorgeous and striking in person. (Stock up! This icy blue-violet is in hot demand!)

Going my way or Norway?: a creamy camel color. (No two ways about it... this caramel is delicious!)

Skating on thin Ice-Land: a plum purple. (Watch out! This black cherry is dangerously close to gorgeous!)

Viking in a Vinter Vonderland: a deep dark majestic purple. (You can conquer anything in this powerful, deep purple.)

My Voice is a little Norse: a small silver holographic glitter in a semi sheer gray base.  I used three coats for this shade for full coverage, and to make the gray base more apparent. (This prismatic super-shimmer is worth shouting about.)

(all swatches shown here are two coats, unless stated otherwise, cured fro 30 seconds each in an LED lamp, and sealed with GelColor by OPI Top Coat.  All swatch photos were taken outdoors in natural light for best color representation.)

All in all I am quite pleased with this collection.  Comprised of 9 solid cremes, 2 shimmers, and a glitter I truly believe there is a shade and finish to satisfy even the pickiest of clients.  Typically with fall/winter collections companies introduce a bunch of supremely dark and rather dull shades in my opinion;  Not OPI! These shades are fun, warm, and inviting.  Some I don't necessarily agree are quite right for a fall collection, like Suzi has a Swede Tooth, Can't aFjord not to, and My Dogsled is a Hybrid. Depending on where you live, like me in Los Angeles, CA for instance, it might be 73 degrees outside during Christmas, so you might not go wrong with choosing one of those colors.  It's not that there's anything wrong with those shades, I just personally would have saved them for a spring/summer collection launch.

As far as the formulas are concerned, I didn't experience any issues when working with any of the colors.  They all applied smoothly and beautifully, providing full coverage in two coats, except for My Voice is a Little Norse, which I used three coats to achieve full opacity.

My personal pics from this collection are: Do you have this color in Stock-holm?, My Voice is a Little Norse, and Ice-Bergers & Fries.

Kupa 10pc Carbide Bit Kit

Kupa 10pc Carbide Bit Kit 0

I Love this 10 piece Carbide Bit set from one of the top leaders in the industry- Kupa.  This kit literally has all the tools one would ever need to perform a perfectly finished sculpted manicure!!

Carbide bits shave enhancement product as opposed to scratching it the way sand, file, and diamond bits do.  Beware not to use carbide bits on natural nails.  They are specifically designed for use on nail enhancements.

The Kupa 10 Piece Carbide Bit Kit includes:

- 10 sanding bands

Stainless Steel Mandrel

- 2 Week Backfill Bit: 1/4 the size of a barrel bit, & trenches out 2 weeks worth of growth at the smile line & to replace white tip powder. (Is also commonly referred to as a Maintenance Bit)

- 4 Week Backfill Bit: 1/2 the size of a barrel bit, and is created to trench out 4 weeks of growth.  It is large enough to cut and remove entire nail product if needed. (is also known as a Maintenance Bit)

- Cone Bit: slim longer tapered bit that is used under the nails, cuticles, on top of the nail,  sidewalls, and or to prep the cuticle area for a fill.

- Inverted Backfill Bit: angled & larger at the top, this bit is used to cut and remove nail product in its entirety.

- Large Barrel Bit: used for surface work, shortening length, and backfill cutting. The flat top of the bit can be used to cut a new smile line also.

- Small Barrel Bit: like the Large Barrel Bit mentioned previously, this is also used for surface work, shortening length, and backfill cutting.

- Tapered Barrel Bit: It is perfect for doing work on the top surface, and to cut maintenance on small nails at a flat angle, & at the cuticle and sidewalls.  Also can be used to prep the cuticle area product for a fill due to small circumference at the tip.

- Under Nail Cleaner Bit: a highly pointed bit that's used for tight spaces like under the nail, sidewalls, and for making designer holes in nails to attach jewelry or dangling charms.

- Safety Bit: designed to perform safe cuticle work.  It can be used for underneath the nail and for shaping.  Is also perfect for beveling the enhancement at the cuticle during a fill.
