Essie Summer 2016 Collection review

Essie Summer 2016 Collection review 0

"Travel feeds the soul. Adventure excited the senses.  For thrilling sights in an array of shades, Antigua is the place to just be. From St. John's to English Harbor, the island's colorful towns, gorgeous craft makers, tribal text-styles and brilliant food excite the senses and are ripe for the ideal inspiration for the essie summer 2016 collection.

Summertime is the moment to get inspired by adventurous color, and there is no better place to defy convention and go bold, than the sun-soaked shores of Antigua! Leave the guidebook behind and strike out on a style itinerary all your own. No matter where you go, there's an essie Summer 2016 shade to reflect your fashion ambitions." according to the official press release.

The Essie Summer 2016 Collection includes the following shades-

Hiking Heels: a bright bold cherry red cream. [scorching hot lava red]

Viva Antigua!: a turquoise blue with fine shimmer running through it. [iridescent crystalline turquoise]

Coconut Cove: a vanilla white cream. [sweet cream white]

Loot the Booty: a royal blue with fine blue and purple shimmer in it. [pave sapphire blue]

Tribal Text-Styles: a midnight sparkling gunmetal. [black gold and crushed onyx]

Berried Treasure: a bright red/magenta cream. [bright ruby berry]

(all swatches shown here are two coats and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

What I am most impressed and in love with this collection is the formula, how highly well pigmented the shades were. Almost all of the colors in this collection provided almost complete coverage in a single coat, it was truly remarkable. I used two coats as usual just for good measure.

I also really love the sparkly nature of many of the colors, perfect for summer pedicures.

And even if your not head over heels in love with this entire collection, trust me and at least invest in a couple of the colors; the formula is honestly that good!

My personal favorites are: Tirbal Text-Styles and Loot the Booty

Each bottle is 13.5 ml (0.46 fl oz).

Essie's Summer 2016 Collection retails at $9 per bottle and will be available June 2016

Dazzle Dry Review

Dazzle Dry Review 0

"Dazzle Dry is a Lacquer SYSTEM that delivers what no ordinary nail polish can. The 'Original Gel Alternative' provides Gel-like longevity in wear with the ease of polish.  NO artificial UV/LED lamp or natural UV light curing is needed, nails air-dry Rock Hard in 5 minutes.  It's Vegan, Non-Yellowing and Nutrient-infused to strengthen and protect.  So, get ready to experience the performance of a Gel, almost as quickly and easily as you can say 'polish' and yes, it's actually good for nails too!" according to the company.

But what makes Dazzle Dry different from conventional nail polishes?  It's a system, that has to be used together in order to function and give the results promised, it was developed bny a Dr., Dr. Vivian Valenty, and its 6 free: no toluene, no DBP, no formaldehyde, no camphor, no formaldehyde resin, no nitrocellulose.

There is a process and explicit instructions on applying this product correctly.  Initially I didn't follow the rules and had less than stellar results, but after following the instructions carefully the product was a dream to work with.

Nail Prep is step #1.  This is used to properly cleanse and balance the PH level of the nail.  Even if you weren't using this nail system I would highly recommend using this product with your other nail lacquers as well.  It provides for a solid foundation on which you will paint.

Then apply two coats of Base Coat, letting each coat dry before applying the next coat.

Apply two coats of color lacquer, the first coat painting very thin, allowing it to dry before applying a thicker more generous second coat.

Followed by the Top Coat, and you are good to go within 5 minutes.

The colors I tried include:

Midnight Express: a black licorice cream. Very highly pigmented.

Touch of Love: a light ballet slipper pink cream.

Rapid Red: a traditional cherry red cream, with slight blue undertones. Very highly pigmented.

Blue Blood: a duo-chrome teal, purple, grey, silver.  Color shifts depending on the light reflection.

Booties: a royal blue shimmer with micro fine purple/pink glitter in it. Very highly pigmented.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

First and foremost I was super impressed with how highly pigmented majority of the polishes were; even in one coat I got amazing coverage.  Secondly, I liked how quickly the polish dried, literally in 5 minutes, as opposed to 15 with conventional nail polishes.

I will say that application might take a little longer just because you have to apply two coats of the Base Coat, and you have to let each coat dry before applying the next, but overall, I think with the downtime of the polish setting and drying, you get an overall positive experience.

My personal favorite color I tried was Blue Blood

I highly recommend you give this system a try, especially if you or your clients are looking for a good alternative to gel.

SS 2016 Cuccio Colour Cruise Collection Review

SS 2016 Cuccio Colour Cruise Collection Review 0

"All hands on deck as we set sail on the maiden voyage of the SS Cuccio Colour Cruise Collection. A nautical inspired collection of modern Spring shades guaranteed to help you navigate the changing tides of current styles and fashion in 2016. Ride this wave of glowing, illuminating shades on what we like to call the Love Boat of Colour!" according to the official ad.

The SS Cuccio Colour Cruise Collection consists of the following shades:

Pier Pressure: a soft pale pink nude creme.

Shore Thing: light icy blue frost with gold shimmer running through it.

On Sail: a carnation pink creme.

Got the Navy Blues: a deep royal blue creme. Had great coverage with even one coat.

I Want Moor: a soft peachy champagne pearl.  Had amazing coverage, especially for a polish with this type of finish.

Message in a Bottle: a pale lilac with pink shimmer running through it.

All Decked Out: a coral pink creme.

All Tied Up: a cornflower blue creme.  Incredibly pigmented.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

This is a wonderful collection for the spring time, there is something offered here for everyone.  I really appreciate the funny and quirky names.  In the past, Cuccio's names never really struck a major chord with me, but perhaps they have hired someone new in their naming division ;).

I was really impressed with the formulas on these polishes.  Many of the colors were very highly saturated with pigment, meaning you get great coverage with even one coat.  I didn't experience any issues with streaking or brushstrokes.

My personal favorites in this collection include: All Tied Up, Shore Thing, and Message in a Bottle.

Morgan Taylor: A Very Nauti-cal Girl Summer 2016 Collection Review

Morgan Taylor: A Very Nauti-cal Girl Summer 2016 Collection Review 0

"Ahoy! Set sail with the A Very Nauti-cal Girl collection from Morgan Taylor Lacquer for May through July 2016.  Inspired by summer sailing, this four-piece collection navigates its way through the sun-filled season with a blazing red, deep sea blue, sunset magenta and sailor white.  This collection's cool shades boast a classic twist to keep your nails maritime ready until fall!

"This collection was developed for the beach babe who is the captain of her own style and enjoys expressing her personality through her nails," says brand namesakes Morgan Haile and Taylor Daniel.  "Each shade will help her cruise through the warmer serasons!" according to the official press release.

A Very Nauti-cal Girl collection is comprised of the following shades:

Girls Love Buoys: a bold and bright magenta cream.  A One Coat Wonder! Incredibly well pigmented. Sort of has a neon quality to it regarding the fact that it sort of drys to a matte finish. [magenta creme]

Catch My Drift: a royal blue cream with violet undertones. [cobalt creme]

My Yacht, My Rules!: an off white taupe with a shimmer running through it. [white frost]

Wish Upon A Starboard: a bright fire engine true red cream. [cherry creme]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, without a top coat, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I have to be totally honest and candid with you all, initially I wasn't super impressed with the collection.  I found it sort of basic and unnecessary.  However, once I played around with it I started to change my mind.

I found most of the shades to be well pigmented, Girls Love Buoys in particular- which covered completely in a single coat which always makes me supremely happy. The rest of the colors built up nicely with two coats. There was no issues with streaking or pooling.

My two personal favorites and recommendations from this collection are: Girls Love Buoys and My Yacht, My Rules!

A Very Nauti-cal Girl 2016 summer drop-in collection from Morgan Taylor will be available for a limited time beginning May 2016 at fine salons nationwide and at The suggested retail price is $9 each (15 mL 0.5 fl oz) and $14.95 for the 4-piece mini pack (not shown here)

Essie Resort 2016 Collection Review

Essie Resort 2016 Collection Review 0

"Opulent silk. Saturated hues. Dazzling sights. essie's new resort 2016 collection is influenced by the magnificent fashion, culture, and sheer beauty of India.  From the Gem Palace of Jaipur to vibrant saris, India's incredible mix of colors and tradition is the ultimate inspiration for this mesmerizing collection.

The four new resort shades feature an exhilarating palette of colors seen throughout India's landscape. From the vibrant market stalls and golden desert sands, to the azure waters, the country's unique contrast of tradition and modernism treasures offer splendid inspiration.  Sparkling like a mirrored jewel, essie's resort 2016 collection is sure to be the trip of a lifetime!" according to the official press release.

The essie resort 2016 collection includes the following shades:

Delhi Dance: a bright and bold bubble gum pink creme. [bright sari pink]

Nama-stay the night: a bold medium blue creme. [divine goa blue]

Going guru: a light mint green creme. [meditative mint lime]

Taj-ma-haul: an apricot orange creme. [spicy marigold apricot]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I have a personal soft spot for essie's resort collections.  Every year I get so excited for it to come out.  I like this collection, but I am not head over heels in love; the colors just don't do it for me personally.  They don't remind me of India, but then again, I have never been.  But upon first glance, India is not at all what comes to mind. Had I not read the press release I would of had zero idea there was an Indian influence.

As far as the polishes are concerned, the formula was excellent and they were all very pigmented. I didn't experience any issues when painting, there was zero brushstrokes in sight.

I have to admit though the names are very fun.  Essie doesn't always have the funniest or most clever names that some other brands have, but I feel they're definitely trying to improve that.

My personal favorites are Nama-stay the night and Going guru

The essie resort 2016 collection will be available in May, and retails for $8.50 per 0.46 fl oz (13.5 mL) bottle.

My Boyfriend's Back: a periwinkle blue cream. A 1 Coat Wonder!

Happy Days: a bold orangy coral with a very fine subtle shimmer.

Splish Splash: a turquoise blue cream, with green undertones. A 1 Coat Wonder!

**Great Balls of Fire: Sephora exclusive. Strawberry red creme.  Not shown here.

(all swatches shown here a two coats, taken outdoors in natural sunlight)

I am so pleased and delighted with this collection.  I think it's totally on point for Summer, and the colors are all great.  Not only that but I am absolutely obsessed with the new Gel Lab Pro formula and the brush! The brush! I can't stress enough how pleasurable it is to paint with, perfection! This new formula just paints on so smoothly, easily, and evenly, it's literally fool proof.  It can make anyone a fabulous manicurist.

I was also really impressed with how highly pigmented the colors were, two of which could get away with a single coat.

If I had to pick my favorites to recommend they'd have to go to the one coat wonders- My Boyfriend's Back and Splish Splash

Do make sure to check out the brief video below featuring Deborah herself describing the inspiration behind each shade.

The Summer 2016 Collection will be available May 2016 SRP: $20 each (.50 fl oz 15 mL) on and at Barneys New York, Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Sephora stores nationwide.

Street Beat Summer 2016 Collection Review

Street Beat Summer 2016 Collection Review 0

"Turn up your boom box this summer, it's time to start feelin' the beat on the street! Introducing Gelish and Morgan Taylor's bold and eye-catching array of bright colors for the summer 2016- the Street Beat collection.  The collection includes six new shades: from a striking coral, to a powerful pink pearl, and a fierce teal, to a wild style yellow-orange creme.

"We were inspired by the artistic expression of street art and hip hop for this collection," says CEO and founder of Gelish and Morgan Taylor, Danny Haile. "Each bright shade resonates with inspiration and expressiveness. From energetic, upbeat pinks to a must-have pastel lilac, every shade is trendy from the runway to the streets." according to the official press release.

The Street Beats Summer 2016 collection includes:

B-girl Style: a neon bubble gum pink creme. [neon pink pearl]

Street Cred-ible: a bright nacho cheese orange creme. Took 3 coats for full opacity. [orange/yellow creme]

Cou-tour the Streets: a light pink creme with slight lilac undertones. [lilac creme]

Tag, You're It: a bold neon magenta shimmer. [fuchsia pink pearl]

Give me a Break-dance: a more green leaning teal with slight shimmer running through it. Took 3 coats for full opacity. [teal pearl]

Hip Hot Coral: a bright coral/pink hybrid shimmer. Took 3 coats for full opacity. [hot coral pearl]

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats of the Gelish Minis, unless stated otherwise, cured for 30 seconds each in an LED lamp, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

What I love and enjoyed most about this collection is how fun, bold, and bright the colors all are.  What I didn't love about this collection is the lack of pigmentation.  As gorgeous as the colors are, half of them required 3 coats in order to become fully opaque.  The main downside to three coats is the time required for application.  If your clients aren't in a hurry, or if you don't have clients booked up back-to-back than it shouldn't be an issue.

My personal favorites include: Give me a Breal-dance, Tag, You're it, and Street Cred-ible.

The Street Beat Collection from Gelish MINI and Morgan Taylor will be available for a limited time in May 2016.  Gelish MINI is available at Sally Beauty Supply stores and for $13.99 per bottle and Morgan Taylor is available at for $9 per bottle.

Essie Retro Revival 2016 Collection Review

Essie Retro Revival 2016 Collection Review 0

"For essie's fabulous 35th anniversary, we're celebrating Vegas-style, in honor of the ultimate party town where it all began.  When the brand first debuted, there was no better place to create a splash than in Las Vegas where showgirls and chic card dealers fell instantly in love with the game-changing assortment of shades.  For them, a beautiful manicure was a winning hand.

In celebration of this iconic birthday, the legendary essie color archive has been opened with a thrilling glimpse into the brand's dazzling history.  The result is a limited edition collection of six iconic shades.  With pearl, sheer, frosted and iridescent shades, each promises a sparkling night of thrills.  And, yes... the rumors are true: we're bringing back starry starry night! It wouldn't be a party without this coveted item, until now fetching hundreds of dollars on eBay.

Isn't it fun getting into a retro mood? As a nod to the iconic vintage sign of the Stardust Casino that lit up the Strip, this one-of-a- kind collection features gold starbursts embellished on essie's signature white cap.  It's a time to head to Vegas to party like its 1981!" according to the official press release.

Essie's Retro Revival 2016 Collection includes the following shades:

Life of the Party: a deep cranberry shimmer. Very highly pigmented.  Provided excellent coverage with even one coat.  From 2002. [pinot noir pearl]

Cabana Boy: a pearly very light gray with a faint lavender undertone. From 2005. [ultra-cool pearly white]

Sequin Sash: a semi-sheer shimmering nude with beige/pink undertones. From 2005. [sheer glittery bronze]

Bikini with a Martini: a semi-sheer frosted pink with an iridescence running through it. From 2006. [frosted iridescent pink]

Birthday Suit: a light beige creme. From 1981, part of the original 12 essie colors. [cheeky delicate nude]

Starry Starry Night: a jelly dark navy blue with small silver glitter specks in it. From 1985. The original formula is said to have contained diamond dust.  Unfortunately this newer version doesn't, but it's still gorgeous, and to the untrained eye, you would never in a million years be able to tell.  [twinkling midnight blue]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I don't think I have ever been more obsessed with a polish collection! I absolutely LOVE the idea of bringing back old classic coveted shades.  The notion is absolutely brilliant, and I sure hope this isn't the only time essie does it.  I also love the gold starbursts on the bottle, attention to detail is everything!

As far as the formula is concerned, they all painted on smoothly, evenly, and easily.  I didn't experience any issues like brush strokes, or pooling.

It's so hard for me to pick favorites, but if I absolutely have to, I would say: Starry Starry Night, Sequin Sash, and Cabana Boy are my top 3 must haves.

Keep in mind this collection is limited edition, so make sure to not wait and grab these colors before they're gone for good.

Essie's limited-edition Retro Revival 2016 Collection retails at $8.50 per bottle and will be available in January 2016 at, fine salons, and beauty destinations nationwide.

OPI Starlight Collection Review

OPI Starlight Collection Review 0

"For this holiday season, OPI looked to the stars for guidance and inspiration.  The result: 18 out-of-this-world shades for nails that break the beauty barrier at the speed of starlight! The shades of Starlight- OPI's collection for the holidays and beyond- include rich, jeweled tones, unearthly metals, and spectacular glitters.  OPI reminds you to savor the beauty of life in every precious moment as you watch the stars for a glorious future, and invites you to express your vision in the celestially beautiful colors of Starlight by OPI" according to the press release.

The Starlight Collection by OPI is comprised of the following colors:

Love is in my Cards: a bright candy apple red creme. [this warm, romantic red is destined for me]

Ro-Man-ce on the Moon: a shimmering crimson red. [rendezvous in the glow of this lustrous, rich red]

Guys & Galaxies: a classic oxblood creme. [this maroon beauty makes my world go 'round]

I'm in the Moon for Love: a shimmering medium plum purple. [simply because I'm wearing this plum]

Cosmo with a Twist: a deep purple with shimmering blue particles in it. The color is so gorgeous in the light! [subtle sparkle adds depth to this purple]

Give Me Space: a medium blue with iridescent and holographic fine glitter particles in it. [night-sky blue with room to sparkle]

Center of the You-niverse: a blackened steel with silver and black glitter specks in it. [endless space black shimmer]

Super Star Status: a fine silver glitter with a chunky round gold glitter particles.  A very textured and multi-dimensional shade. [a spotlight- sterling silver and gold glitter]

I Drive a SuperNova: a platinum metallic silver. [hitch a ride on this lustrous sterling silver]

By the Light of the Moon: a platinum silver, similar to I Drive a SuperNova, however it featured various sized silver glitter particles. [silvery and sparkly... prepare to swoon]

Comet Closer: a light shimmering yellow gold that has a slight texture and depth to it. [may I take this warm, textured gold?]

Is this Star Taken?: a light shimmering yellow gold, similar to Comet Closer, however it also features fine holographic bar glitters. [iridescent icicles fly in this smooth gold]

Infrared-y to Glow: light pink v's & small iridescent glitter particles in a clear base. [strike up the glam with red confetti and glitter]

Let Your Love Shine: a shimmering deep cranberry red. [show it off in shimmery, red splendor!]

Ce-less-tial is More: a mix of light pink and light yellow gold glitter particles in a textured finish. [this pink super glitter shines with heavenly light]

Press * for Silver: a mix between a rose gold and a white gold in a metallic finish. [this warm, rosy silver really calls to me]

Two Wrongs Don't Make a Meteorite:  the same as Infrared-y to Glow, but with the addition of gunmetal diamond shaped glitter pieces. [this rosy, golden confetti is so right-on!]

No More Mr. Night Sky: a gorgeous metallic gunmetal. [an assertive, dark, shimmery gray]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

What a fun and rather extensive collection!  What I really like about it is a lot of the shades can be layered a top one another to create really unique and spectacular looks.  I really admire how glitter and metallic focused this collection is.  I feel like OPI usually sticks to shimmers and creams, however, this collection definitely mixes things up, which I love, especially around the holiday times as we celebrate and dress festively.

I didn't experience any issues with any of the metallic chromes in this collection.  They all painted on smoothly and evenly, and didn't show any brush strokes whatsoever.

Also, I found the glitters to be densely packed with glitter.  All of the shades shown here are only two coats.  There was no need for a third coat.

This does happen to be a rather large collection, but here are some of my favorites and recommendations: Cosmo with a Twist, Give Me Space, Super Star Status, and Ce-less-tial is More.

The Starlight Collection from OPI is out and available now.

CND Vinylux Fall 2015 Contradictions Collection Review

CND Vinylux Fall 2015 Contradictions Collection Review 0

"CND’s new Fall 2015 Contradictions collection, featuring CND® SHELLAC® brand 14+ day nail color and VINYLUX® Weekly Polish.

Turn up the contrast with the new Fall 2015 Contradictions collection from CND. Textures and tones collide for an unexpected elegance: leather and lace, street and chic, metal and pearl.

“This season’s trends celebrate an unexpected clash between gritty street elements and elegant details for a dynamic combination of glamour and grunge,” says CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “Nails evoke an edgy narrative with blackened pigments and heraldic ornaments. Enhanced almonds in purple and red are deepened and oxidized with smoked pearl and steel finishes” according to the official Press release.

I've previously reviewed the Contradictions Collection in Shellac, which features the same shades except for 2 which are exclusive to Vinylux.  To see my review and swatches of the other Contradictions Collection hues, check out my previous blog post:

The 2 exclusive Vinylux shades for Fall 2015 from the Contradictions Collection are:

Grommet: a metallic pearly dark gunmetal with blue undertones.  I am obsessed with this shade.  I am wearing it on my toes as we speak.  I have already received countless complements on it.  I wish CND made this shade in Shellac!!  Hopefully in the future they will 😉

Couture Covet: a deep navy blue creme.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and most images are taken outdoors in natural lighting).

I really like these new shades.  I wish CND made them in Shellac as well, particularly Grommet.  Both shades painted on smoothly, evenly, and easily, with zero brush strokes.  I also found them to be heavily pigmented, providing complete coverage in two coats. I highly recommend them.  If you are only going to buy one of them I would recommend Grommet.

FEATURED BENEFITS: VINYLUX® Weekly Polish system includes a self-adhering Color Coat that eliminates the need for Base Coat; Top Coat becomes more durable with exposure to natural light; dries in just 8.5 minutes and provides week-long chip-free wear

PRICE: In-salon VINYLUX® Weekly Polish services range from $20-$35, depending on location; VINYLUX® Weekly Polish and VINYLUX® Weekly Top Coat retail for $10.50 per bottle

CHANEL Nail Colour Fall 2015 Review

CHANEL Nail Colour Fall 2015 Review 0

Hey guys,

I hope your all having a wonderful week thus far  I know I sure am.

I am so beyond excited, thrilled, privileged, honored, and overjoyed to say the least to present to you all the latest collection of nail polish from none other than CHANEL- what in my opinion is literally the "Holy Grail" of nail polishes.

"Discover a rich tapesty of shades inspired by beautiful fall foliage.  Earthy neutrals dress eyes in natural splendor, while copper tones and deep reds blaze on the lips.  An ideal complement to autumnal colour, a new manicure range helps prep and perfect any nail look," according to the official press release.

the CHANEL Fall 2015 Nail Colour collection includes the following three shades:

Chataigne (669): a semi-sweet dark chocolate creme.

Vert Obscur (679): a deep dark forest green jelly with slight teal undertones.  I am obsessed with the jelly formula.  It almost has some translucency to it.  The color builds up beautifully in just two coats too.  Also happens to be my personal favorite of the three!

Ecorce Sanguine (671): a red apple creme with a very faint fine shimmer running through it.  Also has slight blue undertones.

(All swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I am very pleased with this latest collection from CHANEL. I think the colors are all very pretty and highly wearable.  These are shades I know for sure my clients will be asking me for time and time again.

I found the formula to be absolutely divine.  The colors were all incredibly richly pigmented, and painted on smoothly and effortlessly, with absolutely zero brushstrokes. Don't get me started on the jelly formula of Vert Obscur.  I don't have any other polishes in my immense arsenal that even come close.  Not only is the color very unique, but that jelly formula I just absolutely Love and can''t get enough of.

The bottles fit perfectly in the palm of your hand and are so easy to work with.  The paint brush is phenomenal, allowing you to paint perfectly and with tremendous ease.  And the neck of the bottle is relatively thin, and in my opinion, wipes off any and all access paint from the brush, so each and every time you have the perfect amount of product to work with.

I highly recommend all three shades, but if you have to pick just one, my personal favorite would have to be Vert Obscur.

The CHANEL Fall 2015 Nail Colour collection is out and available now for a limited time and retails for $27 per 0.4 fl oz (13 ml) bottle.

Morgan Taylor Chrome Collection Review

Morgan Taylor Chrome Collection Review 0

"Morgan Taylor launches Chrome Collection 2015. Lust- worthy, bold gilded nails are just two steps away.  Bring bright metallic colors to life this summer with Morgan Taylor's Chrome Collection.  Featuring a silver chrome base and six new, eye- catching color washes, nails will be layered with luminous, unmatched style.   Whether you keep it simple yet stunning with one color, or layer and build custom colors, your nails will be the perfect accessory this season.

The Collection includes:

- Chrome Base: base coat

- Sunset Yellow: yellow

- Amber Rush: orange

- Cherry: hot red-pink

- Royal: purple

- UltraMarine: teal

- Ivy: green

The Chrome Collection from Morgan Taylor will be available for a limited time beginning July 2015.  The suggested retail price for the lacquer is $8.50 each and $14.95 for the 4 piece mini pack." according to the press release.

Featured here in this review is the 4 Piece Mini Pack.  What I really enjoy about the mini pack is you don't have to invest in an entire set to try out a popular new trend.

There are so many ways you can use these Chrome polishes, you're only limited by your own imagination and creativity.

For swatch sake, I have painted two coats of each color over the silver base.  The silver base allows the almost translucent sheer pigmented colors to truly pop, and painted on smoothly and evenly, without any streaks.

The formulas on all the pigmented shades are incredibly forgiving and are very easy to work with.  I don't care how advanced your nail art skills might be, even a complete beginner could create amazing works of art!

Also worth mentioning is how fast the colors dry.  I was under the impression I would have to wait a long time in between colors or coats, but you don't.  These babies dry super quick!

If you are looking to try out this new pop metallic trend, and don't want to invest in an entire line, I highly suggest picking up this mini pack!

Nubar Pop! Spring 15 Collection Review

Nubar Pop! Spring 15 Collection Review 0

Hey guys! I hope you have all been having a great week so far.

Today I've got the latest collection from nubar to share with you all- Pop! Spring 2015.  The eight new creamy lacquer shades include:

Fan Club: an aqua marine creme with teal undertones.

Prima Donna: a mint green creme.

Media: a deep dusty royal blue creme.

Choir Girl: an elephant light gray creme.

Spotlight: a lemon yellow creme with subtle green undertones.

Encore: terracotta mocha creme with dusty rose undertones.

V.I.P.: an orange Creamsicle, with pumpkin undertones.  This reads more autumnal to me than it does spring.

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

Overall I enjoyed this collection from nubar.  I found the polishes were very highly pigmented and provided excellent coverage in a single coat.  They painted on smoothly and evenly without giving me any issues whatsoever- no streaking, puddling, or pooling.  Applied like butter!

As a reminder, nubar polishes are 5- free and vegan, not that I am about to start drinking the stuff 😉

My personal favorites include: Prima Donna, Fan Club, & Spotlight.

And FYI, this collection is also available in their Gelicure Soak - Off Gel Polish line, for all those professional nail techs out there.

So, get ready to make your stylish mark and stand out in the crowd with street style-ready, eye catching essie neons.

Essie's six new shades of neon boost your fashion quotient with amped color that hits the perfect note of self- assured chic.  Rave- worthy pink and turned-up electric blue create major impact, while ridiculously haute neon lime and it-girl magenta command attention in the stands.  So, polish up and let the festival season begin" according to the press release.

The Essie Neon 2015 Collection includes the following shades-

Make Some Noise: a deep aqua marine blue creme.  Provided great coverage in even one coat. [raucous electric blue]

Vibrant Vibes: a bright lime green creme.  Also had excellent coverage in a single coat, which is supremely rare for polishes this color.  [vivid neon lime]

Groove is in the Heart: a peony pink creme.  [peachy pink neon]

All Access Pass: a majestic grape purple creme.  [boho violet indigo]

Coacha'bella: a vibrant fuchsia creme.  [it-girl molten magenta]

Melody Maker: a bold green leaning teal creme.  [deep lyrical teal]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light.)

I have noticed some fellow nail bloggers have gotten into a rather tizzy over this collection for they claim its not truly Neon.  Yes, I agree it's not a conventional neon collection, however, I think the term "neon" is simply a matter of semantics.  In my humble opinion, I view this collection as being bold, bright, definitely festival inspired and ready, and perfect for the summer.  Regardless of whether its neon or not doesn't necessarily matter, the colors are still great and had an excellent formula.

Typically with neon colors you need to apply a white base before hand in order to make the colors really pop.  This collection doesn't require that at all, saving you tons of time and product.

I found the formula painted on smoothly and evenly, and that almost all of the shades were very heavily pigmented and saturated with color- which I Love.

My personal favorites include: Vibrant Vibes, Coacha'bella, and Make Some Noise

The Essie Neon 2015 Collection retails for $8.50 per 0.46 fl oz (13.5 ml) bottle, and will be available beginning this month.

Alessandro International Spring 2015 Sunday Rose Collection Review

Alessandro International Spring 2015 Sunday Rose Collection Review 0

"SUNDAY ROSE In Love with Spring... International runways and the fashion universe promise a magical spring awakening for 2015.  The big fashion trend is "intense pastels" and alessandro International brings you highly concentrated yet soft colors, both warm and cool, making every look flatteringly fresh and pretty, like an enchanted spring bouquet.

Who doesn't look forward to the first signs of spring after a long winter? Delicate hues and rosy freshness awaken the desire for everything new.  With its new line of nail colors: Sunday Rose for a spring look, alessandro International turns spring awakening into a dreamlike romantic rendezvous.

The Sunday Rose line is a new interpretation of classic pastel tones in more sophisticated yet, expressive colors.  And these flamboyant heavenly hues with ices pastel notes will take you in the loveliest and most feminine fairytale adventure this season.

As a highlight, our magic top coat "Euphoria" creates a rose- golden glitter effect resembling spring-like dew.  Fine, multi-sparkling sequins encourage you to try out countless variations when applying it.  Apply as a color accent on the nail tip, a complete nail color, or as a final top coat over your favorite hue, and  voila: fairytale euphoria guaranteed!" according to the press release.

The Spring 2015 Sunday Rose Collection includes:

Pastel Mint: a sage mint green creme with a slight shimmer running through it.

Happy Coral: a terracotta coral creme.

Euphoria: various sized coppery glitter particles and fine shimmer in a clear base.  I just used a single coat of this, and yet you can see how densely packed it is with glitters and shimmers.

Tender Rose: a light carnation pink creme.

Sunday Blue: a cornflower blue creme with purple undertones; a blurple shade if you will.  A 1 coat wonder!! Had incredible coverage in a single coat.

Apricot Touch: an apricot peach creme.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

This was my very first experience of ever working with Alessandro Internaitonal, and I must say I am highly impressed.  I found the quality of the polish to be quite excellent, the formula painted on smoothly and evenly, and I found the colors to be highly pigmented.

I really enjoy the simplicity and directness of the polish names.  Some brands get a little too carried away in my opinion in their polish naming process.

Also worth mentioning is the bottle cap's design, I found it be to very unique and also amazing. It sits beautifully in the hand, allowing one to paint with impeccable ease.

The Sunday Rose collection from Alessandro International will be available starting in April 2015.
