Morgan Taylor Cinderella Collection Review

Morgan Taylor Cinderella Collection Review 0

"Find your happily ever after this spring with the Cinderella 2015 collection from Morgan Taylor. In celebration of Walt Disney Pictures’ live-action film Cinderella, this collection features six magical individual colors, duo sets and NEW Morgan Taylor MINI’s, bound to capture any prince.

“We were thrilled to be part of this amazing project,” said namesakes Morgan Haile and Taylor Daniel. “For this collection, we wanted to create an array of colors that highlight iconic moments and characters from this beloved fairy tale story, Cinderella. From the fanciful glitters to striking bright pink, each shade is soaring with personality to fall in line with the movie.”

With the Cinderella 2015 collection from Morgan Taylor, anyone can find a winning, beautiful color to add a magical touch for your spring style," according to the press release.

The Cinderella Collection include:

Watch Your Step, Sister!: a hot pink neon coral creme.

Party at the Palace: a turquoise blue with gold shimmer.

Ella of a Girl: a bubblegum pink creme.

Best Ball Gown Ever: a magical shimmering cornflower blue.  I am obsessed with this shade.  I find it to be super unique to what's out on the market, and it's absolutely beautiful! I highly recommend it.

My Carriage Awaits: a peachy coral creme.

If the Slipper Fits: an icy blue iridescent glitter.  Was nicely pigmented and didn't require 3 coats; it covered fully and well in only 2.

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats).

Overall I think Morgan Taylor did an excellent job of curating a collection that embodies the classic fairy tale.  There is honestly something in this collection for everyone.  Some of the colors are highly unique, like Best Ball Gown Ever & If the Slipper Fits, but some are also just okay, like Ella of a Girl.

My personal favorites include: If the Slipper Fits, Party at the Palace, & Best Ball Gown Ever.

Disney’s live-action movie, Cinderella, will be opening in theaters on March 13, 2015. The Cinderella 2015 collection from  Morgan Taylor is available for a limited time at select salons nationwide and at  www.morgantaylorlacquer.com. The suggested retail price for the lacquer is $8.50 each. The duo packs and 4piece mini  pack $14.95 each.

Merricures visits ISSE- 2015

Merricures visits ISSE- 2015 0

Hey guys.  I hope you all had a great weekend, I know I sure did.

This past weekend was ISSE, the International Salon and Spa Expo in Long Beach California, held at the Long Beach Convention Center.

I started the first of 3 days off with a bang, having a VIP Media meeting with Jan Arnold, co-founder and style director for CND.  I was so honored to find out I was her first appointment of the day!! Go Team Merricures!! I absolutely adore Jan, her passion, knowledge, and charisma I find to be both infectious and inspiring.  She walked me through a wonderful presentation of both Spring and Summer 2015 Shellac and Vinylux collections.   She also told me about a brand new revolutionary product launching next month, that I can’t wait to share with you all (trust me, I wasn’t leaving that meeting without a bottle of it).  Jan was also very eager and proud to mention CND U, an online forum for nail education, had proudly launched.

We gabbed about New York Fashion Week and all of the amazing collaborations CND does with various designers, including: Libertine, Opening Ceremony, The Blonds, etc.  Because we are both so passionate about fashion I had to take a break from nails and quiz Jan on her amazing fashion sense.  I had to know who are her favorite designers.  I was very surprised at how quickly and proudly she responded: 1. Comme Des Garcons (because they are never trendy). 2. Libertine (because of their unique perspective). and 3. Simone Rocha: (her latest obsession from London).

Then it was off to the show.  The show didn’t begin on Saturday until 1 pm, and I unfortunately had to work an event on the other side of town in the early evening, so I was only able to stick around for 2 hours that day.  Needless to say, the adrenalin rush of frantically running around trying to have catch up conversations with friends and colleges was a bit of a challenge.  I did manage however to have a couple demos done at Young Nails and Akzentz.

DSCN5393 DSCN5395

While getting a demo, I spotted 3 of the lovely contestants from the hit nail reality show “Nail’d It”, including Ashley Craig, the 1st place winner, who received $100,000!  They are all so great and sweet.

The next day, Sunday, was much better and more relaxed.  I had a full day to properly catch up with a majority of my friends, and get some really cool demos done, including from Britney Tokyo and Natalie Minerva (of Nail Swag) at the Nail Labo booth.

DSCN5452 4

I must admit I’m not the only one who was excited to get a demo done by these ladies.  People were aggressively lining up and causing a stir at the Nail Labo booth because everyone was so excited and needed to purchase the exact products the girls were using to create their remarkable designs.

DSC_0120DSC_0117DSC_0112

But when you see the kind of art these incredibly talented ladies do you understand why there was such a commotion/line.  In addition to promoting Nail Labo products, which are of the highest quality, all made and imported from Japan, the girls were promoting their latest endeavor, a 6 piece line of highly pigmented gels specifically made for doing nail art, called Tokyo Swag.  I’ve got some to review for you all, but more on that a little later.

I also had the honor of meeting the top 3 finalists of NAILS Magazine’s Next Top Nail Artist Contest Lexi Martone, Lavette Cephus, and Danielle Costantino.  The girls were all so lovely and humble despite their immense creative talent.  I was lucky enough to have a demo performed by Lavette Cephus (who was later announced that evening as the winner).

I couldn’t get over how cool Lexi Martone’s Nails were.

This is Lavette working her magic on me-

Nonetheless, the girls are each so remarkably talented.

Sunday I also died when I met one of my idols, celebrity nail tech Kimmie Kyees.  She was such a delight and a wonderful person, more so than I ever could have imagined.  She even gave me a few pieces of advice on tips she has learned over the years.

I also got to spend some quality time with my favorite buddies over at INM.  They filled me in on all the new awesome products they have added to their line, including 4 new multi-use pens, quick dry spray, and an expanded lacquer line.

Sunday evening, after the show ended,  NAILS Magazine and CND hosted a wonderful cocktail party/awards ceremony at nearby Cafe Sevilla where the winner of the Next Top Nail Artist competition was announced.  There were tons of nail industry guests in attendance, including Sam Biddle, Katie Cazorla,  and Doug Schoon to name a few.  The awards themselves were MC’d by Hannah Lee and Jan Arnold.

As you probably know by now, my girl Lavette Cephus won! She cried and was physically shaking.  Once she calmed herself down she delivered a beautiful acceptance speech.

Monday was the last day of the show.  A lot of people in the industry call this “Students Day;” lots of individuals training in beauty school, hair, or nails come.  By this day, Akzentz was highly picked over, virtually sold out of most products; having to take down many orders to be filled later on.  I honestly think they did the best out of all the nail companies exhibiting at the show as far as selling product is concerned.

New to the convention this year was an awesome multi-competition winning line from Hungary, Crystal Nails.  They have been highly successful throughout Europe for the last ten years, and are making a splash Stateside, offering an incredible insane amount of colors.  They make over 500 shades of each hard gel, gel polish, and acrylic.  Some of the colors I saw were incredibly unique and oh so beautiful, and glitters for days in every shade of the rainbow and beyond.

All sorts of technological innovation including: color changing, chrome finish, magnets, and light refraction were being demonstrated by award winning and famous nail techs, including Classic Mully, who also appeared on Oxygen’s hit show Nail’d It.  I was fortunate enough to have a demo with her, which she shared her incredible art technique with me using their ChroMe & Tiger Eye Crystalac gel polishes, painting the underside of my nail primarily.

DSCN5542 DSCN5546 DSCN5529 DSCN5527

Also new this year to the convention was The Nail Spot, a designated area for all things specifically nails related: hands-on and complimentary nail classes, creative nail demonstrations, and competitions.

DSCN5564 DSCN5563 DSCN5561 DSCN5560

Absent this year from the show were a few major brands, including Essie, Cuccio, and hair care giant Moroccanoil.  I also noticed some companies downsized their booth, and in some cases significantly,  as much as half.  I do not know why, but I am sure they all have their reasons.

Overall the show was great.  I had an incredible time, and highly recommend everyone experience the ISSE show at some point. It’s an experience not to be forgotten.

Morgan Taylor Midnight Masquerade Winter 2014 Collection Swatches

Morgan Taylor Midnight Masquerade Winter 2014 Collection Swatches 0

"This winter, dress your nails with an alluring personality by donning Morgan Taylor's Midnight Masquerade Winter 2014 color collection, which features six all-new shades inspired by the mystique of an after- hours affair" according to the press release.

Typically Winter collections tend to be very gold, silver, and glitter heavy.  But the girls behind their namesake line of polishes chose to not follow the typical color conventions, which I have huge respect for.  According to the girls, Taylor Daniel and Morgan Haile, "The color palette of winter is typically muted, dark shades, so we wanted to create something a little different this year."

The Midnight Masquerade Winter 2014 Collection includes:

My Kind Of Ball Gown: a deep rose pink creme.  Incredibly pigmented; provided solid coverage in 1 coat.

Flirting With The Phantom: a dusty mauve creme.  Also highly pigmented, covered completely in a single coat.

Vixen in a Mask: a shimmering blackened berry.

Don't Rain on My Masquerade: a brown/pink copper glitter.  It is Not rose gold, if that's what your thinking.  I found it to be densely packed with glitter.  I had complete coverage in two coats.  Removed easily, which is always a huge + for me when it comes to stubborn glitter removal.

Jest-er Kidding: ultra fine silver glitter with larger multi-color glitter pieces.  It is very fun and festive, while staying sophisticated and office appropriate.  I didn't think I would like this color initially, but it really grew on me.

The Big Reveal: a dark mysterious teal shimmer.  My personal favorite in this collection.  It is stunning in person.  It also didn't stain the nail plate upon removal, which is fantastic.

(all swatches shown here are two coats.)

I really enjoyed this collection.  I found it to be very refreshing and a nice departure from the typical winter collections I review.  I think there is nice breath and variety, literally offering something for everyone at any age.

I found the quality of the polishes to be excellent.  They all applied very smoothly and evenly, giving me zero brush strokes or problems.  I also found the polishes to be highly pigmented, which I love.  I highly suggest you pick up some Morgan Taylor Lacquers if you haven't tried them yet! Their colors are usually always on point, stylish, and on trend;  customers will be requesting them in no time.

Morgan Taylor Lacquers are 5 free.  The suggested retail price is $8.50 per .5 fl oz (15 mL) bottle.

Morgan Taylor Holiday: Home for the Holidays Swatches + Review

Morgan Taylor Holiday: Home for the Holidays Swatches + Review 0

Now that summer is slowly coming to an end, kids are going back to school, vacations are finishing up, and warm weather is beginning to cool down.  Before you know it the Holidays will be here, and to celebrate Morgan Taylor is launching their latest collection: "Home for the Holidays"! Six new fun and festive shades to really get one in the mood and to celebrate this wonderful time of year.

According to Morgan Taylor, "Celebrate what matters most with Morgan Taylor's Home for the Holidays collection.  Inspired by the memories made during the holidays, these six luxurious shades will have you catching the festive spirit in no time.  You may not get everything you want under the tree, but with its cremes, glitters, and shimmers this collection ensures you'll have the perfect manicure to help you look your best through the Holiday season."

The Home for the Holidays collection includes:

New Year, New Blue: a midnight shiny navy blue. Provided virtually full coverage in a single coat.

Snuggle by the Fire: a rich ruby red creme. Covered completely in a single coat.

Just for the Occasion: a plum purple with fine magenta pink shimmer.

Deck the Halls: a glittery raspberry red/pink featuring larger pink hexagonal glitter pieces.

Midnight Rendezvous: a blackened base with fine blue and copper glitter flakes.

Snow place like Home: an iridescent glitter in a semi sheer white shimmer base.

(all swatches shown here are two coats with a top coat.)

I really enjoy the colors offered in this latest collection from Morgan Taylor, they definitely capture and embody the true essence of the holidays.  With this being said, some shades I prefer more than others, but that's just a matter of personal preference.

Each shade polished very smoothly and easily, with zero fuss or streaking.  Some of the shades surprised me with how highly pigmented they were; both New Year, New Blue and Snuggle by the Fire provided full coverage in essentially a single coat.

Much like the holidays, this collection won't be around for long, so go out and pick it up fast.

Morgan Taylor The Enchantment Collection- Swatches + Review

Morgan Taylor The Enchantment Collection- Swatches + Review 0

I am very excited to introduce to my readers the latest from Morgan Taylor- The Enchantment Collection.

According to the press release, "this season prepare to be mesmerized by Morgan Taylor's The Enchantment Collection.  These six whimsical shades were inspired by all things magical and magnificent.... so dazzling you won't be able to resist their allure."

The Enchantment Collection includes:

Simply Spellbound: a creamy nude beige. a one coat wonder; you get almost complete coverage with just a single coat, which is very rare for nude shades.

Magician's Assistant: a dusty lavender rose.

Now You See Me: a plumed out mocha speckled with bronze/copper shimmer. Very highly pigmented.  Get almost complete coverage with a single coat.

Hocus Pocus: a grayed out dusty mint green.

Who- Dini?: a dusty blue/grey creme.

I'm the Good Witch: a mix of pink and copper fine glitters.

(all swatches shown here are two coats).

Overall I must say this is probably my Favorite complete collection from Morgan Taylor.  The colors offered in this collection are truly magical.  I feel they will complement almost all skin tones, and can honestly be worn year round, without ever looking out of style or trying too hard.

The formula on all of the shades was excellent.  The polish painted on very smoothly, and didn't show any brushstrokes.  The two glitter/shimmer shades were saturated in pigment, and covered virtually completely in a single coat; which never typically happens with those types of shades.

All in all I highly recommend my readers pic up this collection.  There is something in it for everyone, and would serve as a staple year round in any salon or home.

Morgan Taylor “Island Treasures” Collection- Summer 2014

Morgan Taylor “Island Treasures” Collection- Summer 2014 0

"Island Treasures" is the latest collection of nail lacquers from Morgan Taylor for Summer 2014.  According to the folks at Morgan Taylor, "island inspired shades that will transport you to paradise," and I pretty much agree with their campaign's description.

The six piece collection includes:

Beach Babe: an opaque creamy peach.

Making Waves: a rich royal blue.

Tame me to your Tribe: a periwinkle blue.

Sarong but so Right: a shimmering deep magenta.

Going Native: a dark turquoise.

Tropical Punch: almost a neon fuchsia.

(each swatch shown here was 2 coats for full opacity, with a top coat.)

I found the formula to be quite excellent on the polishes, without having any brush strokes or any issues.  The lacquers are also highly pigmented, which is always a major plus in my book.

INM Says “Cheese” @ NailPro Pasadena 2014 !!

INM Says “Cheese” @ NailPro Pasadena 2014 !! 0

I would have to say the biggest draw and commotion at this years NailPro “nails only” show in Pasadena was not the presence of multi talented singer/actress Anna Kendrick, but INM’s introduction of their Photobooth! Everyone from show regulars, top personalities- Katie Cazorla (the Painted Nail), to top competitors- Lorena Marquez & Chris Mans, to brand reps- Mami Griffin (Sha-Nail) & Morgan Haile (Morgan Taylor Lacquer) all stopped by INM‘s newest addition to their booth to flash their pearly whites along with some fun goofy props.

Not only was INM’s photobooth a huge draw, but so were the amazing nail demos they performed by top industry leader Lorena Marquez, and new competing protegee Chris Mans.

Also at NailPro Pasadena, was a challenge for the Guinness Book of World Records for fastest pink & white nails ever in history, to perform a full set in under 10 minutes- a truly remarkable feat!

In case you missed out on all the great deals on INM’s wonderful products, you can still check them out on their website: http://inmnails.com/
