Tammy Taylor Gelegance Gel Polish Review

Tammy Taylor Gelegance Gel Polish Review 0

I am so beyond excited to share with you all the awesome gel polish line, Gelegance, from Tammy Taylor.  I’ve been dying to get my hands on some, to experiment, test out the quality, and report back to you all.  I’ve got a few collections to share with you.

SPOOKY CHIC (a limited edition Halloween themed collection)

Black Widow: a deep dark burgundy cream. [dark burgundy]

Squad Ghouls: a deep dark burgundy, similar in vein to Black Widow, but with fine shimmer. [mahogany with rust shimmer]

Creep it Real: a super dark blackened green with a fine shimmer. [Halloween green with shimmer]

Trick or Treat: a dark blackened purple cream. [black plum]

MERRY & BRIGHT (a limited edition Christmas themed collection)

Shimmering Reindeer: a bronze frosted shimmer. [light golden bronze metallic frost]

Christmas Wish: a yellow gold frosted shimmer. [light gold metallic frost]

Gingerbread Girl: a rose gold frosted shimmer. [rose gold metallic frost]

Snow Queen: a silver frosted shimmer. [silver metallic frost]

[my only gripe about this line is each color required 3 coats for full opacity.  I personally wish they were more pigmented and got full coverage in only 2 coats.]

BARELY BEIGE (a collection of nude creams)

XO Beige: a creamy nude with brown and mocha undertones. [peach beige]

Cashmere Beige: a creamy nude with a mauve undertone. [mauve beige]

Luxe Beige: a creamy skintone nude. [soft beige]

Fawn Beige: a creamy nude with brown undertones. [taupe beige]

Seychelles Beige: a creamy nude with light pink undertones. [pink beige]

URBAN GLAM (a sultry dark night’s sky collection)

Velveteen: an oxblood cream. [deep brick red]

Lavish: a deep dark blood red cream. [Bordeaux]

Vampy Violet: a dark purple eggplant cream. [deep plum]

Haute Couture: a dark graphite grey cream. [gun metal gray]

Ferosh Black: a jet black cream.  I am obsessed with this black.  This is honestly my new go to for black! It is so richly pigmented! [true intense black]

Overall I have had a FANTASTIC experience with the Tammy Taylor Gelegance line.  This is honestly my new favorite line of gel polish on the market.  The colors are highly pigmented, and I get complete coverage in two coats (except with the metallic frosts).  The colors do not pull, spread, move, or wrinkle.  They paint on smoothly, easily, and evenly.  Other brands of gel polish can pull either away from the cuticle or from the free edge, but not Gelegance.  Another major issue with gel polishes can be wrinkling, caused by either poor formulations or applying the gel polish way too heavy handed.  I didn’t experience Any wrinkling what so ever with Tammy Taylor.

I honestly can’t stress enough how truly impressed I am with this brand.  If you haven’t given them a try yet, I highly recommend you do.  You and your clients will thank me.

LeChat Retro Remix Summer 2017 Collection Review

LeChat Retro Remix Summer 2017 Collection Review 0

I am excited to present to you all the Perfect Match Retro Remix Collection for Summer 2017 from LeChat Nails.  These 6 gorgeous bright and bold cream shades that come in both gel polish and regular nail lacquer.

The colors comprising the Retro Remix Collection include-

Peach Blast: a bright peach cream.

High-Voltage: a shocking purple cream.

Flashback: a bold grass green cream. Almost a one coat wonder.

Heartthrob: a deep rich magenta cream.

Blazin' Sun: it's like a yellow nacho-cheese cream.  I know that sounds bizarre, but it's really cool.

Dive In: a rich aqua blue cream. Almost a one coat wonder.

(all photos shown here are 2 coats and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

I really like this collection.  I think the colors are fun, bright and bold, yet remain very tasteful and wearable.  I was pleasantly surprised to discover you don't need a white base coat in order to make these colors pop; they are beautiful all on their own!  This is a major plus and huge time saver for the tech and the client.

Previously I have never worked with LeChat's polishes or gels, I mainly have experience with their powders and chrome pigments.  I must admit I was very impressed, the quality was fantastic.  The colors were very richly saturated and highly pigmented.  Smooth ez painting, and the gel polish self- leveled nicely.  What I like about the Dare to Wear lacquers is the squared off bristles on the application brush, and the bottle's lid- the grooves added both comfort and good grip.

I also greatly appreciate that both the Dare to Ware Lacquer and Perfect Match Gel Polish are bundled together.  Some client don't necessarily want to commit to gel, and to have options on hand is always a great thing. No muss no fuss. And some brands make these even more difficult and confusing by naming the gel polishes differently from the nail lacquers.  Here there is no guessing to do.

I highly recommend you give some of these Perfect Match sets a try.

Introducing Aora GEP Gel!

Introducing Aora GEP Gel! 0

Hi guys. I hope everyone has had a very Happy Holidays.

I am so excited to share this latest innovation with you all from the folks over at Aora.

It takes a lot to get me exited about something new in the nail industry, but I have found it. Introducing GEP gel from Aora! Forget the conventional and generic cat-eye magnetic nails people are doing, GEP gel color is said to look like “Northern Lights in Alaska, some say space nebulas and starbursts.”

Aora GEP is incredible, so cool and unique, and super easy to use.

Everything you need to get started comes in the kit. Begin with the Grip Base.  Two coats of Black gel, which is incredibly well pigmented, and from what I believe is pure gel in a bottle, not a gel polish.  I would use this gel on its own, its an excellent black gel. Then comes the magic- paint on a thin layer of the numbered color gel, shown here I have GEP #’s 5 and 6, do not cure, hold the magnet over the uncured gel for a few seconds, once the desired design is achieved cure.  Finish it all off with Titanium Top Coat, an excellent non-wipe super shiny top coat.

Pictures and videos do not do this product justice.  If I had a dollar for every complement I’ve gotten on my nails I would be Rich $$$!

I highly recommend you pick up a GEP kit for yourselves or your salon.  Your clients are going to absolutely fall in love.

The GEP Kit, retails for $59.95, and then each color of GEP can be purchased individually for $29.95.

CND Holiday 2016 Starstruck Collection Review

CND Holiday 2016 Starstruck Collection Review 0

"Celebrate the elegance of Hollywood with the new Holiday 2016 Starstruck collection from CND. Comprised of dazzling jewel tones that embody the glamour of the red carpet, the palette is precious and faceted.

“There was an element of danger in the Old Hollywood equation,” says CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold.  “This tension of grace, power and risk inspires the jeweled, short nail of the season, which pairs best with a little black dress or pristine winter-white cashmere. An ensemble this mesmerizing is sure to leave all of your fans starstruck.” according to the official press release.

The CND Starstruck Holiday 2016 Collection consists of the following glitter shades-

Blushing Topaz: a light pink glitter.

Garnet Glamour: a deep crimson red glitter.

Dark Diamonds: a black infused with silver glitter.

Emerald Lights: an emerald green glitter.

Alluring Amethyst: a lilac glitter.

Starry Sapphire: a mix of indigo blue and purple glitters.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, taken in outdoor natural sunlight).

I absolutely Love this collection.  CND does not make a lot of glitter shades in general, and around this time of year, with all of the holiday festivities, glitter is always a good thing to offer clients.  The colors are all totally wearable and gorgeous.

I didn't experience any issues with the application or the formulas.  I felt each shade was densely packed with glitter and provided a very even coverage.

My personal favorites are: Starry Sapphire, Blushing Topaz, and Dark Diamonds

Suggested salon price is $15.95 per .25 fl oz (7.3 mL) bottle

UNO by Gelish MINI Review

UNO by Gelish MINI Review 0

"Long lasting manicures just got a whole lot easier, especially for those who are challenged in the art of a DIY gel manicure. The makers of popular professional soak-off gel polish line, Gelish, introduce UNO by Gelish MINI, a new nail technology.  UNO by Gelish MINI is a single-step process that applies long-lasting nail color in under 5 minutes, making at-home gel manicures as easy as polish.

"Today, we're living as a faster-than-ever pace and have little time to spare on nail maintenance," says Danny Haile, CEO and Founder of Gelish Soak-Off Gel Polish. "Maintaining vivid color and durability in one easy step was a challenge we gladly seized."

The name says it all- no basecoat, no topcoat and no cleansing needed.  UNO by Gelish MINI only requires a one-step gel polish and an LED light to achieve durable, high-shine, and superb looking manicures that will last up to 7- 10 days.  Removal takes less than 15 minutes to soak-off.  Choose from 20 colors, ranging from neutral cremes to metallic glitters, for customizable looks." according to the official press release.

The UNO by Gelish MINI line consists of the following shades-

1.Honey Bare: a creamy camel.

2. Magic Mauve: a dusted rose shimmer.

3. Sprinkles on Top: a bold bright pink cream.

4. Selfie Centered: a deep magenta cream.

5. Always a Bridesmaid: a bright bubble gum pink cream.

6. You're such a Girl: a bold peony pink cream.

7. Unimpeachable: an orangey peach cream.

8. Traffic Stopped: a deep cherry red cream.

9. Ruby Lips: a crimson red shimmer.

10. Corner Office: an oxblood red cream.

11. Teal Then: an aqua blue cream.

12. Mermaid of Honor: a mix of fine blue, green, and teal glitters.

13. Very Blueberry: a cobalt blue cream.

14. Dragonfly: a lilac cream.

15. Electric Kiss: an electric fuchsia cream.

16. Violets are Blue: a medium purple cream.

17. Spiced Plum: a dark purple grape cream.

18. Charm Bracelet: a sterling silver frost.

19. Gold Rush: a yellow gold frost.

20. Classic Vinyl: a black licorice cream.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, cured each for 30 seconds in an LED lamp, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

I absolutely LOVE this revolutionary product! At long last there's actually an awesome DIY gel for the at-home consumer.  In the past two years virtually every brand has been coming out with a hybrid gel-like system, that's essentially just polish with some marketing jargon mumbo-jumbo thrown around. UNO, however, is totally different. It's an actual gel polish, meaning it has to be soaked off with acetone to remove, and it requires an LED lamp to cure it.

The fact that there's no primer, base coat, or top coat are major time savers!

I found it incredibly easy to use and all of the shades painted on smoothly, easily, and evenly.

I did apply two coats of each shade to achieve complete coverage.

My personal favorite colors are: Honey Bare, You're such a girl, Very Blueberry, and Electric Kiss.

The bottles are 5 mL (0.17 fl oz).

"Available beginning May 2016 at Sally Beauty Supply Stores and at for $11.49 per bottle."

Street Beat Summer 2016 Collection Review

Street Beat Summer 2016 Collection Review 0

"Turn up your boom box this summer, it's time to start feelin' the beat on the street! Introducing Gelish and Morgan Taylor's bold and eye-catching array of bright colors for the summer 2016- the Street Beat collection.  The collection includes six new shades: from a striking coral, to a powerful pink pearl, and a fierce teal, to a wild style yellow-orange creme.

"We were inspired by the artistic expression of street art and hip hop for this collection," says CEO and founder of Gelish and Morgan Taylor, Danny Haile. "Each bright shade resonates with inspiration and expressiveness. From energetic, upbeat pinks to a must-have pastel lilac, every shade is trendy from the runway to the streets." according to the official press release.

The Street Beats Summer 2016 collection includes:

B-girl Style: a neon bubble gum pink creme. [neon pink pearl]

Street Cred-ible: a bright nacho cheese orange creme. Took 3 coats for full opacity. [orange/yellow creme]

Cou-tour the Streets: a light pink creme with slight lilac undertones. [lilac creme]

Tag, You're It: a bold neon magenta shimmer. [fuchsia pink pearl]

Give me a Break-dance: a more green leaning teal with slight shimmer running through it. Took 3 coats for full opacity. [teal pearl]

Hip Hot Coral: a bright coral/pink hybrid shimmer. Took 3 coats for full opacity. [hot coral pearl]

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats of the Gelish Minis, unless stated otherwise, cured for 30 seconds each in an LED lamp, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

What I love and enjoyed most about this collection is how fun, bold, and bright the colors all are.  What I didn't love about this collection is the lack of pigmentation.  As gorgeous as the colors are, half of them required 3 coats in order to become fully opaque.  The main downside to three coats is the time required for application.  If your clients aren't in a hurry, or if you don't have clients booked up back-to-back than it shouldn't be an issue.

My personal favorites include: Give me a Breal-dance, Tag, You're it, and Street Cred-ible.

The Street Beat Collection from Gelish MINI and Morgan Taylor will be available for a limited time in May 2016.  Gelish MINI is available at Sally Beauty Supply stores and for $13.99 per bottle and Morgan Taylor is available at for $9 per bottle.

Introducing Holographic gel from Color Club

Introducing Holographic gel from Color Club 0

I hope everyone has had a great week so far.

I am so beyond excited to introduce a revolutionary product from Color Club- Holographic Gel Polish.  No other brands in the US market have made a holographic gel polish, and I am so grateful Color Club has done so, and man is it perfection.

The Color Club Holographic's I have to share with you here include-

Harp On It: a holographic silver.

Eternal Beauty: a holographic purple.

Blue Heaven: a holographic icy blue.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, cured each for 30 seconds in an LED light, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

With the introduction of their gel polish line, Color Club has done a few things differently.  All of their gel polishes are packaged in a duo pack, meaning you get both the gel polish color and its comparable nail lacquer, so for customers who want matching toes this is perfect! Also, Color Club paints the cap on the gel polish bottles, so not only do you know exactly what color is inside the bottle, but you can locate the color very easily, especially if you store it in a drawer.

I am absolutely OBSESSED with these.  They are so beyond cool and very easy to use.  I was under the impression I would have to wait a little bit to let the gel polish settle before curing it in order to achieve a strong holographic effect, but that was not the case.  After painting it on, I was able to cure it essentially right away and still had an amazing holographic effect.

I was very impressed with the quality.  The gel polish applied very smoothly and evenly, without any brush strokes, or any problems.

The Color Club Holographic duo packs retail for $29.95 each, and contain 15 mL (0.5 fl oz) bottles of both the gel polish and nail lacquer.

I highly recommend you give these a try! Your customers will go bananas for them! I promise 🙂

Cuccio: Nudetrals Winter 2015 collection

Cuccio: Nudetrals Winter 2015 collection 0

"Slip into something more natural looking with the new Nudetrals Colour Collection- a sensual array of nude shades to compliment all skin types.  Expose your inner fashionista while adding sparkle to your natural beauty with fine mica elements that will amplify the bare essentials of the holiday season.  Revealing, soft and subtly erotic this collection is the perfect way to undress from the dark shades of the Fall season and help you uncover your passion and love of colour" according to the press release.

The Winter 2015 Nudetrals collection from Cuccio includes the following shades:

Nude-a-Tude: a creamy mauve. [medium tan with nude shimmer and pink base]

Skin to Skin: a light pink nude cream. [light tan with nude shimmer]

Fair Game: a solid white with a pink iridescent pearly shimmer running through it. [opal white]

Olive You: a light greenish gold with tiny iridescent flecks in it. [gray with gold shimmer and green tone]

Sun Kissed: a super fine glittery copper. [medium tan with gold shimmer]

Blush Hour: a super fine glittery rose. [salmon pink with gold shimmer]

Oh Naturale: a light beige cream. [taupe with silver shimmer]

Grey's Anatomy: a super fine glittery gray. [gray with gold shimmer and blue tone]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, cured each for 30 seconds in an LED lamp).

I really love this entire collection. You really can't go wrong with various shades that compliment skin tones.  Cuccio went above and beyond doing simple creamy nudes, and included many super fine glittery shades in the collection I also adore. I believe it's fine mica that gives off their glowing allure, so its a bit different from your conventional glitters.  Even the creamy flesh tones in this collection feature a microscopic shimmer in them, that you can really only notice if you look super closely.  Nonetheless, it adds a brilliant shine to the shades.

As far as the formula is concerned, I didn't have any issues with any of the colors, and I also didn't experience any difficulties such as unevenness or brushstrokes.

My personal favorites from the collection include: Fair Game, Sun Kissed, and Olive You

Akzentz Fall Winter 2015

Akzentz Fall Winter 2015 0

"Canadian based Akzentz Professional Nail Products releases New & Fall Winter 2015 shades of Gel Play available through Authorized Distributors October 2015.

Gel Play changed the nail art industry when it first debuted summer 2014 and continues to lead with innovative nail art technology in the marketplace. These highly pigmented LED and UV curable gels have a thick consistency that mimic artistic paints making them perfect for detailed hand painted artwork.

The Fall & Winter 2015 release includes four new Glitters: Cherry Red, Golden Nugget, Green Glitz and Platinum Quartz as well as two new Paints: Hot Pink and Raw Sienna.

“The product follows our history of 100% gel, solvent-free products,” affirms Akzentz President Sandra Haigh, “It continues our legacy of being made in Canada with only North American and European ingredients.”

The Gel Play line now boasts 14 paints with heavily pigmented solid colours, 14 vibrant Glitters, six sparkling Glitter Shifters that shift their tone depending on the base colour, wildly popular Bling-On an extra strong bonding gel that stays put for attaching embellishments and Glitter-Me, a clear and light consistency gel base perfect for adding glitter powders already owned" according to the official press release.

Now I don't have the entire Fall Winter 2015 line to share with you.  I do however have some shades from each of the lines.

OPTIONS (soak off gel polish in a pot) [4 g / 0.14 oz]

Ocean Peal (Chameleon): blue/purple duo chrome.  The shade shifts depending on the angle, or light refraction. I am beyond obsessed with this color! My personal favorite.  An absolute must! Very unique as well.

Moody Sunset (Chameleon): silver/purple duo chrome.  The shade also shifts depending on the angle, or light refraction.

French Blue: a deep royal peacock blue creme.

(all swatches are 2 coats, cured each for 30 seconds in an LED lamp).

GEL PLAY PAINT (hyper pigmented potted gels for art work) [4 g / 0.14 oz]

Hot Pink: a hot vibrant neon Barbie pink creme.

Glitter Cherry Red: a fine glitter crimson red.

Glitter Platinum Quartz: a shiny silver chrome.

(because it's Halloween time, my most favorite holiday, I swatched these gel paint shades by creating spider webs.  These are very easy to do using Gel Paints, and I don't even need to flash cure between painting all the lines.  I just cure it all at once after the painting is completed, which ultimately saves you lots of time.)

LUXIO (gel polish in a bottle) [15 mL / 0.5 oz]

Mirage: a micro fine silver glitter with flecks of purple and red.  I used three coats to make this fully opaque, primarily because the glitter is super micro fine.

Celebrate: a beautiful bold lavender creme.

Rebel: a burnt cranberry red creme.

(unless stated otherwise, all swatches shown here are two coats, cured each for 30 seconds in an LED lamp).

I must honestly say I am truly impressed with Akzentz continual innovation.  I feel that every season they out do themselves and come out with something so amazing.  In this case, my personal obsession is with the new chameleon Options color shifting gels in Moody Sunset & Ocean Pearl.  I hope that Akzentz continues forward and introduces many more shades in the future featuring this awesome technology.

I think as all whole the colors are all wonderful.  I didn't experience any issues whatsoever with the formulas.

As always, the smell is incredibly minimal with Akzentz products, which  both me and my clients Love and appreciate.  The less harmful smells in my book the better.

OPI GelColor Venice Collection Fall Winter 2015 Review

OPI GelColor Venice Collection Fall Winter 2015 Review 0

"People watching in the piazza.  Sipping champagne in a gondola.  Enjoying gelato in an outdoor cafe.  These images and more can only be inspired by one of the most romantic cities in the world- Venice, Italy.  Not only celebrated for its over-the-top romance, Venice is also the mecca for pleasure-seekers looking to immerse themselves in the opulent splendor of the Baroque period architecture and lavish artwork that surrounds them.

Inspired by this extraordinary city, OPI presents a modern interpretation of Baroque style in the 15 new shades o the Venice Collection.  Romantic reds, decadent blues, striking corals, dreamy pastels, elegant nudes, dramatic darks, and luxurious metallics proclaim that "less is more" is out and sumptuous indulgence is in.

OPI invited you to renew your passion with color and bring the romance and opulence of Venice into your heart and onto your fingertips with the Venice Collection by OPI," from the official press release.

The Fall Winter 2015 Venice Collection from OPI consists of the following shades:

Be There in a Prosecco: a creamy white beige. [I'm living in the moment, and in this opaque creme.]

Tiramisu for Two: a creamy dusty rose pink. [I totally "dessert" this sweet coffee cream.]

A Great Opera-tunity: a creamy salmon shade.  It is significantly darker than Tiramisu for Two. ["Aria" ready to wear this gorgeous melon?]

Gimme a Lido Kiss: a micro fine shimmering bright bold red. [Pucker up for this saucy, red shimmer.]

Amore at the Grand Canal: a luscious deep dark red rose creme. [Let the romance flow in this ravishing red.]

It's a Piazza Cake: a pumpkin spiced orange creme. [Choosing this persimmon creme is as easy as pie.]

Gelato on my Mind: a bright pastel sky blue creme. [Deliciously sweet and icy-cool, pastel blue.]

Purple Palazzo Pants: a lavender creme. [I've searched far and wide for this lovely lilac.]

O Suzi Mio: a deep eggplant purple creme. [This delicious shade of eggplant is all mine!]

Worth a Pretty Penne: a shimmering light copper tone.  Could almost pass for rose gold.  Wasn't streaky in the slightest, as most shades similar can be.  I was very pleased with this one. 🙂  [Flaunt your fashion "cents" in this shimmery copper.]

My Gondola or Yours?: a jet black creme. [Let's cruise the canals in this luscious black.]

I Cannoli Wear OPI: an off white creme, but really its a super pale dove gray. [My heart belongs to this pale, creamy gray.]

And then the three limited edition shades:

Venice the Party?: a shimmering aqua blue with teal undertones. [This aquamarine would be the life of any party.]

Baroque... But Still Shopping: a pewter fine chunks of matching glitter particles.  The color is a perfect blend of both silver and gold. [It shimmers, it glitters, and it's gold... it's mine!]

St. Mark's the Spot: a shimmering cobalt blue. [Your search for the perfect royal blue pearl is over.]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, cured for 30 seconds each in an LED light, and are taken outdoors in natural lighting).

I must admit how overjoyed and overwhelmed I was upon receiving this elaborate package from OPI.  I review a lot of product, and come across most new collections from huge nail companies, but nevertheless, leave it to OPI to blow even me out of the water.

I think the presentation of the entire collection was so beyond creative, fun, and imaginative. Who ever came up with the idea to include a face mask, recipe cards, and even inspired delectable truffles is so so smart.

As far as the collection and formula are concerned- Love. I think the colors offer a wide variety to satisfy all clients.  I like that there is a little bit of everything, some glitters, some pearly metallics, and amazing cremes.  As for the formulas, I found them all great, painting on smoothly and easily, giving me complete coverage in two coats.  I didn't experience any issues.

My personal favorite shades include: Gelato on my Mind, I Canolli Wear OPI, Worth a Pretty Penne, & St. Mark's the Spot.

Another thing I have to mention is how beyond clever the names are.  I know OPI has always been famous for it's creative names, but this collection hands down hits the ball out of the park.  I died of laughter upon reading some of them, and still do.  Some of my personal favorites include: Baroque... but still Shopping, A Great Opera- tunity, & I Cannoli wear OPI.

The Fall Winter 2015 Venice Collection from OPI is out and available now.

Cuccio Royale Fall 2015 Collection Review

Cuccio Royale Fall 2015 Collection Review 0

"Cuccio Royale-The Fall 2015 collection is a majestic mix of emotionally inspired autumn hues and rich jewel tones. Each luxurious shade of our triple pigmented lacquer and matching soak off gel colour are infused with a bit of creamy couture and sexy shimmer topped off with an imperial high gloss shine only a true princess could appreciate.

Scandalous, mysterious and steeped in old world charm, this regal collection puts your client first in line as heir to the throne of the kingdom of colour.

Cuccio Royale is by far our crowning achievement to date," according to the press release.

The Cuccio Royale Fall 2015 collection includes:

Prince I've been gone: a deep dark jungle green creme with teal undertones. (teal)

Duke it out: an espresso brown shimmer.

Crown Jewels: a gilded coppery yellow gold metallic.  Like most metallic gels, be very careful when applying to avoid making brushstrokes. (copper with green metallic undertones)

That's so Kingky: a rich berry creme.

Count me in: a deep dusty purple creme. (purple)

Wild Knights: a midnight navy blue creme.

Dancing Queen: a medium blue shimmer.  Kind of on the sheer side, I would recommend doing three coats of this color for full opacity.

Royal Flush: a dark burgundy shimmer.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, cured each for 30 seconds in an LED light, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I review a lot of collections that come my way, and I must admit that this is the first collection that actually reads Fall to me.  So many other brands have included bright or pastel shades in their fall color palette, which makes zero sense to me.

I think the shades are great in this collection, they will make for excellent fall manicures.  I like that Cuccio has introduced some new metallics and shimmers to the mix.  I also think the names are getting way more fun & tongue-&-cheek.

I found the shades to be well pigmented, and they painted on smoothly and evenly.  The only shade I would advise being a little careful when painting is with Crown Jewels, just to avoid any major streaking.

My personal favorites include: Crown Jewels & Dancing Queen.

The Cuccio Royale Fall 2015 collection will be available soon, and will retail for approximately $11.95 per 13 ml bottle (.44 fl oz)

CND Shellac Fall 2015 Contradictions Collection Review

CND Shellac Fall 2015 Contradictions Collection Review 0

"Turn up the contrast with the new Fall 2015 Contradictions collection from CND. Textures and tones collide for an unexpected elegance: leather and lace, street and chic, metal and pearl.

“This season’s trends celebrate an unexpected clash between gritty street elements and elegant details for a dynamic combination of glamour and grunge,” says CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “Nails evoke an edgy narrative with blackened pigments and heraldic ornaments. Enhanced almonds in purple and red are deepened and oxidized with smoked pearl and steel finishes.” according to the press release.

CND Shellac Fall 2015 Contradictions Collection includes:

Safety Pin: a semi sheer glistening platinum shimmer.  I have 2 coats in the swatch shown here, but for full opacity I would recommend going with 3 thin coats.

Rouge Rite: a darkened magenta creme with wine undertones.

Peacock Plume: a bold shimmering medium blue.

Naked Naivete: a nude creme with slight rose pink undertones.

Poison Plum: a semi sheer deepened plum purple with purple glitter specs in it.  This is a very different shade for CND.

Tartan Punk: a glowing ruby shimmering red.

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, cured each for 60 seconds in the CND LED lamp, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I personally Love how dramatic and elaborate the descriptions of the collection are from Jan Arnold.  I mean anyone who says "heraldic ornaments" is inherently amazing in my book, and Jan most definitely is amazing!

Collection descriptions aside, I think this is a wonderful transitional collection for customers to comfortably go from bold bright summer colors, to a more autumnal color palette.  I think there is something offered up here for everyone.  Each shade painted on smoothly and evenly in two coats.

My personal favorite shades include: Tartan Punk, Peacock Plume, & Naked Naivete

Also featured here in this post is the brand new Shellac Xpress5 Top Coat.  This revolutionary gel top coat soaks off in just five minutes.  I am so beyond obsessed with this product I can't even tell you.  This makes my life so much easier, and literally cuts my soak off/removal time in half, from 10 minutes down to just 5.  My clients are also very happy and appreciative. ^_^

CND Contradictions Collection is available worldwide July, 2015, and retails for $15.95 per .25 fl oz (7.3 mL) bottle.

Pop-arrazi Pose: a neon watermelon pink creme. (hot pink neon creme)

Do You Harajuku?: a light mint green creme with a subtle shimmer going through it. (mint green creme)

Anime-zing Color!: a bold deep majestic purple creme. (dark purple neon creme)

Manga-round with Me: a hot coral pink creme. (coral neon creme)

(all swatches are two coat, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight.)

I think this is a great collection overall, very pretty and playful.  I really like the fact that the colors pop on their own, without the need of a white base coat, like some other neon shades.  Because they are neon, I highly recommend using a top coat to finish off your look, specifically with the Morgan Taylor nail lacquers.  If you don't use a top coat with these neons, the color can fall somewhat flat.

I didn't experience any issues in application.  All of the polishes and gel polishes applied smoothly and evenly, in two coats.

My personal favorites include: Anime-zing Color!, Manga-round with me, and Do you Harajuku?

The Hello Pretty! Collection from Gelish and Morgan Taylor will be available starting May 2015 at select distributors.

Artistic Nail Design 2015 Wedding Collection Review 0

"Sparkle and shine with fanciful colours in mind.  Artistic Colour Gloss 4 new wedding- worthy colours.

Freshen-up bridal mani colours with sophisticated shades with a touch of glam.  Artistic Nail Design's 2015 Wedding Collection- With This Bling, introduces 4 brand new colours that boast of femininity and flair.  From a dreamy pink to a classic pearl white, each shade will have nails for an unforgettable wedding day.

"For this wedding collection, I was inspired by the excitement of getting married- from the proposal to walking down the aisle.  Every shade in this collection is perfect for any bride-to-be," says Artistic Nail Design Executive VP and Creative Director, Alisha Rimando Botero.  With playful soft colours to a timless pearl white, any pick will accent any ring bling!" according to the press release.

With This Bling collection includes:

Mani of my Dreams: a light blue green mint creme. [celeste turquoise creme]

Always Right: a pale lavender creme, with a very subtle grey undertone. [wisteria creme]

Put a Ring on it: a shimmering white. [pearl white creme]

What a Girl Flaunts: a light carnation pink creme. [soft carnation creme]

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, cured each for 30 seconds in an LED light, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

I must say I am very pleased with this collection; I know it's somewhat small, but it makes for a gorgeous color palette for the spring season.  These colors are pretty timeless and classic in my opinion, and are shades customers will always come back to year after year.  For that reason alone, I highly recommend them.

I found the formulas on all be great, providing complete and smooth coverage in two coats.

My personal two favorite shades are- Put a Ring on It & Always Right

The With This Bling collection is out and available now for a limited time.

Venice Beach ’81 Collection Spring/Summer from Cuccio

Venice Beach ’81 Collection Spring/Summer from Cuccio 0

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you guys all had a great weekend.

Today I've got a great new Spring/Summer collection of gel polishes to share from the folks at Cuccio.

"In 1981 Roby and Tony Cuccio set up shop selling nail polish on the world famous Venice Beach boardwalk.  On that day their dream of building an international beauty brand that embodied the essence and magic of the California lifestyle began!

Inspired by the boardwalk's boundless energy and inspiration, the VENICE BEACH '81 collection is a celebration of color honoring the spirit of this dream and the mecca for style, fashion and creativity that Venice Beach has become," according to the press release.

The Venice Beach '81 Collection of Cuccio Colour Veneer includes:

A Star is Born: various sized pink and baby blue matte hexagonal glitters, along with tinnier matte navy glue glitters, all in a clear base.

Soul Surfer: a light dusty lilac purple creme.

Mimes & Musicians: a mix of pale yellow, pink, and magenta matte hexagonal glitters, all in a clear base.

Roller Skate: an aqua teal blue shimmer.

Good Vibrations: a pastel buttery yellow creme.

Pink Cadillac: a bright magenta pink creme.

Muscle Beach: a bold deep teal creme with slight green undertones.

California Dreamin': a vivid orange coral creme.

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, cured each for 30 seconds in an LED light, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

Overall I think this is a great collection from Cuccio.  The color palette is really pretty and a very good representation of the colorful eclecticism Venice Beach embodies.  Growing up in Los Angeles myself I have frequented the beaches and boardwalks of Venice since childhood, and have many  fond memories.  All that aside, I won't let my childhood interfere with providing a non-biased review.

The formulas on all of the shades was really great, and applied smoothly and evenly in two coats.  None of the shades required a third coat, which I was very pleased with.

My personal favorites from the collection include: California Dreamin;, Soul Surfer, and Roller Skate.

The Venice Beach '81 Collection of Cuccio Colour Veneer is available now.
