Essie Wild Nudes collection review

Essie Wild Nudes collection review 0

"Skin is in this season, so strip down and take the plunge with essie's new wild nudes collection.  Untamed, fierce and sexy, these disarming shades will totally charm the pants off one and all.  It's time to disrobe and show the world your true colors.

Nude can be nice.  From a light tan with a wash of white to a shadowy blue, these shades are meant to be exposed.  Strip down and bare it all in the wildest of nudes.

Take a walk on the wild side and embrace your inner nudist as we dance in the moonlight and become one with nature.  Beyond this point, it's clothing optional, so let's get cozy without a stitch and play a game of truth or bare.  Choose bare and get ready to be exposed because it might be time to skinny dip and go on a cheeky winning streak with all nine wild nude shades." according to the official press release.

The essie wild nudes collection includes:

Skinny Dip: a semi sheer pink nude cream. [light peach pink with a slight hint of black]

Bare with me: a vintage dusty rose pink cream. [apricot tone with gray cast]

Wild Nude: a creamy taupe. [light tan with a wash of white]

Without a Stitch: an elephant gray cream with lavender undertones. [clean light gray]

Mooning: a moody blue gray cream.  Very unique and gorgeous shade. [light shadowy blue with an undertone of black]

Exposed: a dark army green cream with dark grey undertones. [mossy green with a slight white overcast]

Truth or Bare: a mocha chocolate brown cream. [light cinnamon brown with a hint of red]

Clothing Optional: a cinnamon brown cream. [natural sienna brown]

Winning Streak: a dark raisin purple cream with charcoal undertones. [dark purple with a grayish tone]

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I honestly must say that this is probably my most favorite essie collection ever! The colors are beyond gorgeous and so wearable, including on all skin tones, there is something for everyone. They're all creamy and gorgeous, and could realistically be worn year round on both fingers and toes.

I was very impressed with the formula; each color painted on smoothly, evenly, and easily.

I couldn't recommend this collection more.

The essie wild nudes collection is out and available now and retails for $9 per 0.46 fl oz/13.5 ml bottle.

I am so happy and pleased with these two collections.  This is what I have been waiting for.  As we already know I am obsessed with the gel couture line.  The brush is incredible and so easy to work with.  My clients are always intrigued and impressed with the bottle's shape.  And now that the line is offering these gorgeous new shades I couldn't be happier.

I didn't experience any issues whatsoever with the formulas.  I found they all painted on smoothly, easily, and evenly.

Essie Spring 2017 Review

Essie Spring 2017 Review 0

"Don't think. Just get in the car and drive.  Go with your most colorful instincts and take a spur of the moment trip down the coast.  Inspired by sun-filled beach days and spectacular sunsets of Baja, California, the essie spring 2017 collection features warm inviting hues that create the perfect mood for a springtime filled with fashionable adventures.

With Baja in mind, essie Global Color Designer Rebecca Minkoff helped inspire the landscape of colors of the spring 2017 collection- the sapphire waves, the sandy shores and the brilliant, creamy pink sunsets over the cactus-filled desert.  These stunning, vivid colors provide the perfect palette for spring and are the idyllic backdrop for a road trip with your best friends.  So grab your girls and hit your favorite route- this colorful essie road trip is calling your name.

Sparked by a fuchsia b'aha moment and fueled by the perfect plum playlist a la the designated dj, the ride of your life just won't stop- except maybe for a cutie in the car next to you, excuse me, sur.  The vibrant green avocado of on the roadie drives 'em wild, every time.  Backseat besties can't help but laugh out loud when they get punchy in guava pink.  Azure sapphire is all the wave, making a splash in an oceanic hue of blue that's the perfect way to  express yourself in signature essie chic." according to the official press release.

The Essie Spring 2017 collection includes the following shades-

Designated DJ: a deep purple plum creme.

Escuse me, Sur: a fun flamingo pink creme.

On the Roadie: a grass green creme.

Backseat Besties: a carnation pink creme.

All the Wave: a rich deep blue cream. A 1 coat wonder!

B'aha Moment: a raspberry pink cream. A 1 coat wonder!

(all shades shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

This collection is comprised of 6 fun creme shades.  I found them to be highly pigmented, slightly more so than usual, with a couple of them being one coat wonders.  I think the shades are very fun and wearable, with some of the bolder colors people might reserve for their pedicures.

I didn't experience any issues what so ever with the formula.  They all painted on smoothly and beautifully with ease.

The collection is out now and retails for $9 each.

ISSE Long Beach 2017

ISSE Long Beach 2017 0

I had the best time this year at ISSE 2017.  The annual hair, beauty, makeup, nail, and spa show that takes place at the Long Beach Convention Center was held this year on January 28-30.

This year was very different from years passed.  Primarily, almost all of the nail brands were situated near each other, making my life and job a whole lot easier.  In years passed, nail companies were mixed throughout the show so you kind of had to search high and low to find them.

Some of the nail brands in attendance included: Akzentz, Belava, Bio Sculpture Gel, China Glaze, Christrio, Color Club, Skyline Beauty Supply, ibd, Jessica Cosmetics, LeChat, Nail Labo, Orly, E Nail Couture, Sha-Nail Pro, Vetro, Young Nails, Gelish, Morgan Taylor, Entity Beauty, Artistic Nail Design, Famous Names, Bio Seaweed Gel, etc.

Some nail brands that showed there for the first time included: Aora Nails, Kokoist, Joya Mia, Brillbird USA, and NCLA.

Some of the nail brands not there this year: essie, CND, Light Elegance, INM, Crystal Nails, ENP, OPI, & Apres Nails.

I loved meeting up with the various companies and catching up and seeing whats new.

I also enjoyed meeting with the newer brands showing for the first time at the convention.  Brillbird USA, for instance, is an awesome highly extensive product line from Hungary.  They offered so many cool things including one stroke art paint, 3-D sculpting gels, and flakey chrome pigments, which is soon to become all the rage.

Aora Nails, this was their first year at the show and they made quite a splash with their huge and highly impressive booth showcasing their chrome pigments and magnetic gel polishes.

Kokoist, a fantastic brand from Japan, was there for the first time, showing their gorgeous highly pigmented potted gels and highly popular fine brushes.

NCLA was there to promote their new line of gel polishes, Gelous?, which I recently got to try and must say, I really Love the formula. They're all 7-free, highly pigmented, and last up to three weeks.

As a whole, I would say this year was year of Chrome. Almost every brand was offering some sort of iteration of the trendy pigment powder, and performing many demos showing what can be achieved with it.  Some of the brands offering chrome included- Skyline Beauty Supply, Nail Labo, Aora Nails, Bio Seaweed Gel, Bio Structure Gel, LeChat Nails, and E Nail Couture. The most impressive and informational of all the brands I felt was LeChat.  They have a rather extensive offering of chromes, 12 colors, and one of their top educators, Anastasiia Morozova, showed me a few of her award winning design techniques.

Some of the brands did things differently this year and combined booths creating an almost mega booth.  Hand and Nail Harmony, for instance,  partnered up with Skyline Beauty Supply and had one large booth representing many of their brands, including: Morgan Taylor, Gelish, Artistic Nail Design, and Entity Beauty.

Skyline Beauty Supply probably had the biggest of all the companies booths, having 5 different segments all showcasing different things.  There was Whale Spa on one end,  Vetro in the middle,  Sha-Nail Pro on the other side of that wall, Chrome Pigments and matte top coats were in their own section, and then Hand and Nail Harmony section as mentioned previously.  So they definitely took up the most floor space at the show this year and had the largest booth.

Nonetheless, I would have to say Nail Labo was yet again the busiest booth of the show.  Whether it's demos with famed celebrity nail artists, like Britney Tokyo or Miho Nails, looki-loos, or just shoppers stocking up on their favorite brand at a discount.

I can't fail to mention I met one of my favorite YouTubers, Suzie Manko, from Suzie's Nail Career Education.  She was so sweet and lovely in person I adore her all the more.

Like every year, I had each of my nails done by a different nail artist from around the world.  My absolute favorite this year goes to my left thumb which features a hand drawn portrait of my malti-poo BooBoz, by the highly talented Vu Nguyen.  It took him around ten minutes to do, and literally used just white and black gel polish in various mixed ratios.  The result is absolutely stunning and so life like.

If you weren't able to make it to this years show, I highly suggest checking it out next year, there is already information up on the website.  Also, if you don't want to commit to a three day pass, you can always go for one day and still have an amazing experience.

the essie winter 2016 collection is comprised of the following shades-

This is an excellent collection.  Very beautiful an highly wearable colors that are sure to  be in demand this holiday season, but without the cheesy super glittery effect.  I found the formula to be quite awesome and very easy to work with.  There is no difference in the colors between the two formulas, the gel and polish, the colors are a perfect match.

My personal favorites are: Ready to boa and Go with the flowy.

Essie Fall 2016 Collection Review

Essie Fall 2016 Collection Review 0

"There is a reason why the fashion-savvy flock to the number one street style destination in the world: Tokyo. Japan's electric capital boasts taste, flair and an uncanny aptitude for mixing fashion metaphors. If you're lucky enough to be there in the fall, you get the added picturesque pleasure of watching the autumn leaves change color against the magnificent gray backdrop of Mount Fuji in the distance. Get caught in a whirlwind of spectacular fall color fit for a Geisha, introducing essie fall 2016 collection.

From Ginza to Harajuku, it's impossible not to find yourself entranced in the mix of Tokyo's colorful surroundings! Inspired by essie Glorbal Color Designer, Rebecca Minkoff's, time in Tokyo, the essie fall 2016 collection captures the city's wild street style, electric cuisine and riot of autumnal colors.

The six shade palette of mesmerizing hues channels the changing fall foliage along with the modern and traditional sides of Tokyo's bustling city. Ranging from intense deeps to serene pastels, the essie fall 2016 collection bottles up the perfect balance of trendsetting color and classic looks.

now and zen all you need is a night on the town to maki me happy, tell the girls to kimono on over and go go geisha tonight. Tokyo is the city to forget playing koi- udon know me yet, but after a night of karaoke you'll never forget me." according to the official press release.

The essie fall 2016 collection is comprised of the following creamy colors-

Kimono Over: a deep purple grape cream. [inviting damson plum]

Playing Koi: a spiced pumpkin cream. A mix of burnt orange and brown. [flirtatious orange rust]

Go go Geisha: a dusty light pink rose cream. [antique blossom pink]

Udon Know Me: a washed light blue cream, with slight gray undertones. [mysterious stony blue]

(all swatches are 2 coats, unless stated otherwise, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

This is a very beautiful collection.  And I think some of the most creative, clever, and quirky names Essie has yet to come out with. Only one of the colors I am not a huge fan of, Playing Koi, but that doesn't mean others won't like it.

My personal favorites are: Kimono Over, Now and Zen, and Udon Know Me

essie's fall 2016 collection retails at $9 per 0.46 fl oz (13.5 mL) and is available now.

the 16 essie gel couture shades I have to share with you here include-

Rock the Runway: a bright firey cherry red cream.  [fierce scarlet red]

2. Sit me in the Front Row: a deep magenta cream.  [distinguished juicy raspberry]

3. Haute to Trot: a playful peony pink cream. [handcrafted lavender rose]

4. Model Citizen: a medium magenta cream.  [flawless light deep pink]

5. On the List: a coral peach cream.  [prolific tangerine coral]

6. Beauty Nap: a sage green cream.  [dreamy gray-moss]

7. Labels Only: a medium lavender with a pink shimmer running through it.  [lavish frosted sapphire]

8. Find me on a Man-nequin: a blue purple hybrid cream.  [magnetic ultramarine blue]

9. Twill Seeker: a medium grayed out purple with an iridescent green shimmer running through it.  [enchanting pewter with sage luster]

10. Model Clicks: a rich oxblood cream.  [fashionable aubergine wine]

11. Gala-Vanting: a deep burgundy cream.  [jovial marooned red]

12. Surrounded by Studs: a dark navy blue cream with slate gray undertones.   [bejeweled blue]

13. Caviar Bar: an indigo navy blue cream.  [magnificent deep navy]

14. Pre-show Jitters: an off white cream with slight pink undertones. [alabaster white]

15. Make the Cut: a pearlized taupe beige cream.  It's so gorgeous and super unique in my opinion  [pearlized nude greige]

16. Fairy Tailor: a semi sheer pink nude. You can see visible nail line through it.  [sheer nude pink]

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I am absolutely in LOVE with this latest line from Essie.  When I was first exposed to it back in April at the Nail Pro Pasadena trade show I was super impressed- the bottle, the packaging, the bristles, the brush, the pigmentation, almost everything about it.

I don't think I have ever used a polish that painted on more smoothly, evenly, or as easily as this does.  The contoured brush bristles make painting near the cuticle area a dream come true.  The revolutionary swirl design on the brush helps prevent polish dripage, which can be a huge bummer not to mention a complete mess.

The fact that the polish dries faster than conventional polishes is a huge plus not only for me as a tech, but more importantly for my clients who impatiently wait for their nails to dry.  And if I am working on a set, this product line is an absolute dream come true.

The color offerings are perfect too.  Not too many colors, but just enough to please everyone's taste and preferences.

The top coat is smooth, and pleasantly plump.

One of my biggest concerns was storage.  I was worried that due to the beautiful shape of the bottles, I would have issues storing the polishes on my nail polish wall racks.  Need not fear.  The bottles fit perfectly, and aligned very beautifully at an elegant angle.

Some of my personal favorites include: Make the Cut, Caviar Bar, and Rock the Runway

essie's gel couture nail polish retails at $11.50 per bottle and will be available at, fine salons and beauty destinations nationwide.

Essie Summer 2016 Collection review

Essie Summer 2016 Collection review 0

"Travel feeds the soul. Adventure excited the senses.  For thrilling sights in an array of shades, Antigua is the place to just be. From St. John's to English Harbor, the island's colorful towns, gorgeous craft makers, tribal text-styles and brilliant food excite the senses and are ripe for the ideal inspiration for the essie summer 2016 collection.

Summertime is the moment to get inspired by adventurous color, and there is no better place to defy convention and go bold, than the sun-soaked shores of Antigua! Leave the guidebook behind and strike out on a style itinerary all your own. No matter where you go, there's an essie Summer 2016 shade to reflect your fashion ambitions." according to the official press release.

The Essie Summer 2016 Collection includes the following shades-

Hiking Heels: a bright bold cherry red cream. [scorching hot lava red]

Viva Antigua!: a turquoise blue with fine shimmer running through it. [iridescent crystalline turquoise]

Coconut Cove: a vanilla white cream. [sweet cream white]

Loot the Booty: a royal blue with fine blue and purple shimmer in it. [pave sapphire blue]

Tribal Text-Styles: a midnight sparkling gunmetal. [black gold and crushed onyx]

Berried Treasure: a bright red/magenta cream. [bright ruby berry]

(all swatches shown here are two coats and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

What I am most impressed and in love with this collection is the formula, how highly well pigmented the shades were. Almost all of the colors in this collection provided almost complete coverage in a single coat, it was truly remarkable. I used two coats as usual just for good measure.

I also really love the sparkly nature of many of the colors, perfect for summer pedicures.

And even if your not head over heels in love with this entire collection, trust me and at least invest in a couple of the colors; the formula is honestly that good!

My personal favorites are: Tirbal Text-Styles and Loot the Booty

Each bottle is 13.5 ml (0.46 fl oz).

Essie's Summer 2016 Collection retails at $9 per bottle and will be available June 2016

Essie Resort 2016 Collection Review

Essie Resort 2016 Collection Review 0

"Opulent silk. Saturated hues. Dazzling sights. essie's new resort 2016 collection is influenced by the magnificent fashion, culture, and sheer beauty of India.  From the Gem Palace of Jaipur to vibrant saris, India's incredible mix of colors and tradition is the ultimate inspiration for this mesmerizing collection.

The four new resort shades feature an exhilarating palette of colors seen throughout India's landscape. From the vibrant market stalls and golden desert sands, to the azure waters, the country's unique contrast of tradition and modernism treasures offer splendid inspiration.  Sparkling like a mirrored jewel, essie's resort 2016 collection is sure to be the trip of a lifetime!" according to the official press release.

The essie resort 2016 collection includes the following shades:

Delhi Dance: a bright and bold bubble gum pink creme. [bright sari pink]

Nama-stay the night: a bold medium blue creme. [divine goa blue]

Going guru: a light mint green creme. [meditative mint lime]

Taj-ma-haul: an apricot orange creme. [spicy marigold apricot]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I have a personal soft spot for essie's resort collections.  Every year I get so excited for it to come out.  I like this collection, but I am not head over heels in love; the colors just don't do it for me personally.  They don't remind me of India, but then again, I have never been.  But upon first glance, India is not at all what comes to mind. Had I not read the press release I would of had zero idea there was an Indian influence.

As far as the polishes are concerned, the formula was excellent and they were all very pigmented. I didn't experience any issues when painting, there was zero brushstrokes in sight.

I have to admit though the names are very fun.  Essie doesn't always have the funniest or most clever names that some other brands have, but I feel they're definitely trying to improve that.

My personal favorites are Nama-stay the night and Going guru

The essie resort 2016 collection will be available in May, and retails for $8.50 per 0.46 fl oz (13.5 mL) bottle.

Essie Spring 2016 Review

Essie Spring 2016 Review 0

"This season, the runways in New York, London, Milan and Paris are filled with jets.  That's right, from Heathrow to JFK, fashionistas and discerning travelers are packing up and taking off to the same place: Florida! With so many luxurious destinations to choose from, the sunshine state offers every shade of fun in paradise.  Like the sun, fashion burns hotter in Florida and essie's new spring 2016 collection is no exception.

Reflecting the spirit of spring in chic retreats like Palm Beach, essie's newest collection strikes the perfect balance between fashion forward and retro glamour.  These six new compelling shades are bold, bright and each a slice of life from paradise.  So when spring arrives, don't resist the call of the beach: head to the Sunshine State or if you can't get away, try to cultivate a sunshine state of mind" according to the official press release.

The new Essie Spring 2016 Collection consists of the following shades:

Sunshine State of Mind: a bright and bold tangerine creme. [blazing coral tangelo]

Poolside Service: a deep blue/gray/teal cream.  I know that doesn't seem to help explain much, but this is a very beautiful and highly unique shade. [crisp cerulean blue]

High Class Affair: a creamy nude with slight peach undertones.  [amorous blush nude]

Shades On: a lovely lilac cream. [mysterious cool violet]

Lounge Lover: a creamy flamingo pink. [pretty pink peach]

Off Tropic: a rich forest green cream. [lush grove green]

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

To be entirely frank and honest, upon first glance at this collection I thought to myself, "well this doesn't look very Spring!" but after spending some more time swatching the shades and reading what the inspiration was behind the collection it all started to make sense.  Much like the Metropolitan musings of Miami and other Florida destinations, there's rich intense colors abound, such as Off Tropic and Poolside Service that can do very well in warm spring months; particularly for toes.  Other shades in the collection are straight up reminiscent of Florida, and I find totally on point, like Lounge Lover and Sunshine State of Mind.

As far as the formula is concerned, I found all the shades in this collection to be very well pigmented.  I achieved full coverage in two nice coats.  I didn't experience any issues with any of the colors.  There's no visible brush strokes, streaking, or anything of the nature to report on.

My personal favorites from this collection include High Class Affair and Poolside Service.

Also worth mentioning, this collection comes in matching gel polish form.

Essie's Spring 2016 Collection retails for $8.50 per 0.46 fl oz (13.5 mL) bottle, and is available now.

Essie Retro Revival 2016 Collection Review

Essie Retro Revival 2016 Collection Review 0

"For essie's fabulous 35th anniversary, we're celebrating Vegas-style, in honor of the ultimate party town where it all began.  When the brand first debuted, there was no better place to create a splash than in Las Vegas where showgirls and chic card dealers fell instantly in love with the game-changing assortment of shades.  For them, a beautiful manicure was a winning hand.

In celebration of this iconic birthday, the legendary essie color archive has been opened with a thrilling glimpse into the brand's dazzling history.  The result is a limited edition collection of six iconic shades.  With pearl, sheer, frosted and iridescent shades, each promises a sparkling night of thrills.  And, yes... the rumors are true: we're bringing back starry starry night! It wouldn't be a party without this coveted item, until now fetching hundreds of dollars on eBay.

Isn't it fun getting into a retro mood? As a nod to the iconic vintage sign of the Stardust Casino that lit up the Strip, this one-of-a- kind collection features gold starbursts embellished on essie's signature white cap.  It's a time to head to Vegas to party like its 1981!" according to the official press release.

Essie's Retro Revival 2016 Collection includes the following shades:

Life of the Party: a deep cranberry shimmer. Very highly pigmented.  Provided excellent coverage with even one coat.  From 2002. [pinot noir pearl]

Cabana Boy: a pearly very light gray with a faint lavender undertone. From 2005. [ultra-cool pearly white]

Sequin Sash: a semi-sheer shimmering nude with beige/pink undertones. From 2005. [sheer glittery bronze]

Bikini with a Martini: a semi-sheer frosted pink with an iridescence running through it. From 2006. [frosted iridescent pink]

Birthday Suit: a light beige creme. From 1981, part of the original 12 essie colors. [cheeky delicate nude]

Starry Starry Night: a jelly dark navy blue with small silver glitter specks in it. From 1985. The original formula is said to have contained diamond dust.  Unfortunately this newer version doesn't, but it's still gorgeous, and to the untrained eye, you would never in a million years be able to tell.  [twinkling midnight blue]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I don't think I have ever been more obsessed with a polish collection! I absolutely LOVE the idea of bringing back old classic coveted shades.  The notion is absolutely brilliant, and I sure hope this isn't the only time essie does it.  I also love the gold starbursts on the bottle, attention to detail is everything!

As far as the formula is concerned, they all painted on smoothly, evenly, and easily.  I didn't experience any issues like brush strokes, or pooling.

It's so hard for me to pick favorites, but if I absolutely have to, I would say: Starry Starry Night, Sequin Sash, and Cabana Boy are my top 3 must haves.

Keep in mind this collection is limited edition, so make sure to not wait and grab these colors before they're gone for good.

Essie's limited-edition Retro Revival 2016 Collection retails at $8.50 per bottle and will be available in January 2016 at, fine salons, and beauty destinations nationwide.

Essie winter 2015 collection review

Essie winter 2015 collection review 0

"Introducing the essie winter 2015 collection.  Temperatures are dropping.  Snow is falling.  Ski chic adventures await.  Now is the perfect time to make a dash for the mountains where beautiful vistas, clear skies and a winter wonderland will give you a taste for life at the top.  A mountain holiday is the ideal moment to showcase your elevated style; and no apres-ski ensemble is complete without the perfect manicure.

Whether you're feeling luxe or low-key, essie's new collection of six wintery shades are sure to melt hearts- and the winter's chill.  Showcasing seductive reds and crisp pastels with an iconic platinum and fiery black, this collection is perfect for me-time or ski-time" according to the official press release.

The Essie Winter 2015 collection is comprised of:

Apres-Chic: a metallic chrome silver.  Applied smoothly and evenly without any brush streaks at all.  I am so impressed.  Highly pigmented.  Provided amazing coverage with just a single coat! I am absolutely obsessed with this silver.

Shall we Chalet?: a deep crimson red creme.  Has slight blue undertones.

Peak Show: a very light ballet slipper soft pink creme.

Virgin Snow: a light lilac creme.

Altitude Attitude: a brighter red creme, with slight pink undertones.

Haute Tub: a blackened amethyst purple complete with fine purple shimmer. Very highly pigmented.  Provided excellent coverage with just one coat.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I really enjoyed this collection.   I think it is very fitting for the upcoming holiday season, and will be the perfect offerings as the cooler crisp weather comes our way.

I find the shades to be very sophisticated, yet still maintaining a playful side.  I still can't get over how wonderful the formula is on Apres-chic.  Usually metallic silver polishes can be extremely streaky, but this wasn't at all.  Also, I appreciate that Essie continuously goes out of their comfort zone and introduces new innovative shades to their collection like the gorgeous shimmering Haute Tub.

My personal favorites from this colleciton are: Haute Tub and Apres- chic.

Essie's Winter 2015 collection retails for $8.50 per 0.46 fl oz (13.5 mL) bottle, and is available now.

Essie fall 2015 collection review

Essie fall 2015 collection review 0

"Lights? Check/ Sound? Check. Inspiring colors? You're on! Taking center stage this season is essie's fall 2015 collection inspired by iconic rock'n'roll royalty.  Fashioned after the darlings music scene, the collection captures the era's rebellious spirit and style that made it famous.  From the fierce attitude to the fashionable clothes, it's all about the perfectly stylish queen of the entourage that everyone on the a-list wants or wants to be.  Rule number one: if you want to be a muse, dress for success.

the six compelling shades of essie's fall 2015 collection capture the powerful allure of the ingenues of the classic rock era with intensely saturated hues.  Deep red smolder with brazen beauty, midnight blue wields hypnotic power and shimmering bronze emerges from the night and onto the dance floor.  Mix major attitude with killer style and seize the moment in shades tailor made to rock" according to the official press release .

The essie fall 2015 collection is comprised of the following shades-

With the Band: a dark cranberry brick red creme.  Heavily pigmented.  Essentially a 1 Coat Wonder! [toasted spice burgundy]

Color Binge: a firey orange creme with red undertones.  incredibly pigmented.  a 1 Coat Wonder. [burning red orange]

Bell- bottom Blues: a shimmering metallic dark blue. a 1 Coat Wonder. In the bottle there's a slight purple shimmer, but it doesn't quite translate to the nail once painted. [intense midnight indigo]

Frock 'n roll: a dark espresso brown shimmer.  a 1 Coat Wonder. [shimmering rich espresso]

In the Lobby: a rich eggplant aubergine creme. [exotic cinnamon plum]

Leggy Legend: a coppery metallic bronze. [alloyed bronze bombshell]

(all swatches are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural lighting.)

I really like this latest collection from Essie.  I think the colors are all beautiful and very fitting for the season.  There is something for everyone.

Aside from the gorgeous hues, I am most impressed with the formula.  I don't think I have ever come across a collection that is so richly pigmented.  What I mean by that is with even one coat, you essentially have full and complete coverage.  Many of the shades you can honestly get away with applying only one coat; saving you tons of time, product, & ultimately $$.

My personal favorites from the collection include: Frock 'n roll, Color Binge, and Leggy Legend.

essie's fall 2015 collection is out available now, & retails for $8.50 per .46 fl oz (13.5 ml) bottle.

Essie Neon 2015 Collection Review

Essie Neon 2015 Collection Review 0

"Introducing Essie Neon 2015 Collection: Music festivals are the perfect place to showcase your edgiest looks.  And what goes better with wristbands than shades- of polish, of course? So, get ready to make your stylish mark and stand out in the crowd with street style-ready, eye catching essie neons.

Essie's six new shades of neon boost your fashion quotient with amped color that hits the perfect note of self- assured chic.  Rave- worthy pink and turned-up electric blue create major impact, while ridiculously haute neon lime and it-girl magenta command attention in the stands.  So, polish up and let the festival season begin" according to the press release.

The Essie Neon 2015 Collection includes the following shades-

Make Some Noise: a deep aqua marine blue creme.  Provided great coverage in even one coat. [raucous electric blue]

Vibrant Vibes: a bright lime green creme.  Also had excellent coverage in a single coat, which is supremely rare for polishes this color.  [vivid neon lime]

Groove is in the Heart: a peony pink creme.  [peachy pink neon]

All Access Pass: a majestic grape purple creme.  [boho violet indigo]

Coacha'bella: a vibrant fuchsia creme.  [it-girl molten magenta]

Melody Maker: a bold green leaning teal creme.  [deep lyrical teal]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light.)

I have noticed some fellow nail bloggers have gotten into a rather tizzy over this collection for they claim its not truly Neon.  Yes, I agree it's not a conventional neon collection, however, I think the term "neon" is simply a matter of semantics.  In my humble opinion, I view this collection as being bold, bright, definitely festival inspired and ready, and perfect for the summer.  Regardless of whether its neon or not doesn't necessarily matter, the colors are still great and had an excellent formula.

Typically with neon colors you need to apply a white base before hand in order to make the colors really pop.  This collection doesn't require that at all, saving you tons of time and product.

I found the formula painted on smoothly and evenly, and that almost all of the shades were very heavily pigmented and saturated with color- which I Love.

My personal favorites include: Vibrant Vibes, Coacha'bella, and Make Some Noise

The Essie Neon 2015 Collection retails for $8.50 per 0.46 fl oz (13.5 ml) bottle, and will be available beginning this month.

Essie Summer 2015 Collection review

Essie Summer 2015 Collection review 0

"Introducing essie summer 2015 collection: Unleash your inner beach goddess with essie's stunning summer 2015 collection. Inspired by the season's molten days that stretch into fun-filled nights, essie's fresh new palette presents six shades that put a new spin on summer color.

Tuned up and plugged in, these vibrant shades fuse striking punch-brights with a razor-sharp edge and a touch of cool that's distinctively essie.  Each shade's unique sensibility and subtle wit make it easy to experiment with color, mix it up and play.  So head to the water's edge to soak up the sun and the scene with sizzling new colors!" according to the press release.

The Essie Summer 2015 Collection includes:

Private Weekend: a pina colada white creme with a fine subtle shimmer running through it.  [sparkling crisp white]

Chillato: a mellow chartreuse creme.  Leans more on the yellow side then green.  [frozen cream pistachio]

Peach Side Babe: a vibrant peach creme with warm coral undertones.  [sun-ripe preach]

Sunset Sneaks: a neon fire red with bold bright pink undertones.  Was richly pigmented.  I had complete coverage in one coat.  [bright energetic crimson]

Saltwater Happy: a periwinkle blue creme.  Also well pigmented.  I had complete coverage in a single coat. [sugar-sweet Atlantic blue]

Pret-a-Surfer: a cornflower blue creme.  Was also highly pigmented.  Full coverage in 1 coat.  A 1 coat wonder!! [immersive marine blue]

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight.)

I am really impressed and super happy with this latest collection from Essie.  I think they definitely nailed it on the head with the color palette this season.  In my opinion, it's not necessarily that the colors are all super unique, however they all go together beautifully, and are shades I most definitely see clients requesting time and time again.

I found the formulas on all of the shades to be quite great and very easy to work with.  I want to point out a few of the shades there were complete Superstars in my opinion, that literally painted on as smooth as butter: Pret-a-surfer, Saltwater Happy, & Sunset Sneaks.

I highly recommend you pick up this collection once it hits stores.

My personal favorites include: Chillato, Sunset Sneaks, and Pret-a-Surfer

Essie Summer 2015 Collection retails for $8.50 per 0.46 fl oz (13.5 ml) bottle, and will be starting in June 2015.
