OPI Hawaii Collection Spring/Summer 2015 Review

OPI Hawaii Collection Spring/Summer 2015 Review 0

Hawaii Collection by OPI brings the fresh, bright colors of its namesake islands to nails and toes for Spring/Summer 2015.  This new collection features a palette ranging from muted tones of mint, peach, pink and nude to border hues of coral, green, purple and gold to deep tones of mauve, violet, brick red and shimmery blue.

"After the long months of winter, women are eager to embrace color- from soft pastels to bold accents to gleaming metallics explains Suzi Weiss- Fischmann.  "Caught in a perpetual state of spring, the Hawaii islands were the ideal inspiration for this year's seasonal collection.  OPI looked toward the surf, sand, and sunsets found at Hawaii's beautiful beaches, as well as the islands' lush greenery, tropical flowers, and colorful fish, to create 12 fresh new nail shades" according to the press release.

The Spring/Summer 2015 Hawaii Collection includes:

Suzi Shops & Island Hops: a strawberry milkshake pink creme.  [a light and happy pink that's the perfect traveling companion.]

Lost My Bikini In Molokini:  a grape jellybean creme.  [with this reef-inspired purple, what's one bikini more or less?]

This Color's Making Waves: a metallic aqua blue with reflective green and gold undertones.  [this shimmery, lagoon blue has got heads turning.]

Pineapples Have Peelings Too!: a shimmering yellow gold base with large multi-colored round glitter.  I am not a big fan of this shade personally. [the heart of the matter lies in this gold shimmer with colorful sparkle.]

Just Lanai-ing Around: a dusty magenta creme. [this dark, creamy mauve says "hang loose!" in style.]

Hello Hawaii Ya?: a dusty violet creme.  [in this gorgeous, dusky purple, I'm doing just fine.]

Is Mai Tai Crooked? an orange creamsicle creme.  [get it straight- this fruity orange creme is fabulous!]

Aloha From OPI: a fiery neon coral red.  One of my favs in the collection! It is so gorgeous and bright in person!  [let's give a warm island hello to this bright creamy coral!]

That's Hula-rious!: a pastel mint green creme. A very pretty shade.   [this pastel mint green makes me dance with joy!]

Do You Take Lei Away?:  a creamy deep nude creme.  [on second thought, I can't wait-  I need this creamy nude now!]

My Gecko Does Tricks:  a metallic grassy green with yellow golden undertones that flash in the light.  I love this shade.  I find it to be super unique, and its on my toes as we speak.  [being bright and pearly green is just one of its talents.]

Go With The Lava Flow: a golden orange-ish red shimmer.  [you can feel the heat shimmering off this golden red.]

(all swatches are two coats, taken outdoors in natural light.)

Overall I think this is a great collection.  Because it is so large, 12 shades, there is something to literally offer every type of customer and person.  The quality and formula was excellent across the board on all shades, as is typically the case with OPI polishes.  I personally am not a fan of "Pineapples Have Peelings Too", because I find it to be an ugly color.  I could understand the initial concept they might have had when making it, I just think the vision and execution wasn't properly undertaken.  Other than that, the other 11 shades I think are totally great.

My personal favorites include: That's Hula-rious!, My Gecko Does Tricks, & Aloha from OPI.

OPI's Hawaii Collection is available now & retails for $9.50 each at professional salons, including Beauty Brands, Chatters, Dillard's, Regis, ULTA, and ulta.com

NCLA: an L.A. Fairytale Spring 2015 Review

NCLA: an L.A. Fairytale Spring 2015 Review 0

Hey guys.  Happy Hump Day!

I hope you're all doing well.

Today I'm stoked to share with you all the latest collection from hip Los Angeles based nail brand NCLA- An L.A. Fairytale for Spring 2015.  Comprised of four matte glitters, although a relatively small collection it still packs a magical punch!

an LA Fairytale Collection includes:

Once Upon a Time: a creamy oatmeal beige with white, magenta, baby pink, baby blue round matte glitter particles and yellow tiny bar glitters.  Has great coverage with even just one coat! ["Your fairytale finish is here with this multi-colored glitter confection that adds a magical final touch to any look!"]

Enchanted City: a sheer clear base with micro fine silver holo glitter, and larger matte aqua blue glitter bits.  Visible nail line does show if used on its own. ["Who needs a bluebird on their shoulder when this sparkly baby blue lacquer adds a cheerful dose of color to any look?"]

Valet My Carriage: a sheer clear base with micro find gold holo glitter, and larger matte light peach round glitter bits.  Also has visible nail line showing if used on its own. ["No need for Rumpelstiltskin here! This glitter-infused topcoat will give you more gold than any princess in all of La La Land."]

Ever After in LA: a sheer clear base with fine silver holo glitter, and larger matte white/pink glitter bits.  Also has visible line showing through if used on its own.  ["Mirror, mirror, on the wall, our silver glitter polish is the best reflective surface of them all!"]

(all swatches shown here are two coats and are shown without a top coat, as recommended to ensure matte effect.)

This was my first time trying NCLA's nail lacquer line, although I have used and Love their Nail Wraps.  I must say I was also pleased with their polishes.  Glitter can be a nightmare, we've all been there, and know it all to well.  However, these all removed very easily;  I didn't have to struggle or soak them in acetone, they simply came off with regular polish remover.  Also, I have to note how densely packed with glitter they are.  Unlike most other glitter polishes on the marker these didn't require multiple coats or finagling of the glitter in any way to get specific pieces.  It painted on smoothly and easily.

Once Upon A Time aside, I recommend using the other three shades to layer atop other solid shades, for instance paring Enchanted City with a baby blue creme like Santa Monica Shore Thing or Eight Days a Week (not shown here).  But if you are into the sheer look and want some magical pizzazz and sparkle wear them alone.  Either way you can't go wrong.

Each of the NCLA shades from an L.A. Fairytale retails for $16 and is available now.

Beautiful color awaits you… The NEW Zoya Delight Collection samples are now available. This is your chance to enjoy an updated, flirty way to wear pastels all season long! All in the long-wearing, full-coverage, Big 5 Free* formula Zoya Nail Polish is famous for" according to the company.

The Delight Spring 2015 collection includes:

Lillian: a light aqua blue creme. [faded aquamarine]

Eden: a bright magenta creme. [classic spring flower pink]

Daisy: a pastel lemon yellow with blue shimmer running through it. [refreshing lemon meringue yellow metallic with turquoise metallic flash]

Overall I really enjoyed this collection.  I think the colors are perfect as spring approaches and the weather warms up.  I really enjoyed the blue iridescent shimmer that runs through three of the shades, I found it unique and pretty.  As far as the formulas are concerned, they were all great, and provided very easy, clean, and smooth application.

My personal favorites include: Tiana, Leslie, & Daisy

Essie Cashmere Matte Collection Swatches + Review

Essie Cashmere Matte Collection Swatches + Review 0

"The next big thing is here- essie's luxuriously ground-breaking cashmere matte 2015 collection.  With a satin-matte finish that is instantly iconic, these shades capture essie's powerful penchant for fashion and irresistible individuality.

Inspired bu the beauty and elegance of the world's best cashmeres, these six shades are infused with Reflective semi-matte agents and color mica-pearls to deliver a soft matte finish.  The revolutionary combination of matte and a subtle color is a best worn as a fashion accessory; it's a statement suitable for any and every season," according to the press release.

The Essie Cashmere Matte 2015 Collection includes:

Wrap me up: a creamy off-white with pale pink undertones.   They describe it as a whisper soft pink.

Coat Couture: a grayed out plum purple with shimmer running through it. They describe it as a sultry greige beneath deep purple shimmer

Comfy in Cashmere: a dusty mauve with grey undertones and shimmer running through it.  They describe it as mauve with deep velvet undertones.

Spun in Luxe: a blackened blue.  They describe it as a sophisticated matte blue-black.  A One Coat Wonder! Has excellent full coverage in a single coat.  Very highly pigmented.  If you do use two coats, however, the blue gets lost and the color just looks like matte black.  In order to maintain the pretty blue/black shade, I recommend sticking with just one coat of this shade.

All Eyes on Nudes: a creamy beige nude.  They describe it as a camel-hued neutral tone.

Just Stitched: a light carnation pink with shimmer running through it.  They describe it as a warm pearly-plush pink.  A very girly shade.  Reminds me of old- school Sanrio products from my childhood.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, with no top coat, as directed; in natural sunlight).

Please be advised, like all matte- finish nail products, it is not recommended you use them with a top coat.

Overall I really like this collection.  I think it's a perfect for a transition from dark winter hues to brighter pastel spring shades.

I have read on other blogs some people have difficulty with application and brush strokes.  I fortunately didn't have any problems in the application.  I will say this, however, when applying this matte shades always be sure to apply with very light or no pressure; this will help avoid brush strokes.  I also found that each layer dried very quickly, which is always a huge plus.  With two coats, you are good to go within minutes.  I Love that about this collection: no top cot needed, and it dries super fast, who could complain?!

My personal favorite shades include:  Coat Couture, Comfy in Cashmere, & Spun in Luxe

Essie's Cashmere Matte Collection retails for $8.50 per bottle, and is available now at essie.com, fine salons, and beauty destinations nationwide.  Pick up yours now.

Deborah Lippmann Whisper Collection- Spring 2015 review

Deborah Lippmann Whisper Collection- Spring 2015 review 0

"Shhh… this Spring, find serenity with Deborah Lippmann’s new Whisper collection, featuring sheer, light colors that are clean and understated, yet modern and refined. As easy to apply as they are to wear, all four shades float over the nails with a soft and effortless elegance. Always inspired by the fashion and beauty around her, it was backstage at Honor’s S/S 2014 show, where Deborah became captivated by the quiet, yet dramatic effects of the light cascading through the models chiffon fabrics as they exited backstage. A moment – calm and peaceful amongst the chaos. Like a soft whisper.

Explore your softer side with these tranquil shades: Like Dreamers Do, a sheer pale bisque previewed at the Badgley Mischka, Theory and Donna Karan S/S 2015 runway shows, A Fine Romance, a sheer pearly champagne, Misty Morning, a sheer blue-grey, and Chantilly Lace, a sheer iridescent pink" according to the press release.

The Whisper collection includes:

A Fine Romance: a pale nude with a fine golden iridescent shimmer.

Misty Morning: a super pale powder baby blue with grey undertones.

Chantilly Lace: a super pale powder pink with iridescent shimmer.

Like Dreamers Do: a light toasted almond with subtle gray undertones.

(all swatches shown here are two coats).

This collection to me serves as a nice respite from all the highly saturated and dark shades we've been wearing for fall/winter.  Keep in mind this entire four piece collection is SHEER, so if you are not a fan of sheer polishes with visible nail line showing, consider yourself warned, this collection might not be for you.

I typically am not a fan of sheer polishes, but I find these shades in particular to breathe a breath of fresh air.  The undertones or iridescent shimmer gives them dimension and subtle texture, something not present in other brand's sheer polishes.

Considering the fact that the shades are all sheer, I did not have any problems with application.  I found each shade painted on smoothly and evenly in two coats; being very well pigmented for sheer shades.  I have seen other bloggers using three coats, but I don't find it necessary.  This collection is intended to be very light, airy, and ethereal.

My personal favorites in this collection are A Fine Romance & Chantilly Lace

Each shade retails for $18, and can be purchased online at www.deborahlippmann.com and at
Barneys New York, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Sephora stores nationwide.

Fifty Shades of Grey by OPI

Fifty Shades of Grey by OPI 0

"The Fifty Shades of Grey book series is one of the greatest publishing sensations of all time, with more than 100 million copies sold to date.  Fans have fallen in love with the characters and are eager to see them translated onscreen," explains Suzi Weiss- Fischmann, OPI Co-founder & brand ambassador.  "The collection captures the mood, feelings and emotions of this film with assorted hues of gray, ranging from glittering and gleaming silvers to cool gray cremes to dark charcoal.  The collection also features a rich red creme to represent passion."

"Color is so much more than something to  admire.  The colors we choose to wear represent our personalities, our moods, our feelings," continues Weiss-Fischmann.  "The collection bottles the film's passion, luxury, and power in six beautiful nail lacquers ideal for expressing sensuality through beauty," according to the press release.

This limited edition OPI collection includes the following shades:

Romantically Involved: a deep burnt red creme.  [I'm in a deep relationship with this luscious creme red]

My Silk Tie: a metallic chrome silver.   I was very pleased with how smoothly this applied.  Also, there were zero brush strokes, which are usually apparent in metallic polish colors of this nature. [This silky, gleaming silver has got me all tied up]

Cement the Deal: a light dove gray. The lightest shade of gray in this collection. [I'd sign anything to get my hands on this stony, cool gray]

Embrace the Gray: a true elephant gray. A medium shade of gray in this collection. [Let this chic, moody gray creme become one with you]

Dark Side of the Mood: a dark graphite gray.  The darkest shades of gray in the collection.  [This brooding, stormy charcoal is dangerously gorgeous]

Shine for Me: a metallic silver with small blue glitter flecks in it. [This shimmering silver with subtle blue sparkle really turns me on!]

(all swatches shown are 2 coats; with photos taken outside in natural light to depict the colors accurately).

I really enjoyed this collection.  Fist of all, I was a fan of the book series when it first came out.  Secondly,  I don't think one can ever have too many shades to gray in their polish arsenal.  I thought I owned a lot of grays, but when I compared them to this collection, they leaned more towards the greige (gray/beige) category.

Being a fan of the books myself I think OPI did an excellent job of curating a color palette that truly symbolizes the book franchise.  It goes without saying the collection can't be made of only gray colors, so I really like the fact OPI played around with dimension and texture, throwing in a metallic and glitter to the mix.

The formula on each was great,  providing a smooth and easy application in two coats.  My personal favorites include: Cement the Deal, and Embrace the Gray.

As I mentioned before, this collection is limited edition, and wont be around for long.  Each lacquer retails for $9.50, and  is available now at professional salons, ULTA, and other fine retailers.

For more information on OPI, check out their website: http://www.opi.com/

And for those who can't wait till Valentine's Day for the Fifty Shades film, enjoy the trailer in the meantime:

Zoya Naturel Satins 2015 Transitional Collection Review

Zoya Naturel Satins 2015 Transitional Collection Review 0

Hey guys, I hope you've all had a wonderful week.

Today I've got the latest from Zoya to share with you.  A new transitional collection to help go from winter to spring has arrived, Naturel Satins, featuring 6 new satin finish shades that are said to be a "beautiful hybrid between matte and glossy polishes! The new Zoya Satin* formula provides opaque coverage and is wears much longer than traditional matte shades. Plus, the forgiving smooth finish hides imperfections! Now that is what we call a great new nail polish" according to the press release.

Also to mention, this collection is not intended to be warn with a glossy topcoat.  I don't mind this at all, because it saves me both time and product.  A win win!

The Naturel Satins 2015 Transitional Collection includes:

Leah: a pale gray with a hint of lavender. (lavender tinged taupe)

Brittany: a pale dusty mauve. (rose mauve creme)

Tove: a true elephant gray. (misty slate gray)

Sage: a dusty mint sage green. (mossy sage green)

Rowan: a light beige-y taupe. (suede taupe creme)

Ana: a pale carnation pink. (light toasted almond creme)

(all swatches shown here are two coats without any top coat.)

I am honestly OBSESSED with this collection; as is my girlfriend whose hands I used to model the swatches.  First off I think the color palette is Excellent, there's nothing I would add or change.  Second, I really love the notion that this is a transitional collection, intended to aid us as the weather and our environments change;  I think it's an excellent idea.

Thirdly, I am a big fan of this new Satin formula Zoya has introduced.  Not quite as matte as I initially anticipated, but still a very pleasant and novel effect.  I have tried many other matte polishes before from various brands, and found them to be streaky, with a tough application that was uneven and messy.  I found the formula on these to be great; each painting on smoothly and effortlessly in two coats, with zero brush strokes.

I highly recommend this collection for everyone, whether you are a salon owner, nail tech, or just a nail polish junkie.  In any case you really can't go wrong with these 6 beauties.

The Naturel Satin 2015 Transitional collection is available now, and retails for $9 per .5 fl oz (15ml) bottle.

Gelish Mini- Cinderella Spring 2015 Collection Review

Gelish Mini- Cinderella Spring 2015 Collection Review 0

"This spring will be filled with magic and fantastical colors as Gelish MINI introduces the Cinderella 2015 collection.  Celebrating Walt Disney Pictures' release of the new live-action Cinderella, the collection showcases a unique palette inspired by the movie to spark anyone's fancy.  With six whimsical creme to sparkly shades and a trio of glitters from the TRENDS line, any pick is perfect to accent this season with charm and grace"  according to the press release.

CEO and Creator of Gelish, Danny Haile says, "For this classic story, we really wanted to create an iconic selection.  Drawing inspiration from the movie, we were inspired to develop colors and statement glitters in soft, playful shades for the collection."

The 6 main colors from the Cinderella Collection include:

Watch Your Step, Sister!: a vibrant magenta pink creme.

My Carriage Awaits: a peachy coral with subtle fine pink shimmer up close.

Party at the Palace: a Tiffany aqua blue with shimmer.

If the Slipper Fits: an icy blue with iridescent and holo glitters.  A very unique shade.  This reminds me most of Cinderella in the collection, and happens to be my favorite shade.  Required three coats to make it opaque.

Ella of a Girl: a strawberry pink milkshake creme.

Live Like There's No Midnight: a deep blue with fine micro purple shimmer.

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, unless stated otherwise).

And the three new TRENDS shades include:

Make it Fit: multi colored glitter in a clear base.

A Moment of Magic: mostly yellow gold glitter, with some white and pink glitter bits mixed in, all in a clear base.

Stepsisters Rule!: mostly red glitter, with some magenta and holo glitters mixed in, all in a clear base.  This shade is Perfect for Valentine's Day.

(all TRENDS swatches are three coats to show color accurately).

Overall I think Gelish did an excellent job of curating a collection that embodies the classic fairy tale.  There is honestly something in this collection for everyone.  Some of the colors are highly unique, like If the Slipper Fits, but some are also just okay, like Ella of a Girl; I must have reviewed at least 6 other gel polishes that look like this.  Nonetheless, I am a huge fan of the shimmer in a lot of the colors, like Party at the Palace, and Live Like There's No Midnight; it provides depth and dimension to the colors.

As far as the TRENDS are concerned, I think they're great.  Layered they can be amazing on their own, or used as a top coat over another color, for some extra added oomph and pizzazz.

My personal favorites include: If the Slipper Fits, Stepsisters Rule!, I'll Make it Fit, and Party at the Palace.

Now that I have played around with this collection, I can't wait to see the film when it comes out March 13th.

In the meantime, this Cinderella collection of Gelish MINI's will be available for a limited time starting in February, and will be available at Sally Beauty Stores.  They retail for $11.95 per .3 fl oz (9mL) bottle.

For more information on Gelish, check them out online: http://gelishmini.com/

And until the film comes out, enjoy the trailer:

Rescue Beauty Lounge x Refinery 29 Review

Rescue Beauty Lounge x Refinery 29 Review 0

Happy Friday Everyone!

It is very rare that I ever get as excited as I am to review this collection, a passion collaborative effort between Rescue Beauty Lounge and beauty lifestyle website Refinery 29.  In a society where we are inundated with collaborations, XYZ for Target, This person for Kohls, That person for H&M, even Oprah has beverages at Starbucks, this project is different.  I truly feel the passion and labor of love that went behind the making of this collection and the hues that comprise it.  Ji Baek, owner and creative genius behind Rescue Beauty, worked tirelessly with each of the 7 departments that make up Refinery 29, going back and fourth, with Pinterest mood boards, trying to perfect each and every color.  What's the result? An awesome and highly unique 7 hued collection.

According to Ji, "

"Introducing our first ever collaboration outside of the ReBeL community bubble.
We paired up with the ever-clever, witty folks behind my daily obsession –Refinery29. I like to think I’ve earned a doctorate on making people’s dream colors come true. My dissertation was the past two The Bloggers’ collections as well as The Fan Collection. I even had a slightly mean-girlish thought: For real, I mean, what do you non-lacquer heads know (except maybe the beauty department) about nail polish? I thought I was going to sail away with this collaboration. But of course, I should’ve known, that dark shadow “karma” took a huge bite out of my *ss because I jinxed myself with my smugness and judgments.
The moment our union commenced, the seven Refinery29 teams submitted their dream color inspirational boards. My head spun! I’ve never mixed so many colors IN MY LIFE!"

The Rescue Beauty x Refinery 29 Collection includes:

Sunny Skies (Wellness): a bright aqua creme with teal undertones.

"R29 wellness helps women to live their best, most energetic and healthful lives. We chose a vibrant seafoam green because we felt it evokes health, excitement, and serenity.”-Refinery29 Health and Wellness Team

Elvis in the Cloud (Tech): a metallic coppery bronze.  Seems to have slight duo chrome properties; the color tends to shift with the light's reflection.

“The copper surfaced as a significant base color for our team, due to its theoretical consistency with our technical backgrounds and mindsets: its historical significance as an electrical conductor.”- Refinery29 Tech Team

Galaxy Glue (Creative): a pearly teal blue.  A very unique color.  Has almost a subtle beige/brown shimmer running through it in certain light.

“At any given moment, the way you're seeing metallic or opalescent is changing. Depending on the angle you're looking at it, the way the light is hitting it, what the reflective surface it is picking up, you never experience the colors the same way twice.” –Refinery29 Creative Team

Pretty Gritty (Beauty): a medium purple with gold shimmer. Almost a One Coat Wonder.  Incredibly pigmented.

"Right now we're drawn to moody shades of purple (sorry radiant orchid, but we like our purple a bit more roughed up) warmed up with golden, bronzy undertones.” –Refinery29 Beauty Team

Bubblegum Punk (News): a magical iridescent diamond shimmer in a clear base.  Slightly on the sheer side, with some visible nail line showing through.  I never in a million years thought I would like this color, let alone become obsessed with it.  At first glance I thought it looked like Christmas winter glitter, but boy was I wrong.  This color is so stunning in person.  After taking all the swatch pictures, I immediately painted my nails this color, and its the shade I am donning as I pen this review.

“Our team truly values its spunk and pizzazz, and for that we loved the idea of color with glitz and glamour. Our nails need to feel right at home at the Lady Gaga concert AND in line for the latest iPhone.” -Refinery29 News Team

Better Than Boyfriend Jeans (Shopping): a very pale light blue with gray undertones.  I was very surprised and impressed with the formula of this shade.  In my experience, light blues are very difficult to work with, being sheer, extremely patchy and requiring three coats.  Not this!

"An effortless ode to everyone’s favorite clothing item: the jean. ‘Boyfriend Blue’ is a color that feels fresh, relaxed, and energetic all at once. No one’s closet is complete without a pair, or two, or ten.” -Refinery29 Shopping Team

All About Yves (Fashion): a cobalt blue jelly.  Very eye catching and fashion forward.

"Not girly, but not tomboyish either, it's got that magical "It" quality that'll look good on a purse, on a coat, and on your fingertips.”-Refinery29 Fashion Team

(all swatches shown here are two coats, taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

Overall I am very impressed with this collaborative collection.  I am a hugely passionate about nail polish and color, it's what initially got me interested in nails in the first place.  But with so many major corporate brands introducing countless collections year round, that all sort of resemble each other after a while, this collection serves as a well deserved respite.

For me, reading the back story behind creating each color is as magical as the colors themselves.  You see and can feel the hard work that went into making it.  I have heard from multiple sources that in creating new polish collections, major nail brands simply consult with a laboratory that gives them a color sheet of pre-made colors to select from.  There is zero creativity or input involved in the process.

This to me is what truly sets Rescue Beauty apart.  Every color Ji introduces to the line is formulated and re-formulated many times over until the color is just right;  a true labor of love, and its well reflected in the brand and its unique shades.

All Rescue Beauty polishes are 5 free.  As far as the formulas are concerned, each of the colors I found to be well pigmented, and painted on smoothly and effortlessly in two coats.  My personal favorites include: Bubblegum Punk, Galaxy Glue, and Better Than Boyfriend Jeans.

The Rescue Beauty Lounge x Refinery 29 Collection is available now and retails for $20 each for .4 fl oz, and is available for purchase exclusively on their website: http://www.rescuebeauty.com/

Also, make sure to check out this amazing post http://blog.rescuebeauty.com/rbl/r29-rescue-beauty-lounge/ to read full details on the collaborative efforts that went into concocting each color in this collection!!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

Vitamin Nail Strengther- Gelish Vitagel Review

Vitamin Nail Strengther- Gelish Vitagel Review 0

Hey everyone.  Happy Hump Day!! I hope you are all doing fantastic.

I am very excited to introduce two revolutionary products from Gelish.  Introducing VitaGel, the world's first ever light cured (either UV or LED) vitamin enriched soak- off gel designed to strengthen and grow your natural nails.  Say goodbye to chips, splits, and peeling nails, and hello to stronger, healthier, more beautiful natural nails.

If you or your clients are anything like me, constantly changing their nails, damage inevitably sets in at some point.  Despite the meticulous and extensive good care I take of my nails, because I am a blogger changing my nails on average 4 times a week, sometimes more, my nails take a very harsh beating.  Because I also see clients, I typically avoid wearing nail polish on my fingers, and stick with soak off gel; coming in contact with as much polish remover as I do certainly doesn't help maintain my manicures.

There is now finally an answer to this problem.

The folks at Gelish have created VitaGel, a vitamin enriched soak-off nail strengthener gel in two unique formulas.  Both are designed to promote conditioning of the natural nail for healthy and stronger nails, while helping manicures last longer and free from chips.  VitaGel is said to help maintain a gel manicure for 14-21 days, and a polish manicure for up to 10 days!!

I've put both formulas to the test now for a week, one on each hand. I applied a thin layer and cured for 30 seconds in an LED lamp.  I then painted my nails with nail polish.

STRENGTH: is made to help maintain natural nails.  According to the press release, "Enriched with Vitamins A,E, & B5 to provide much needed nutrients to promote healthy nails.  Designed to nourish and strengthen the natural nail.  Helps gel polish and nail lacquer resist chipping for extended wear."

RECOVERY: is made for thin and damaged nails.  " All the benefits of STRENGTH in a more concentrated formula for added durability.  When applied on a weekly basis, fortifies and strengthens the natural nail to counteract stress and increase flexibility," according to the press release.

It's been a little over a week and I must say I am highly impressed with how my nails look and feel.  Although yes there is some polish chipping, as evidenced in the pictures, I find it minimal, especially considering how much I use my hands.  This week alone I have traveled on location to do nails on sets, I've done multiple clients' nails, cleaned my own house, and scrubbed my dishes. In general I am pretty hard on my nails and hands.  Combined with the fact my nails see a lot of damage from all the product testing I have to do for the blog, I am really impressed with VitaGel.

I have been applying the STRENGTH formula to a couple of clients of mine, and they too claim they notice less chips in their manicure.

I personally saw less chipping and more physical strength in my nails with the RECOVERY formula.  Although both VitaGels are great, I personally found the added extra strength from the RECOVERY formula more reassuring.

Overall, I think both VitaGel formulas are great, but if you have to chose just one, I recommend RECOVERY.

Gelish MINI VitaGel are available now for $20.99 each on SallyBeauty.com.

“I’m in love with Incoco”

“I’m in love with Incoco” 0

Hey guys! I hope you all had a fabulous weekend.

Today I've got some great and easy-to-use nail wraps to share from Incoco.  Made of 100% real nail lacquer, these wraps are no drug store sticker.

According to the company, "Incoco Nail Lacquer Appliques are made of 100% real nail lacquer- not stickers.  The formula contains built-in base, color and top coats that go on dry for a high-speed application that lasts up to 2 weeks.  Say goodbye to dry time, smudges, and streaks.  Incoco is the creator of real nail lacquer appliques and offers an extensive collection of bold, vibrant, nail art shades and designs."

My Incoco appliques arrived just in time for New Years.  I didn't know what to do for my fun festive nails, until a knock on my door and the mail man handed me a delivery.  Much to my surprise, my package of Incoco wraps arrived, and they featured the most perfect applique for New Years, featuring: 2015, fireworks, top hats, gold, glitter, and glamour.  Needless to say my nails were a major hit of the evening, receiving countless complements.

I found the Incoco appliques very easy to work with and apply.  They weren't fussy or too flimsy, as I have experienced with other brands.  I found the pre-measured sizes fit well, especially considering my nail beds are much larger than most women.  There was zero drying time,  absolutely no harsh chemical smell, or any smell really for that matter, and I was ready to go within seconds.

I have tried appliques from many other companies on the market, ranging from salon quality to local drug store, but I find that they do not work nearly half as well as the Incoco ones do.

Also please keep in mind that Incoco offers tons of different designs on their site.  Here is only a small sampling of what they have to offer.

If you are considering nail art, or wish to experiment with your comfort zone/ look, especially now that it's a fresh brand new year, I highly recommend you pick up some Incoco nail appliques for yourself and give them a try.

I've also included a link to an application video so you can see how honestly easy these are to work with.

"Retreat to the peaceful harmony of nature with the new Spring 2015 Flora & Fauna collection from CND. Colors and styles are inspired by watercolor impressions of luminous landscapes.

“This season’s trends are all about unplugging from today’s digital world and embracing the simpler things. Sun-bleached tones and dreamy watercolor paintings emerge from the perfection of nature,” says CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “Nails are easy and softly squared – as wearable and simple as a barefoot stroll through the grass while finishes play with matte and shiny effects” according to the press release.

There are 8 new shades in Vinylux, six of which are part of the new Flora & Fauna Collection, and two are being released, Thistle Thicket and Blush Teddy, which were both previously released in the Shellac line.

The Vinylux Flora & Fauna Collection includes:

Dandelion: a pearlized peach/pink shimmer.  Has a pearlized golden sheen running through it.  Slightly on the sheer- streaky side.  Required three coats to even out the brushstrokes.  I wish the formula was a little better because I really love this color.

Salmon Run: a salmon pink creme with peach undertones.  Also on the streaky/patchy side.  Required three coats.

Creekside: a powdery pastel baby blue creme.  I Love this shade.

Field Fox: a neutral creme taupe with mauve undertones.  A gorgeous year round color in my opinion!

Wild Moss: a medium mossy green with micro silver shimmer specks. The silver specks give this shade an almost texturized look, although it's not a texture polish.

Fragrant Freesia: a pale peony pink with iridescent pink/purple shimmer running through it.

Now the two shades being introduced to the Vinylux line, but not necessarily part of the Flora & Fauna Collection.

Thistle Thicket: a very pale lavender gray.

Blush Teddy: a creamy light pink rose with a slight shimmer.  Reminds me of a strawberry milkshake.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, unless stated otherwise)

The Flora & Fauna Shellac collection includes the same six new shades as mentioned and shown above, with the exception of Thistle Thicket & Blush Teddy, both of which are already available in Shellac.

I really enjoyed this collection as a whole.  I find the colors to be very refreshing and going back to a place of Earthy nature.  I was a little disappointed in the formula on a couple of the Vinylux shades.  I have never had issues in the past with any Vinylux, so I am not sure if it's these particular colors, or if I happened to receive a  poorly mixed batch.   On the other hand, I had zero issues with the Shellac shades, so if you are still interested in those particular shades I had difficulty with in Vinlyux, I would recommend you skip those and get the Shellac version of the color instead.  My personal favorites include: Creekside, Field Fox, and Dandelion.

The CND Flora & Fauna Collection for Spring 2015 is available now for a limited time.

CND Additives- Flora & Fauna Collection Spring 2015

"Retreat to the peaceful harmony of nature with the new Spring 2015 Flora & Fauna collection from CND. Colors and styles are inspired by watercolor impressions of luminous landscapes.

“This season’s trends are all about unplugging from today’s digital world and embracing the simpler things. Sun-bleached tones and dreamy watercolor paintings emerge from the perfection of nature,” says CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “Nails are easy and softly squared – as wearable and simple as a barefoot stroll through the grass while finishes play with matte and shiny effects,” according to the official press release.

CND's Additives are in my opinion one of their most versatile and innovative products to date.  They can be used in so many different creative ways, the possobilites are literally endless.  They can be blended with nail polish, acrylic powder, or gel (my personal favorite).  I personally love to do ombre fades with them over gel polish.  For the pro's out there, CND's site offers tons of wonderful step-by-steps on very cool creative looks you can achieve with them; check it out here: http://www.cnd.com/pro-products/enhancements/additives/additives

CND Flora & Fauna Additives Collection includes:

Hydrangea Bloom: a glistening light blue with silver shimmer undertones. (pigment effect)

Dream Lily: a fine holographic pink glitter.  It truly pops in person, and looks amazing when layered onto darker shades. (glitter)

Nectar Glaze: a glistening light pink with silver shimmer undertones.  Think of this as the pink alternative to "Hydrangea Bloom". (pigment effect)

Silver Ponyfoot: a shimmering silver gunmetal. (pigment effect)

Hummingbird: a fine iridescent glitter, that reflects shades of green and pink.  When layered over white you get a very snowy Holiday effect, but when you layer it over black, or a dark color, the magic really starts to happen.  Hands down my most favorite in the collection!  It is so gorgeous in person.  I would personally buy the entire kit just to get this shade alone.

(all swatches are shown on either a white or black gel background to demonstrate different effects).

As you all well know I am a Huge huge fan of CND's Additives, and this latest limited edition offering is no different.  I personally am obsessed with CND's Additives, and if you haven't ever tried them for yourself, I highly recommend you find your local distributor and get some.

New from Azature

New from Azature 0

Hey guys.  Happy Thursday!! It's almost the weekend, so hold on just a little longer.

In the meantime, I've got some fun gorgeous new shades to share with you from Azature- the only polish in the world that features a real black diamond in every bottle.

I've got four sumptuous shades to share with you all:

Santorini Diamond: a deep teal shimmer.  It is incredibly pigmented.  I had complete coverage in a single coat.  What I like to call a "One Coat Wonder"!! ["This shade is inspired by the Santorini diamond.  Like the luxurious gleam of the Aegean Sea, this blue is perfect for Summer."]

Glacier Diamond: iridescent holographic glitter bars in a clear base.  It removed easily, which is always a plus with glitters.  It can be worn alone, or I layered it over a coat of black for a truly magical effect.  ["this shade is inspired by the glacier diamond.  This icy tone brings a bold shimmer with majestic depth."]

Rose Gold Diamond: a perfect foil warm metallic bronzey rose gold.  Incredibly pigmented.  Covered perfectly in a single coat.  A very rare shade.  I highly recommend it! The finish wasn't streaky at all.  The best rose gold shade of polish I have ever seen on the market!  ["This shade is inspired by the rose gold diamond.  This versatile metallic is warm, flattering and offers a glowing alternative to silver and gold."]

Boudoir Diamond: a deep midnight black with a micro fine shimmer to it.  The most highly pigmented black based polish I have ever come across! Complete coverage in a single coat.  Flawless! A true "One Coat Wonder"  It's the most gorgeous, elegant, sophisticated black polish I have ever encountered.  ["This shade is inspired by the boudoir diamond.  This tough, coal-black gets a feminine edge with a subtle dose of sparkle."]

(all swatches shown here are two coats).

Overall I am very pleased with these four shades.  I found them incredibly pigmented, with many of them being "One Coat Wonders".  Between the unique beautiful packaging and the fact there is a black diamond in every bottle is enough to make these polishes truly stand out and outshine their competitors.  If you haven't picked up a few bottles of Azature Black Diamond Nail Lacquer for your home or salon I highly suggest you do.
