Essie Neon 2015 Collection Review

Essie Neon 2015 Collection Review 0

"Introducing Essie Neon 2015 Collection: Music festivals are the perfect place to showcase your edgiest looks.  And what goes better with wristbands than shades- of polish, of course? So, get ready to make your stylish mark and stand out in the crowd with street style-ready, eye catching essie neons.

Essie's six new shades of neon boost your fashion quotient with amped color that hits the perfect note of self- assured chic.  Rave- worthy pink and turned-up electric blue create major impact, while ridiculously haute neon lime and it-girl magenta command attention in the stands.  So, polish up and let the festival season begin" according to the press release.

The Essie Neon 2015 Collection includes the following shades-

Make Some Noise: a deep aqua marine blue creme.  Provided great coverage in even one coat. [raucous electric blue]

Vibrant Vibes: a bright lime green creme.  Also had excellent coverage in a single coat, which is supremely rare for polishes this color.  [vivid neon lime]

Groove is in the Heart: a peony pink creme.  [peachy pink neon]

All Access Pass: a majestic grape purple creme.  [boho violet indigo]

Coacha'bella: a vibrant fuchsia creme.  [it-girl molten magenta]

Melody Maker: a bold green leaning teal creme.  [deep lyrical teal]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light.)

I have noticed some fellow nail bloggers have gotten into a rather tizzy over this collection for they claim its not truly Neon.  Yes, I agree it's not a conventional neon collection, however, I think the term "neon" is simply a matter of semantics.  In my humble opinion, I view this collection as being bold, bright, definitely festival inspired and ready, and perfect for the summer.  Regardless of whether its neon or not doesn't necessarily matter, the colors are still great and had an excellent formula.

Typically with neon colors you need to apply a white base before hand in order to make the colors really pop.  This collection doesn't require that at all, saving you tons of time and product.

I found the formula painted on smoothly and evenly, and that almost all of the shades were very heavily pigmented and saturated with color- which I Love.

My personal favorites include: Vibrant Vibes, Coacha'bella, and Make Some Noise

The Essie Neon 2015 Collection retails for $8.50 per 0.46 fl oz (13.5 ml) bottle, and will be available beginning this month.

Essie Summer 2015 Collection review

Essie Summer 2015 Collection review 0

"Introducing essie summer 2015 collection: Unleash your inner beach goddess with essie's stunning summer 2015 collection. Inspired by the season's molten days that stretch into fun-filled nights, essie's fresh new palette presents six shades that put a new spin on summer color.

Tuned up and plugged in, these vibrant shades fuse striking punch-brights with a razor-sharp edge and a touch of cool that's distinctively essie.  Each shade's unique sensibility and subtle wit make it easy to experiment with color, mix it up and play.  So head to the water's edge to soak up the sun and the scene with sizzling new colors!" according to the press release.

The Essie Summer 2015 Collection includes:

Private Weekend: a pina colada white creme with a fine subtle shimmer running through it.  [sparkling crisp white]

Chillato: a mellow chartreuse creme.  Leans more on the yellow side then green.  [frozen cream pistachio]

Peach Side Babe: a vibrant peach creme with warm coral undertones.  [sun-ripe preach]

Sunset Sneaks: a neon fire red with bold bright pink undertones.  Was richly pigmented.  I had complete coverage in one coat.  [bright energetic crimson]

Saltwater Happy: a periwinkle blue creme.  Also well pigmented.  I had complete coverage in a single coat. [sugar-sweet Atlantic blue]

Pret-a-Surfer: a cornflower blue creme.  Was also highly pigmented.  Full coverage in 1 coat.  A 1 coat wonder!! [immersive marine blue]

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight.)

I am really impressed and super happy with this latest collection from Essie.  I think they definitely nailed it on the head with the color palette this season.  In my opinion, it's not necessarily that the colors are all super unique, however they all go together beautifully, and are shades I most definitely see clients requesting time and time again.

I found the formulas on all of the shades to be quite great and very easy to work with.  I want to point out a few of the shades there were complete Superstars in my opinion, that literally painted on as smooth as butter: Pret-a-surfer, Saltwater Happy, & Sunset Sneaks.

I highly recommend you pick up this collection once it hits stores.

My personal favorites include: Chillato, Sunset Sneaks, and Pret-a-Surfer

Essie Summer 2015 Collection retails for $8.50 per 0.46 fl oz (13.5 ml) bottle, and will be starting in June 2015.

Tweezerman Implements

Tweezerman Implements 0

Hi guys.  I hope all is well.

Fellow nail techs always ask me what implements I use for my services, and I am finally going to share that with you all.

I use all Tweezerman implements.  They are excellent quality, very trustworthy, non destructible, and easy to sanitize and keep client.

Some of the products I'm going to share with you include:

Regency Finish Collection Fingernail Clipper: the stunning laser-etched pattern is 100% sanitizable and easily clips fingernails with ultra-precise blades and ultimate performance.

Regency Finish Collection Toenail Combo Clipper: this combo clipper and case feature an extra sturdy super sharp blades for clipping toenails with perfect precision.  The removable case is designed to catch clippings for easy throw away and clean up and is shaped for comfort and easy handling. $12

I love these clippers especially for the removable case that collects all of the clippings.  I hate when you walk into a salon and you see discarded nail clippings all over the place- super gross! There are no excuses with this one!

Pushy and Nail Cleaner (Stainless Steel): 2-in-1 nail tool combines our famous Pushy cuticle pusher with a convenient nail cleaner.  Super-thin edges are buffed smooth to prevent scratching while the textured body provides a perfectly secure grip. $18

I use this little tool particularly to clean under my clients nail beds, and it gets into the tiny grooves with no issues!

Half Moon Pushy and Curette: half-moon shaped pushy is contoured to tenderly push back cuticles without scraping the natural nail. The reverse end of the tool features a curette designed especially for cleaning edges and tight corners where polish and debris hide, particularly essential in aiding the removal of gel polish that can remain on the nail after soaking.

I use this gadget for removing all dead skin and excess cuticles from the nail plate.  It is gentle enough that it doesn't scratch the nail plate whatsoever, and it works Wonders with pedicures too.

Eco Friendly File: for medium sanding on acrylic nails and for filing edge on natural nails. 100% biodegradable. $3.50

Premium Emory Board: pack of 5 thin wood files.  Ultra durable. ($5 for 5  files)

Sansation Nail File: reinforced center for durability and strength.  Durable, washable and sanitizable. $4

I really like the shape of the files, and love the fact that some of them are washable and can be reused.

Ingrown Toenail File and Cleaner: after you soak and while nails are soft, gently slide either end of file under ingrown to lift nail- choose the flat or curved end depending on shape of nail. To file away ingrowns, slide file side under lifted area and slowly pull file out to thin the under-surface of the nail and relieve pressure. $14

I am personally very fortunate that I do not come in contact with many clients suffering from ingrowns, but when I do encounter them on occasion, this tool gets the job done!

Grip N' Snip Spiral Spring Cuticle Nipper: features a spiral spring for the ultimate in style, comfort and control. The looped handle maximizes precision and provides a no-slip grip, while the opening and closing action is ultra-safe and smooth. $25

Rockhard Cuticle Nipper: the sturdy design of this nipper is reinforced by its rock-hard, stainless steel construction.  Features sharp, long-lasting snipping tips for smooth cutting.  Great to take to the nail salon. 1/4 jaw. $26

If your only going to invest in 1 pair of nippers, I highly recommend the Spiral Spring ones.  I know the shape seems a bit odd at first, but let me tell you, don't be fooled by the shape.  This bad boy cuts like no other, and the spiral spring is so revolutionary, I don't know how I used traditional cuticle nippers prior!  The shape is so sturdy, and aerodynamic, it just feels so right when its in your hand.

and last but not least,

Sapphire Crystal Foot File: features tiny, abrasive sapphire-ceramic crystals fixed to an easy to clean stainless steel handle and uses the latest, advanced surface technology to provide maximum abrasivity for the ultimate in comfort and efficiency.  Created to withstand frequent sterilization by autoclave or hot-air devices, as well as spray or liquid disinfectants. $38

I can not perform a pedicure without this!  It is textured on both sides, with one side being significantly more coarse than the other.  I haven't had to use a chemical callus treatment on any of my clients since I started using this.  I can even perform dry pedicures without water and as long as I use this foot file my clients feet are baby soft like butter.

New KBShimmer’s for Summer 2015

New KBShimmer’s for Summer 2015 0

I know a lot of you and your clients are accustomed to particular nail brands, but I would like to compel you to consider branching out and give something new & different a try; change can be rather refreshing.

Support the indie brands too people!! KBShimmer is a wonderful indie beauty company, and I have recently become a MAJOR fan of their polishes.  The colors they concoct are incredibly unique, and the formulas are insanely amazing & wonderful.

Today I will share with you all a few shades from KBShimmer's latest Summer 2015 collection.

Look on the Nightside: teal/purple hybrid color shifting flakie.  It is densely packed.  Amazing coverage in two coats.

Sun & Games: holographic fine gold glitter.  Densely packed, and covered completely in two coats.

We be Jammin': beautiful magenta berry with iridescent blue shimmer running through it.

Foiled: multi- dimensional pale gold.  I call it a "white gold".  It is so stunning in person. This shade is my absolute favorite!!

Take the Punny & Run: cranberry/green/gold hybrid flakie.  Also has amazing pigmentation, and solid coverage in two coats.  The color is so gorgeous in person, it reminds me of a scarab wing.

Sterling Example: sterling silver glitter flakie.  Densely packed.  Provided great coverage.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

Now that you have seen the colors, hopefully you can share in my excitement regarding just how amazing they truly are!

The formulas on all of the shades was remarkable and a dream to work with.  None of the flakies or the glitters required me to perform any special application or trick in order to gain complete coverage with minimal coats.

Also worth noting is how easy the flakies removed!! This is a major major Plus in my book ! 🙂

All of the KBShimmer polishes featured here retail between $8.75- $10.75 per .5 fl oz (15ml) bottle, and are available for purchase now at:  https://www.kbshimmer.com/

The latest from ENP

The latest from ENP 0

Hey guys!

I've got some new exciting products and major changes from the folks over at ENP Nail Design.

They recently underwent a major repackaging of their products, and I am really pleased with the outcome.

New Labels: the packaging has undergone a major transformation.  The bottles used to be black..  Now they are white, and feature a colored handle, so you can better see the color that is in the bottle.  Both myself and my customers prefer this new packaging.

New Matchables: the Matchables include both a gel polish and a coordinating 5-chemical free nail lacquer, so for any clients who prefer to have matching hands and feet, now you can do so with great ease.  Featured in this post are Matchables in Red Carpet (glittering ruby red) and Ice Princess (a light lavender cream).

New No Wipe Top Coat: the new no wipe soak -off gel top coat is a dream come true in my opinion.  It cures for 30-60 seconds in LED, or 2-3 mins in UV.  First of all, it is super shiny, like a sparkling diamond.  Secondly, the fact that you don't have to wipe the dispersion layer when finished is a major time savor, especially when you are booked with clients back to back.  I am obsessed with this product, and highly recommend you all pick up a bottle for yourselves.

Alessandro International Spring 2015 Sunday Rose Collection Review

Alessandro International Spring 2015 Sunday Rose Collection Review 0

"SUNDAY ROSE In Love with Spring... International runways and the fashion universe promise a magical spring awakening for 2015.  The big fashion trend is "intense pastels" and alessandro International brings you highly concentrated yet soft colors, both warm and cool, making every look flatteringly fresh and pretty, like an enchanted spring bouquet.

Who doesn't look forward to the first signs of spring after a long winter? Delicate hues and rosy freshness awaken the desire for everything new.  With its new line of nail colors: Sunday Rose for a spring look, alessandro International turns spring awakening into a dreamlike romantic rendezvous.

The Sunday Rose line is a new interpretation of classic pastel tones in more sophisticated yet, expressive colors.  And these flamboyant heavenly hues with ices pastel notes will take you in the loveliest and most feminine fairytale adventure this season.

As a highlight, our magic top coat "Euphoria" creates a rose- golden glitter effect resembling spring-like dew.  Fine, multi-sparkling sequins encourage you to try out countless variations when applying it.  Apply as a color accent on the nail tip, a complete nail color, or as a final top coat over your favorite hue, and  voila: fairytale euphoria guaranteed!" according to the press release.

The Spring 2015 Sunday Rose Collection includes:

Pastel Mint: a sage mint green creme with a slight shimmer running through it.

Happy Coral: a terracotta coral creme.

Euphoria: various sized coppery glitter particles and fine shimmer in a clear base.  I just used a single coat of this, and yet you can see how densely packed it is with glitters and shimmers.

Tender Rose: a light carnation pink creme.

Sunday Blue: a cornflower blue creme with purple undertones; a blurple shade if you will.  A 1 coat wonder!! Had incredible coverage in a single coat.

Apricot Touch: an apricot peach creme.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

This was my very first experience of ever working with Alessandro Internaitonal, and I must say I am highly impressed.  I found the quality of the polish to be quite excellent, the formula painted on smoothly and evenly, and I found the colors to be highly pigmented.

I really enjoy the simplicity and directness of the polish names.  Some brands get a little too carried away in my opinion in their polish naming process.

Also worth mentioning is the bottle cap's design, I found it be to very unique and also amazing. It sits beautifully in the hand, allowing one to paint with impeccable ease.

The Sunday Rose collection from Alessandro International will be available starting in April 2015.

Rescue Beauty Lounge Spring 2015 Pt. II Review

Rescue Beauty Lounge Spring 2015 Pt. II Review 0

Hey guys.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

Today I've got part 2 of Rescue Beauty Lounge's Spring 2015 Collection Je t'aime! Je t'aime! to share with you all.  If you haven't read my first review featuring this collection, check it out here: http://www.merricures.com/blog/rescue-beauty-lounge-spring-2015-review/

I have the two brand new shades to share with you all to round out this collection.

Combien?: a pale yellow gold pearlized shimmer.  Nicely pigmented.  Painted on smoothly and evenly.  [possibly the most important French word to ask when you shop- it means: "How Mucg?" Elegant and neutral, this beige gold with a slight rose cast is not too shy to ask how much.  Combien is jammed-packed with sugary shimmer, but dries down to a matte for a tasteful glam.  Add a swipe of topcoat to amp up the bling factor.]

Trois Oignons Rouges: a vibrant magenta jelly.  Well pigmented color that built up beautifully in just two coats.  [Like the insides of red onions, this color is a cross between magenta and a toned-down fuchsia that dries to a chic matte.]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

I really love both of these colors.  I think they help balance out the rest of the Rescue Beauty Lounge Spring 2015 collection.  I find both of the shades to be highly unique, and the formulas on both was an absolute dream to work with, application could not have been smoother or easier.

Rescue Beauty Lounge nail polish retails for $20 per .4oz (12ml) bottle, and is available exclusively on their website: http://www.rescuebeauty.com/

The essie bridal 2015 collection includes:

Tying the knotie: a semi-sheer ballet slipper pink creme. (sheer floral pink)

Hubby for dessert: a light lilac creme. (sheer candied lilac smooth)

Worth the wait: a pearled peachy pink.  Reminds me almost of the inside of a seashell, very pretty. (coral-kissed pink)

Brides no grooms: highly pigmented bright magenta creme.  A 1 Coat Wonder!! (bachelorette-bright pink)

Brides to be: a creme beige nude. (soft-spoken caramel)

Happy wife happy life: a bright bold cherry red creme. 1 Coat Wonder! Provided excellent coverage. (radiant red orange)

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light.)

I was really pleased with this collection.  I think it is comprised of a beautiful and very tasteful color palette.  I think there is a classic color here for everyone, that could be worn year round for the most part.  I was really impressed with the formulas, and how highly pigmented some of the colors were.  I am surprised however that there was no baby blue shade of sorts in this collection.  Also worth mentioning for the first time with this collection are new bridal-inspired white lace decorated caps- I Love these.  I tried capturing them in images, but it didn't come out quite as I would've liked.

My personal favorites include: Brides to be, Worth the wait, & Brides no grooms

Essie's Bridal 2015 Collection retails at $8.50 per .46 fl oz (13.5ml) bottle and will be available in April 2015 at http://www.essie.com/, fine salons and beauty destinations nationwide.

Hello Pretty! Summer 2015 Collection from Gelish & Morgan Taylor Review

Hello Pretty! Summer 2015 Collection from Gelish & Morgan Taylor Review 0

"Hello Pretty! Summer 2015.  Charming colors that make you stop and stare. Looking to redifine summer style with bright neons packed with a vivacious attitude? No need to fret, Gelish and Morgan Taylor are here to answer the call with their Hello Pretty! Summer 2015 Collection.  With six radiant colors from bright bubblegum pink to candy-coated pastel green, any pick will add an extra layer of pop.

"When we were developing this collection, we wanted to have colors that were powerful and playful," said CEO, Danny Haile.  "We immediately thought of Japanese fashion.  From nail art to street style, every detail is bursting with color and personality.  This collection is packed with vivid colors full of character and distinction and is a must-have for a statement style this season" according to the press release.

The Hello Pretty! Summer 2015 Collection for both Nail Lacquer Morgan Taylor and Gel Polish Gelish include the following shades:

Look at You, Pink-achu!: a bright bubble gum pink creme. (bubblegum pink neon creme)

Tokyo a Go Go: a bold medium purple with slight pink undertones. (light purple neon creme)

Pop-arrazi Pose: a neon watermelon pink creme. (hot pink neon creme)

Do You Harajuku?: a light mint green creme with a subtle shimmer going through it. (mint green creme)

Anime-zing Color!: a bold deep majestic purple creme. (dark purple neon creme)

Manga-round with Me: a hot coral pink creme. (coral neon creme)

(all swatches are two coat, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight.)

I think this is a great collection overall, very pretty and playful.  I really like the fact that the colors pop on their own, without the need of a white base coat, like some other neon shades.  Because they are neon, I highly recommend using a top coat to finish off your look, specifically with the Morgan Taylor nail lacquers.  If you don't use a top coat with these neons, the color can fall somewhat flat.

I didn't experience any issues in application.  All of the polishes and gel polishes applied smoothly and evenly, in two coats.

My personal favorites include: Anime-zing Color!, Manga-round with me, and Do you Harajuku?

The Hello Pretty! Collection from Gelish and Morgan Taylor will be available starting May 2015 at select distributors.

For more information on either brand, check out their respective sites: http://gelish.com/ and http://www.morgantaylorlacquer.com/

KB Shimmer Glitter in Bloom

KB Shimmer Glitter in Bloom 0

Hey guys,  I hope you've all had a great week!

I'm really excited to introduce famed indie polish brand KBShimmer.  KBShimmer was founded in 2008 by a husband and wife team, now how lovely is that?!  Their polishes are all completely unique, and not what you typically find out store shelves.

"KBShimmer unveils SS 2015 collection. Say goodbye to winter's dark hues, embrace sunny skies and open toe shoes with KBShimmer's Spring Summer 2015 collection!

There's nothing better than the first signs of Spring and all the joy that it brings! Our Spring 2015 collection is inspired by sun-kissed days and lush gardens blooming, the Easter season, and Pantone's 2015 spring color , Aquamarine, says KBShimmer owner Christy Rose.  What better way to celebrate that Spring has sprung then with creamy pastels, metallic glitters, and a touch of sparkle and shine?" according to the press release.

The KBShimmer SS 2015 collection is comprised of 12 colors, however I have 3 of  them to share with you, and two sneak peeks at upcoming Summer shades:

Blue-d Lines: blue holographic color.  Incredibly dense.  One of the Best holographic polishes I have ever come across!!! I am personally wearing it on my toes as I type 😉 . (Spring collection)

Sweet Egg-scape: a pale pink with multi-colored shapes and sized glitters... blue stars, red squares, magenta triangles, white hexagons, etc.  I was very surprised and pleased with how easily it removed. (Spring collection)

Meow or Never: a milky white grey with multi-sized glitters in white, cornflower blue, lavender, and purple.  This also removed very easily, especially for a glitter. (Spring collection)

A sneak peek at upcoming Summer shades...

Rum Me the  Right Way: neon yellow creme.  No white base coat needed, which is amazing and very unique from my experience. (Summer collection) Retails for $7.50.

Dust in the Bottle: fine silver holographic shimmer in a clear base.  I personally would't recommend this shade by itself, use it instead as a top coat to add dimension and magic sparkle. (Summer collection)

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light.)

This was my first experience with KBShimmer polishes, and I must say I am rather impressed.  I think the quality of the polishes was excellent.  They were all very highly pigmented, which is a huge plus in my book.  The glitters removed easily, the neon didn't require a white base coat to make it truly pop, and the holographic was truly holographic.

I would definitely recommend picking up some KBShimmer polishes for yourself and giving them a try.

KBShimmer polishes are 3 free, and retail for $8.75, *unless stated otherwise*

For more information on KBShimmer, or to purchase, check them out online: https://www.kbshimmer.com/

CND’s RescueRXx to the rescue!

CND’s RescueRXx to the rescue! 0

DO you have clients whose nails suffer from white spots?  Whose nails suffer from continuous peeling and splitting?  Well the folks over at CND have created a brand new product to help address and correct all of those issues- introducing CND's RescueRXx Daily Keratin Treatment.  This is a revolutionary product in nail repair, that with continued daily use, helps dramatically reduce peeling and white spots.

What is it exactly? Well let me tell you.  "RescueRXx is a keratin treatment designed to repair weakened or damaged nails.  The treatment with jojoba oil and almond oil carries keratin proteins which bond to the natural nail to help strengthen while restoring moisture.  With continued use, RescueRXx dramatically reduces peeling and white spots for healthier, more beautiful nails," according to the press release.

In clinical testing, 80% of people observed improvement after the first week of use.  After four weeks, clinical testing showed a 73% decrease in splitting and 80% decrease in peeling.

The product contains natural keratin, which is sourced from sheep's wool, and is cruelty free.

It is recommended you apply the product twice daily to clean bare natural nails for 1-4 weeks; although partial penetration is said to occur through polish and even gel polish.

There are approximately 160 applications per 1/2oz bottle.

I myself was initially introduced to this product from Jan Arnold, co founder of CND, herself, during the ISSE Beauty Show a couple of months ago, and have been using it regularly ever since.  I can definitely see and feel a significant improvement in my nails.  Do keep in mind I usually have gels on my nails, so I only experienced partial penetration with the product, yet still had excellent results.  I think the product is easy enough for clients to apply themselves at home, its not greasy in the slightest, and has a subtle pleasant aroma.  All in all I highly recommend you pick up some bottles for yourself and to suggest to clients who suffer from damaged nails.

RescueRXx is out and available now.  check out CND's website for further information: http://www.cnd.com/

Essie Spring 2015 Collection Review

Essie Spring 2015 Collection Review 0

"The profusion of petals on the runway and on the most stylish streets announces essie's spring 2015 collection.  Inspired by the bright blooms seen all around, from Instagram to fashion runways to the streets, this season's go-to botanical look is more than just a budding trend.

With the collection's hero shade inspired by a "flowerista"- a fashionista who create her signature style from floral-inspired fashions- the spring 2015 collection will breathe beauty into all aspects of life.  Now is the time for every woman of style to stock her wardrobe with essie looks to last a lifetime.

Can't wait for spring's first bloom to sport your favorite petal pushers? Prefer the garden variety over all others? Well, it sounds like you're a true connoisseur of florals- a real flowerista.  Now is the moment to create a wardrobe that is picked perfect, because just like spring itself, blossom dandy style always comes back in fashion- it's a perennial chic.

In addition, essie gel will be launching a coinciding set of gel colors sharing the same names and shades as the spring 2015 collection," according to the press release.

Essie's Spring 2015 collection includes:

Perennial Chic: a creamy opaque peachy beige.  It's not a skin tone shade if that's what you were thinking.  I love it nonetheless.  [sumptuous tawny tulip]

Petal Pushers: a slate gray creme with lavender undertones.  [smoky stone rose]

Garden Variety: a bold oceanic teal creme with blue undertones. [teal blue orchid]

Flowerista: a deep magenta creme.  The shade you've all been waiting for.  This is the "it" color for spring.  A must have in your arsenal of polishes. [passionate plum dahlia]

Blossom Dandy: a light blue mint creme.  It is very similar to their cult color "Mint Candy Apple," but is slightly more blue, and not quite as green leaning.  [mint creme hydrangea]

Picked Perfect: a creamy camel.  A one coat wonder.  Had excellent coverage in a single coat!! It is much darker than Perennial Chic.  [antique almond peony]

(all shades shown her are 2 coats, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

As a whole, I really Love this collection.  I think it is such a gorgeous color palette for spring, and the colors all go together beautifully, which is why I posted the pic with different shades on each finger! (love that look).  The formulas on all of them were great, giving me absolutely no problems.

This collection is special for a couple of reasons.  First off, this is the first time Essie has collaborated with a fashion designer to create the colors, in this case- Rebecca Minkoff.  I think Rebecca did a remarkable job of picking shades that are elegant, yet fun and edgy.  Also, this collection is the first time Essie has released both gel and nail polishes together with the same name.

I must admit it is really hard for me to pick favorites in this collection.  I honestly think all of the shades are rather gorgeous and great.  Nonetheless, if I had to choose my top favorites, they include: Flowerista, Petal Pushers, Perennial Chic, & Garden Variety.

Essie's Spring 2015 collection retails for $8.50 per bottle and will be available in March at essie.com, fine salons and beauty destinations nationwide.

Morgan Taylor Cinderella Collection Review

Morgan Taylor Cinderella Collection Review 0

"Find your happily ever after this spring with the Cinderella 2015 collection from Morgan Taylor. In celebration of Walt Disney Pictures’ live-action film Cinderella, this collection features six magical individual colors, duo sets and NEW Morgan Taylor MINI’s, bound to capture any prince.

“We were thrilled to be part of this amazing project,” said namesakes Morgan Haile and Taylor Daniel. “For this collection, we wanted to create an array of colors that highlight iconic moments and characters from this beloved fairy tale story, Cinderella. From the fanciful glitters to striking bright pink, each shade is soaring with personality to fall in line with the movie.”

With the Cinderella 2015 collection from Morgan Taylor, anyone can find a winning, beautiful color to add a magical touch for your spring style," according to the press release.

The Cinderella Collection include:

Watch Your Step, Sister!: a hot pink neon coral creme.

Party at the Palace: a turquoise blue with gold shimmer.

Ella of a Girl: a bubblegum pink creme.

Best Ball Gown Ever: a magical shimmering cornflower blue.  I am obsessed with this shade.  I find it to be super unique to what's out on the market, and it's absolutely beautiful! I highly recommend it.

My Carriage Awaits: a peachy coral creme.

If the Slipper Fits: an icy blue iridescent glitter.  Was nicely pigmented and didn't require 3 coats; it covered fully and well in only 2.

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats).

Overall I think Morgan Taylor did an excellent job of curating a collection that embodies the classic fairy tale.  There is honestly something in this collection for everyone.  Some of the colors are highly unique, like Best Ball Gown Ever & If the Slipper Fits, but some are also just okay, like Ella of a Girl.

My personal favorites include: If the Slipper Fits, Party at the Palace, & Best Ball Gown Ever.
