Essie fall 2015 collection review

Essie fall 2015 collection review 0

"Lights? Check/ Sound? Check. Inspiring colors? You're on! Taking center stage this season is essie's fall 2015 collection inspired by iconic rock'n'roll royalty.  Fashioned after the darlings music scene, the collection captures the era's rebellious spirit and style that made it famous.  From the fierce attitude to the fashionable clothes, it's all about the perfectly stylish queen of the entourage that everyone on the a-list wants or wants to be.  Rule number one: if you want to be a muse, dress for success.

the six compelling shades of essie's fall 2015 collection capture the powerful allure of the ingenues of the classic rock era with intensely saturated hues.  Deep red smolder with brazen beauty, midnight blue wields hypnotic power and shimmering bronze emerges from the night and onto the dance floor.  Mix major attitude with killer style and seize the moment in shades tailor made to rock" according to the official press release .

The essie fall 2015 collection is comprised of the following shades-

With the Band: a dark cranberry brick red creme.  Heavily pigmented.  Essentially a 1 Coat Wonder! [toasted spice burgundy]

Color Binge: a firey orange creme with red undertones.  incredibly pigmented.  a 1 Coat Wonder. [burning red orange]

Bell- bottom Blues: a shimmering metallic dark blue. a 1 Coat Wonder. In the bottle there's a slight purple shimmer, but it doesn't quite translate to the nail once painted. [intense midnight indigo]

Frock 'n roll: a dark espresso brown shimmer.  a 1 Coat Wonder. [shimmering rich espresso]

In the Lobby: a rich eggplant aubergine creme. [exotic cinnamon plum]

Leggy Legend: a coppery metallic bronze. [alloyed bronze bombshell]

(all swatches are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural lighting.)

I really like this latest collection from Essie.  I think the colors are all beautiful and very fitting for the season.  There is something for everyone.

Aside from the gorgeous hues, I am most impressed with the formula.  I don't think I have ever come across a collection that is so richly pigmented.  What I mean by that is with even one coat, you essentially have full and complete coverage.  Many of the shades you can honestly get away with applying only one coat; saving you tons of time, product, & ultimately $$.

My personal favorites from the collection include: Frock 'n roll, Color Binge, and Leggy Legend.

essie's fall 2015 collection is out available now, & retails for $8.50 per .46 fl oz (13.5 ml) bottle.

Deborah lippmann fall 2015 collection review

Deborah lippmann fall 2015 collection review 0

"This fall, Deborah Lippmann encourages you to stand up, to speak out, to ROAR. With four brand new nail lacquers, this collection evokes feminine strength and echoes the united voice of women everywhere.  Inspired by the rebirth of female empowerment (equal rights, equal opportunity and female solidarity) and iconic leaders like Grace Jones, Madonna, and Cher, Deborah specifically designed these show-stopping shades to represent that power with color.  From the discerning She Wolf and the boardroom dominating Miss Independent, to the brick red that demands Respect and glittery bronze that Can't Be Tamed, this collection is for the bold woman who has something to say and won't stop until she's heard.

Embrace your strong and expressive side with these new full coverage shades previewed at the Badgley Mischka A/W 2015 Runway show" according to the press release.

The four shades that comprise the Deborah Lippmann Fall 2015 Roar Collection include:

Respect: a burnt crimson red creme  A 1 Coat Wonder! Incredibly pigmented. [brick red creme]

Miss Independent: an eggplant purple creme. [berry wine creme]

Can't Be Tamed: a yellow gold glitter in a sheer mocha brown base.  Also has hints of holographic glitter particles scattered throughout. [holographic honey gold]

She Wolf: a creamy taupe with slight lavender undertones.  Incredibly pigmented.  Had excellent coverage in even a single coat. [taupe creme]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I absolutely Love this collection.  Yet again Deborah hit the ball out of the park.  I think all 4 colors are winners and are shades customers would definitely request.

The pigmentation and formula on all four colors was excellent.  I didn't experience any issues whatsoever with any of them.  If anything I was surprised at how incredibly well saturated in pigment they were.  Very smooth and creamy, and super easy to paint and work with.

My personal favorites include She Wolf and Can't Be Tamed

This collection is limited edition and is available now.  The suggested retail price is $18 each, with Can't Be Tamed retailing at $20. The bottles are .5 fl oz 15 mL.

They're available online at http://www.deborahlippmann.com/ , and at Barneys New York, Bloomingdale's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Sephora stores nationwide.

OPI Infinite shine summer 2015 review

OPI Infinite shine summer 2015 review 0

"Twelve new Infinite Shine Gel Effect Lacquer System shades inspired by laid- back summer lifestyle.  The all new Infinite Shine Summer 2015 Collection from OPI delivers 10 days of high-definition, gel-like shine that lasts until you take it odd.  As the world's number one salon brand, OPI brings to life the easy pinks, sunny yellows, and breezy blues of a day at the beach, the hot orange and juicy plums of an outdoor sunset, and the metallic gold and silver sparkle-perfect for catching some summer rays while making your own.

The easy three step Infinite Shine Gel Effects Lacquer System makes it possible to get high-volume, glossy gel effects from a formula that you apply and remove like a lacquer, no light curing or soaking required.  For rich color and brilliant, long lasting shine, simply Prime, to prep nails to uniquely grip color and help prevent staining.  Then Lacquer for bold, high-impact color.  Finally Gloss with the high-sheen top coat.  The top coat's exclusive oligomer formula cures to a high-shine hard film in natural light, and comes off easily with nail lacquer remover.  These summer must-have hues are a unique new addition to the 36 OPI Infinite Shine existing shades" according to the press release.

the new Infinite Shine shades for Summer 2015 include:

Your're Blushing Again: a soft dusty light rose pink creme. [this bashful pink has chic-y style]

Patience Pays Off: a pale pink creme with light lilac undertones. [I canNot wait to get ahead of this nude pink!]

Silver on Ice: a silver chrome. [chill out with nails shimmering with cool silver]

Follow Your Bliss: a bubble gum pink. [I'm in hot pursuit of this dashing, joyful pink]

Lavendurable: a light lilac creme. [ my love for this sweet lilac will last forever]

Purpletual Emotion: a royal purple creme. [getting in touch with this expressive eggplant]

The Sun Never Sets: a bright cantaloupe melon creme. [the afterglow of a tangerine sunset]

Wild Blue Yonder: a bold marine blue creme. [soar into this untamed sky blue]

To Be Continued: a light periwinkle blue creme. [this perwinkle blue just keeps on shining]

S-ageless Beauty: a pale mint green creme. [you are so wise to choose this light sage]

Bee Mine Forever: a butter yellow creme. [I'm devoted to this sweet as-honey yellow creme]

Enter the Golden Era: a light butterscotch gold metallic. [this pearly gold ushers in the Age of Glam]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light)

I must say OPI is usually on the forefront when it comes to technology, but when it comes to their version of a gel-like nail lacquer I must say I'm slightly disappointed.  🙁

Most other brands already on the market offering a similar product do so without needing a Base Coat.  Also, most other gel-like polishes on the market dry in half of the time of a regular polish manicure, 8 minutes as opposed to 15.  This system makes no claims with regards to a possible faster drying time.

Instead, the product boasts itself on lasting for 10 days, but I personally don't test polishes for their lasting wearability.  There are so many different factors involved that can cause a polish to chip, so when I write my blog reviews I mainly do so discussing the formula, the color itself, and any issues I might have experienced while using it.

As for the colors themselves, I think this is a very pretty collection, and is definitely wearable.  These are shades clients would request repeatedly.

I found the formula to be good across the board.  I didn't experience any issues.  The polishes painted on smoothly and evenly, just like a conventional nail polish does.

My personal favorite shades from the collection include: S-ageless Beauty, The Sun Never Sets, and Purpletual Emotion.

The OPI Infinite Shine Lacquers retail for $12.50 per .5 fl oz 15 mL bottle.

Morgan Taylor- The Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween Collection 2015

Morgan Taylor- The Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween Collection 2015 0

"Classic and sassy colors that beam in the night.  Start glowing in anticipation for Morgan Taylor's Halloween 2015 Collection, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the greatest cult film and longest running theatrical release of all-time, The Rocky Horror Picture Show.  The Morgan Taylor collection includes a 4-piece mini pack with three classic shades- white, red, and black, and a NEW glow-in-the-dark top coat. to ready nails for midnight mayhem.

"For this collaboration, we were immediately inspired by the iconic imagery from The Rocky Horror Picture Show," expresses Morgan Haile of Morgan Taylor.  "We hand-picked top colors from our collection that were stunning and captivating to best complement the special occasion," says Taylor Daniel of Morgan Taylor.  "In addition, the collection wouldn't be complete without a little mad scientist touch, so we added a glow-in-the-dark top coat for an electrifying and sassy finish to any look" according to the press release.

The four piece mini collection includes the following shades:

All White Now: a classic bright white creme.

Pretty Woman: the perfect classic timeless red creme.  I absolutely LOVE this red.  It's so perfect and flattering and so many different skin tones.  You can't go wrong.

Little Black Dress: a jet black creme.

Glow-In-The-Dark Top Coat: a special effect top coat, that truly glows brightly in the dark.  When applied over the other shades it wasn't so evident, you could really only see it visibly over Little Black Dress.

(All swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light, except for the glow-in-the-dark top coat to better demonstrate the effect).

I found the three main shades to be very highly pigmented, providing fantastic full coverage.  These are all classic colors that are literally timeless, and you can't ever go wrong.  I am adding these little goodies to my main travel kit. I was also really impressed with how well the glow top coat worked.  I have tried a few different brands in the past but they never shined nearly as brightly as this one did.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show Halloween Collection from Morgan Taylor will be available for a limited time beginning September 2015.  The suggested retail price for the 4-piece mini pack is $14.95.  Each bottle is 5 mL, 0.17 fl oz.

OPI GelColor Venice Collection Fall Winter 2015 Review

OPI GelColor Venice Collection Fall Winter 2015 Review 0

"People watching in the piazza.  Sipping champagne in a gondola.  Enjoying gelato in an outdoor cafe.  These images and more can only be inspired by one of the most romantic cities in the world- Venice, Italy.  Not only celebrated for its over-the-top romance, Venice is also the mecca for pleasure-seekers looking to immerse themselves in the opulent splendor of the Baroque period architecture and lavish artwork that surrounds them.

Inspired by this extraordinary city, OPI presents a modern interpretation of Baroque style in the 15 new shades o the Venice Collection.  Romantic reds, decadent blues, striking corals, dreamy pastels, elegant nudes, dramatic darks, and luxurious metallics proclaim that "less is more" is out and sumptuous indulgence is in.

OPI invited you to renew your passion with color and bring the romance and opulence of Venice into your heart and onto your fingertips with the Venice Collection by OPI," from the official press release.

The Fall Winter 2015 Venice Collection from OPI consists of the following shades:

Be There in a Prosecco: a creamy white beige. [I'm living in the moment, and in this opaque creme.]

Tiramisu for Two: a creamy dusty rose pink. [I totally "dessert" this sweet coffee cream.]

A Great Opera-tunity: a creamy salmon shade.  It is significantly darker than Tiramisu for Two. ["Aria" ready to wear this gorgeous melon?]

Gimme a Lido Kiss: a micro fine shimmering bright bold red. [Pucker up for this saucy, red shimmer.]

Amore at the Grand Canal: a luscious deep dark red rose creme. [Let the romance flow in this ravishing red.]

It's a Piazza Cake: a pumpkin spiced orange creme. [Choosing this persimmon creme is as easy as pie.]

Gelato on my Mind: a bright pastel sky blue creme. [Deliciously sweet and icy-cool, pastel blue.]

Purple Palazzo Pants: a lavender creme. [I've searched far and wide for this lovely lilac.]

O Suzi Mio: a deep eggplant purple creme. [This delicious shade of eggplant is all mine!]

Worth a Pretty Penne: a shimmering light copper tone.  Could almost pass for rose gold.  Wasn't streaky in the slightest, as most shades similar can be.  I was very pleased with this one. 🙂  [Flaunt your fashion "cents" in this shimmery copper.]

My Gondola or Yours?: a jet black creme. [Let's cruise the canals in this luscious black.]

I Cannoli Wear OPI: an off white creme, but really its a super pale dove gray. [My heart belongs to this pale, creamy gray.]

And then the three limited edition shades:

Venice the Party?: a shimmering aqua blue with teal undertones. [This aquamarine would be the life of any party.]

Baroque... But Still Shopping: a pewter fine chunks of matching glitter particles.  The color is a perfect blend of both silver and gold. [It shimmers, it glitters, and it's gold... it's mine!]

St. Mark's the Spot: a shimmering cobalt blue. [Your search for the perfect royal blue pearl is over.]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, cured for 30 seconds each in an LED light, and are taken outdoors in natural lighting).

I must admit how overjoyed and overwhelmed I was upon receiving this elaborate package from OPI.  I review a lot of product, and come across most new collections from huge nail companies, but nevertheless, leave it to OPI to blow even me out of the water.

I think the presentation of the entire collection was so beyond creative, fun, and imaginative. Who ever came up with the idea to include a face mask, recipe cards, and even inspired delectable truffles is so so smart.

As far as the collection and formula are concerned- Love. I think the colors offer a wide variety to satisfy all clients.  I like that there is a little bit of everything, some glitters, some pearly metallics, and amazing cremes.  As for the formulas, I found them all great, painting on smoothly and easily, giving me complete coverage in two coats.  I didn't experience any issues.

My personal favorite shades include: Gelato on my Mind, I Canolli Wear OPI, Worth a Pretty Penne, & St. Mark's the Spot.

Another thing I have to mention is how beyond clever the names are.  I know OPI has always been famous for it's creative names, but this collection hands down hits the ball out of the park.  I died of laughter upon reading some of them, and still do.  Some of my personal favorites include: Baroque... but still Shopping, A Great Opera- tunity, & I Cannoli wear OPI.

The Fight Like a Lady 2015 Collection features a team of courageous pink hues including a stunning sheer, a fearless glitzy glitter, a lively bubblegum, and a daringly bold creme.

"We look forward to releasing a collection of strong, yet feminine pink colors every year to support Breast Cancer Awareness." Taylor Daniel from Morgan Taylor expresses.  "This year, our team selected four pink shades that represent brave, confident women.  Bright and bold or chic and dainty, there's a color to empower every woman," Morgan Haile from Morgan Taylor says."

The Fight Like a Lady 2015 Collection includes the following shades:

Sweet Surrender: a semi sheer very light ballet slipper pink creme. Despite the color being on the sheer side, I was very pleased that I still had full coverage. (light sheer pink)

Sweetest Thing: a soft pink glitter with some fine holographic glitter particles mixed in.  Very densely packed with glitter.  I got complete coverage in just two coats, I was very impressed.  (light pink glitter)

Lip Service: a bright flamingo pink creme. (bubblegum pink creme)

Prettier in Pink: a deep magenta pink creme. (pink creme)

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural lighting).

Who ever said nail polish is solely a vanity issue?! Now Morgan Taylor has teamed up with a wonderful foundation to donate a portion of the proceeds.  I think it is such a beautiful and wonderful thing, and I admire Morgan Taylor highly for doing so.  I think more companies should get behind other important causes, because together we Can make a difference.

I think this is a beautiful color palette.  Excellent choices of pink shades that represent every kind of woman, young and old.  I think this mini pack makes for a very lovely gift to either friends, a co-worker, family, teachers, etc.  Buy a couple of them to keep around as last minute gifts even!

The formula was great on all of the shades, and I didn't experience any issues whatsoever painting with the small sized bottles;  they are just too cute.

Cuccio Royale Fall 2015 Collection Review

Cuccio Royale Fall 2015 Collection Review 0

"Cuccio Royale-The Fall 2015 collection is a majestic mix of emotionally inspired autumn hues and rich jewel tones. Each luxurious shade of our triple pigmented lacquer and matching soak off gel colour are infused with a bit of creamy couture and sexy shimmer topped off with an imperial high gloss shine only a true princess could appreciate.

Scandalous, mysterious and steeped in old world charm, this regal collection puts your client first in line as heir to the throne of the kingdom of colour.

Cuccio Royale is by far our crowning achievement to date," according to the press release.

The Cuccio Royale Fall 2015 collection includes:

Prince I've been gone: a deep dark jungle green creme with teal undertones. (teal)

Duke it out: an espresso brown shimmer.

Crown Jewels: a gilded coppery yellow gold metallic.  Like most metallic gels, be very careful when applying to avoid making brushstrokes. (copper with green metallic undertones)

That's so Kingky: a rich berry creme.

Count me in: a deep dusty purple creme. (purple)

Wild Knights: a midnight navy blue creme.

Dancing Queen: a medium blue shimmer.  Kind of on the sheer side, I would recommend doing three coats of this color for full opacity.

Royal Flush: a dark burgundy shimmer.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, cured each for 30 seconds in an LED light, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I review a lot of collections that come my way, and I must admit that this is the first collection that actually reads Fall to me.  So many other brands have included bright or pastel shades in their fall color palette, which makes zero sense to me.

I think the shades are great in this collection, they will make for excellent fall manicures.  I like that Cuccio has introduced some new metallics and shimmers to the mix.  I also think the names are getting way more fun & tongue-&-cheek.

I found the shades to be well pigmented, and they painted on smoothly and evenly.  The only shade I would advise being a little careful when painting is with Crown Jewels, just to avoid any major streaking.

My personal favorites include: Crown Jewels & Dancing Queen.

The Cuccio Royale Fall 2015 collection will be available soon, and will retail for approximately $11.95 per 13 ml bottle (.44 fl oz)

CHANEL- Les Beiges Collection Summer 2015

CHANEL- Les Beiges Collection Summer 2015 0

Today I am excited to share with you all a new classic and timeless collection from CHANEL. Introducing Les Beige Collection for Summer 2015; four sumptuous new creamy shades that complement virtually ever skin tone.

CHANEL's Les Beige Collection includes:

Beige Rose 655: a carnation pink creme.  Not a beige color at all really, but still very pretty nevertheless.

Beige Pur 659: a creamy beige nude with slight peach undertones.  It's very sophisticated looking.

Precious Beige 661: a creamy beige with rose pink undertones, and the finest pearl shimmer that glimmers in the light.  I'm obsessed with this shade.  It's very unique, especially due to the pearl effect.  I also find it very elegant.

Lovely Beige 663: a creamy mocha mauve with rose undertones.  Perfect for those with a darker skin tone.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

You can't ever go wrong with a collection of nudes in my opinion, and I like the fact that CHANEL threw in Beige Rose, which is honestly a pale pink.  Like I mentioned earlier, these are all classic and timeless shades that clients will request again and again.

They each painted on smoothly and evenly, giving me zero issues, including no brush strokes. Sometimes, nudes or flesh tone polishes can lean on the sheer side, so I was very pleased to see how highly pigmented these colors were, and how they didn't come out sheer at all. 🙂

My personal favorite color from this collection if I had to pick just one, is: Precious Beige

Les Beige Collection from CHANEL is available now, and retails for $27 per 13ml (0.4 fl oz) bottle.

Introducing Beauty Hardware by Cricket

Introducing Beauty Hardware by Cricket 0

Hello everyone.

I hope you are all having a wonderful week thus far.  Today I am excited to share with you all a new implement company I have been using the past few weeks now on my clients, and I must say I am very happy with.

"Cricket Company, a brand known for its innovative portfolio of professional hair tools, is taking the sterile-looking world of grooming tools by beautiful storm with the launch of Beauty Hardware by , a line of professional beauty maintenance tools. Cricket ®

“Plucking eyebrows and clipping cuticles isn’t always a glamorous process, but that doesn’t mean that there shouldn’t be beautiful and efficient tools to get those jobs done,” said Jared Clark, General Manager of Cricket.“Beauty Hardware by Cricket gives the at-home groomer a selection of tools that meet beauty maintenance needs with precision and look beautiful in the process” according to the official press release.

The products I have been working with and are featured here include:

Pro Ultra Fine Point Tweezer – An all around multi purpose ultra fine point tweezers, with incredible preciseness.  Whenever I work with crystals or small bits, these tweezers sure do come in handy. Retails for $29.95.

Pro Cuticle 1⁄4” Nipper – made up of imported Japanese stainless steel, they featured a highly durable double spring tension which allows for smooth cuticle trimming.  Can be used by either left or right handed technicians. Feels great in my hand as I used it. Retails for $38.95.

Classic Cuticle Pusher – This dual ended pusher allows you to both safely bush back the cuticles, while using the other side you are able to clean under the finger nails. The body of the tool features a rough, sort of embossed texture, which is slip resistant, allowing for a secure firm grip. I personally love the length of this tool.  It's somewhat on the shorter side, compared to other cuticle pushers I've used.  It comes in at approximately 4.5".  Despite it's small size, it works great, and doesn't take up much space in my tool kit.  A win win! Retails for  $26.95.

Pro Acrylic Nipper – also constructed from Japanese stainless steel, offers a double spring tension that is guaranteed to not break when removing acrylic nails.  It is also designed to be used by both left or right handed technicians.  It feels very sturdy and substantial in my hands.  I have used other acrylic nippers before that felt weak and flimsy, and definitely didn't get the job done.  $36.95.

Overall I am really impressed with the implements I have used from Cricket.  I think it's a great brand and I would recommend you try it out for yourself.

CND Vinylux Fall 2015 Contradictions Collection Review

CND Vinylux Fall 2015 Contradictions Collection Review 0

"CND’s new Fall 2015 Contradictions collection, featuring CND® SHELLAC® brand 14+ day nail color and VINYLUX® Weekly Polish.

Turn up the contrast with the new Fall 2015 Contradictions collection from CND. Textures and tones collide for an unexpected elegance: leather and lace, street and chic, metal and pearl.

“This season’s trends celebrate an unexpected clash between gritty street elements and elegant details for a dynamic combination of glamour and grunge,” says CND Co-founder and Style Director Jan Arnold. “Nails evoke an edgy narrative with blackened pigments and heraldic ornaments. Enhanced almonds in purple and red are deepened and oxidized with smoked pearl and steel finishes” according to the official Press release.

I've previously reviewed the Contradictions Collection in Shellac, which features the same shades except for 2 which are exclusive to Vinylux.  To see my review and swatches of the other Contradictions Collection hues, check out my previous blog post: http://www.merricures.com/blog/cnd-fall-2015-shellac-contradictions-collection-review/

The 2 exclusive Vinylux shades for Fall 2015 from the Contradictions Collection are:

Grommet: a metallic pearly dark gunmetal with blue undertones.  I am obsessed with this shade.  I am wearing it on my toes as we speak.  I have already received countless complements on it.  I wish CND made this shade in Shellac!!  Hopefully in the future they will 😉

Couture Covet: a deep navy blue creme.

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and most images are taken outdoors in natural lighting).

I really like these new shades.  I wish CND made them in Shellac as well, particularly Grommet.  Both shades painted on smoothly, evenly, and easily, with zero brush strokes.  I also found them to be heavily pigmented, providing complete coverage in two coats. I highly recommend them.  If you are only going to buy one of them I would recommend Grommet.

FEATURED BENEFITS: VINYLUX® Weekly Polish system includes a self-adhering Color Coat that eliminates the need for Base Coat; Top Coat becomes more durable with exposure to natural light; dries in just 8.5 minutes and provides week-long chip-free wear

CHANEL Nail Colour Fall 2015 Review

CHANEL Nail Colour Fall 2015 Review 0

Hey guys,

I hope your all having a wonderful week thus far  I know I sure am.

I am so beyond excited, thrilled, privileged, honored, and overjoyed to say the least to present to you all the latest collection of nail polish from none other than CHANEL- what in my opinion is literally the "Holy Grail" of nail polishes.

"Discover a rich tapesty of shades inspired by beautiful fall foliage.  Earthy neutrals dress eyes in natural splendor, while copper tones and deep reds blaze on the lips.  An ideal complement to autumnal colour, a new manicure range helps prep and perfect any nail look," according to the official press release.

the CHANEL Fall 2015 Nail Colour collection includes the following three shades:

Chataigne (669): a semi-sweet dark chocolate creme.

Vert Obscur (679): a deep dark forest green jelly with slight teal undertones.  I am obsessed with the jelly formula.  It almost has some translucency to it.  The color builds up beautifully in just two coats too.  Also happens to be my personal favorite of the three!

Ecorce Sanguine (671): a red apple creme with a very faint fine shimmer running through it.  Also has slight blue undertones.

(All swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural light).

I am very pleased with this latest collection from CHANEL. I think the colors are all very pretty and highly wearable.  These are shades I know for sure my clients will be asking me for time and time again.

I found the formula to be absolutely divine.  The colors were all incredibly richly pigmented, and painted on smoothly and effortlessly, with absolutely zero brushstrokes. Don't get me started on the jelly formula of Vert Obscur.  I don't have any other polishes in my immense arsenal that even come close.  Not only is the color very unique, but that jelly formula I just absolutely Love and can''t get enough of.

The bottles fit perfectly in the palm of your hand and are so easy to work with.  The paint brush is phenomenal, allowing you to paint perfectly and with tremendous ease.  And the neck of the bottle is relatively thin, and in my opinion, wipes off any and all access paint from the brush, so each and every time you have the perfect amount of product to work with.

I highly recommend all three shades, but if you have to pick just one, my personal favorite would have to be Vert Obscur.

The CHANEL Fall 2015 Nail Colour collection is out and available now for a limited time and retails for $27 per 0.4 fl oz (13 ml) bottle.

Pink to Envy: the sheerest pink-tinged wash.  To me this is virtually clear.  It primarily gives a healthy subtle glow to your nail if you will. [a Nail Envy exclusive shade in sheer light pink]

Bubble Bath: a semi-sheer light pink ballet slipper. [a sweet candy pink]

Hawaiian Orchid: a creamy deepened rose mauve creme. [a tropical pink with hints of light purple]

Samoan Sand: a creamy beige toned nude.  one of my most favorite shades of all time.  I am so happy OPI decided to include this color in their Nail Envy line up. 🙂 [a warm beige-pink]

(all swatches shown here are two coats, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

Bravo to OPI for continuously finding technological innovations to help preserve and protect client's natural nails.  I know we are all sort of in this gel frenzy, but lets not get to carried away.  Even with proper application and removal, over time, gel manicures can take a toll on our clients nails, and going back to a conventional nail polish for a bit isn't always a bad idea.  For OPI to take some of their most notable shades and infuse them with vitamins and minerals to help the nail be its healthiest is so wonderful in my eyes.

I found the formulas to be very easy to work with on all of the shades.  I didn't experience any issues whatsoever.  They painted on smoothly and evenly.

I will be keeping these fabulous new nail strengtheners permanently in my nail kit, and highly suggest you do the same for your clients.

The OPI Nail Envy "Strength in Color" shades will retail for $17.95 per 0.5 fl oz (15 ml) bottle.

Morgan Taylor Chrome Collection Review

Morgan Taylor Chrome Collection Review 0

Lust- worthy, bold gilded nails are just two steps away.  Bring bright metallic colors to life this summer with Morgan Taylor's Chrome Collection.  Featuring a silver chrome base and six new, eye- catching color washes, nails will be layered with luminous, unmatched style.   Whether you keep it simple yet stunning with one color, or layer and build custom colors, your nails will be the perfect accessory this season.

The Collection includes:

- Chrome Base: base coat

- Sunset Yellow: yellow

- Amber Rush: orange

- Cherry: hot red-pink

- Royal: purple

- UltraMarine: teal

- Ivy: green

The Chrome Collection from Morgan Taylor will be available for a limited time beginning July 2015.  The suggested retail price for the lacquer is $8.50 each and $14.95 for the 4 piece mini pack." according to the press release.

Featured here in this review is the 4 Piece Mini Pack.  What I really enjoy about the mini pack is you don't have to invest in an entire set to try out a popular new trend.

There are so many ways you can use these Chrome polishes, you're only limited by your own imagination and creativity.

For swatch sake, I have painted two coats of each color over the silver base.  The silver base allows the almost translucent sheer pigmented colors to truly pop, and painted on smoothly and evenly, without any streaks.

The formulas on all the pigmented shades are incredibly forgiving and are very easy to work with.  I don't care how advanced your nail art skills might be, even a complete beginner could create amazing works of art!

Also worth mentioning is how fast the colors dry.  I was under the impression I would have to wait a long time in between colors or coats, but you don't.  These babies dry super quick!

If you are looking to try out this new pop metallic trend, and don't want to invest in an entire line, I highly suggest picking up this mini pack!

OPI ColorPaints Review

OPI ColorPaints Review 0

Hey guys,

I hope your all having a wonderful week.  I am super excited to share with you the latest release from OPI, they're innovative ColorPaints collection, comprised of 8 blendable nail lacquers.

"ColorPaints' innovative, breakthrough formula allows you to create luminous nail designs in vivid, translucent color.  Try layering, blending, or marbling to create a unique look every time you see it" according to ad.

The ColorPaints are super easy to use and are incredibly fun.  Apply a single thin coat of the Silver Canvas, and then use any of the 8 shades to make endless works of art.  Literally I could play around with this stuff for days on end, which I have, and could continue to do so easily, but unfortunately I have to get back to my clients and testing out other products.

The eight colors that comprise the ColorPaints collection include-

Silver Canvas: a metallic silver used as a base for your art work.

Primary Yellow: a sheer lemon yellow.

Pen & Pink: a bold sheer watermelon pink.

Magenta Muse: a fun sheer fuchsia.

Purple Perspective: a rich sheer grape purple.

Indigo Motif: a deep sheer navy blue.

Turquoise Aesthetic: a sheer turquoise teal blue.

Landscape Artist: a sheer grassy green.

*Chromatic Orange: please note this shade is not featured in the review!*

(all swatches shown here are two coats of color, painted over Silver Canvas as base).

I found the formula to be really easy to work with.  There was no streaking whatsoever, everything painted on smoothly and evenly.  Even Silver Canvas, used as a base, painted on so smoothly and evenly, which I was quite surprised, expecting it to be like most foily silvers, and be a streaky mess.

The possibilities of what you can create are absolutely endless, limited by your own creativity and imagination.

ColorPaints by OPI are available now in stores, and I highly suggest you pick some up and have a go with it yourself.  I promise you'll be thanking me.

Nubar Pop! Spring 15 Collection Review

Nubar Pop! Spring 15 Collection Review 0

Hey guys! I hope you have all been having a great week so far.

Today I've got the latest collection from nubar to share with you all- Pop! Spring 2015.  The eight new creamy lacquer shades include:

Fan Club: an aqua marine creme with teal undertones.

Prima Donna: a mint green creme.

Media: a deep dusty royal blue creme.

Choir Girl: an elephant light gray creme.

Spotlight: a lemon yellow creme with subtle green undertones.

Encore: terracotta mocha creme with dusty rose undertones.

V.I.P.: an orange Creamsicle, with pumpkin undertones.  This reads more autumnal to me than it does spring.

(all swatches shown here are 2 coats, and are taken outdoors in natural sunlight).

Overall I enjoyed this collection from nubar.  I found the polishes were very highly pigmented and provided excellent coverage in a single coat.  They painted on smoothly and evenly without giving me any issues whatsoever- no streaking, puddling, or pooling.  Applied like butter!

As a reminder, nubar polishes are 5- free and vegan, not that I am about to start drinking the stuff 😉

My personal favorites include: Prima Donna, Fan Club, & Spotlight.

And FYI, this collection is also available in their Gelicure Soak - Off Gel Polish line, for all those professional nail techs out there.
